I have a fairly old TV that I would like to hook my laptop up to. It's not ancient, but it's not from the flat-screen era.
My usual way is with a VGA cable, but this TV doesn't even have that. What's the next best (and cheapest!) way?

You didn't mention what ports your TV and laptop have, so I am kind of swinging wide here:
First thing to do is find out more about your laptop. Does it have the "skullhead" s-video out? It looks like a regular s-video port with extra pins. If so, most will allow a straight s-video out from that to the TV.
If your laptop has an HDMI out, and your TV is hooked up to a surround receiver that has HMDI in, then you can run out from the laptop to the surround setup, and the video will feed to the TV through that.
There are a whole bunch of really cheap cables, one of which was already suggested (incorrect for your use) and many of them LOOK like just what you would need: a DB-15 VGA connector on one end and composite video, component video and/or s-video on the other.
These are ONLY for use with video cards that support this function. Using them without the correct video out will be VERY expensive for you. :-(
Ok, so, now I am going to go with ideas that follow the notion that your laptop has only a VGA out.
There are MANY different makes of "VGA to TV" conversion boxes. They range in price from about $24 to over $100.
You should be able to pick one up within your price range on any of your favorite electronic sellers. Heck, even Wal-Mart sells these things if you can believe that.
You might also look them up with the keywords: "PC to TV"

Ok, I am getting the HTC Evo 4G. My 2 best friends and I want to have a video chat because one is away at college and she hasn't seen the other friend since she left so it would be nice to see each other and talk again for all of us. Now, she can only video chat on her mac using skype, Qik comes free with my new phone and on my friend's iphone, he gets facetime. For us to all be able to chat, would we all need to be using the same chat? The friend on the mac would not be able to get any other video browser, I believe. So, if it is possible would my friend and I have to download skype for this to work? Can phones even get skype? I'm so lost, help me out please, haha. Thanks a bunch!! (link)

Hi there,
Really, the easies way to do this would be to install Skype on both mobile devices.
You can then video chat between each other, as well as Skype installed on desktop and laptop computers. A friend of mine routinely rings my desktop from his iPhone, and it works surprisingly well.
Skype is, in my experience, the one video chat solution that really works well across PC, Mac and mobile phones from both Apple and Android platforms.

I think most of us have been or will be someplace very dark in our lives. Mine was very dark, and I didn't really see a way out... but I hung in there. Four years later, and the whole situation is gone. Sure there are occasional reminders of what she did to me, but on the whole, things are better.
Where there was once only pain and each day was not a struggle to get up, so much as a struggle to invent a new reason not to lay there and die... now, all that is just a memory.
And for the record, at the time, I had very little. Everything had been taken from me, and I was 2,500-3,000 miles from the nearest person who cared if I lived or died.
Don't underestimate time. People always say it is your enemy, but in things like you and I are talking about... that isn't always true.

You can get STDs from fingering, oral sex as well as the rest. With that in mind, please get both yourself and your boyfriend tested before you end up with lifelong regret.

The odds are your computer is infected with a piece of spyware or a virus that scans your contacts on the machine and when you log into your various accounts, then uses your computer to send spam to people at every e-mail address it can find.
This is EXTREMELY common, and you will need to clean your computer.
If you know nothing about this, then you may want to go ahead and talk with a friend who knows a little more about this, or take it to a reputable computer shop.

So i have a question about homework. No, I'm not trying to get anyone to give me an answer.. I'm just confused as to how Karl Marx's theory of economic crisis affects us today. Ive been reading up on it for the past two days, even watching youtube videos and I still dont understand it completely.. My paper is supposed to have us explain how a couple of his theories apply to us today.. and I wrote about the economic recession we are in today and im trying to apply it to Marx's theory of economic crisis
Simply put, I wrote about how machinery (constant capital) is slowly replacing living workers in the workplace.. which reduces the amount of wages that companys need to pay their workers.. which increases surplus value... but i dont exactly understand HOW this increase of surplus value is bad for the economy. In simplest termsm, what causes the rise of profit to fall? That's where I'm lost.. I just need a general explanation but whenever I read up on it I get lost because I"m not familiar with all these terms...

Simplest terms? Man are you asking a lot here... but:
When you reduce wages, in order to increase profits, the people who buy your stuff... not have less money to spend on it.
So, while the item costs less, everyone has less money to spend on it... which means that it costs MORE for the workers to buy things, if you count percentage of income, instead of number of dollars.
