about
Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.
I'm a diehard SF Giants fan and also enjoy watching the Sharks and Niners. Addicted to music, especially The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and my name is Krista. :)
advice
What are some normal songs, with a little bit of exotic-ness in them. Like a little bit of jungle / tribal / reggae / drums / african sounds. Listen to the beginning of Jane Says, that's just one example. I'm into the whole wooden house, bamboo, plants everywhere, buddha stuff, karma, peace, meditation, nighttime, etc.
You might like Dread Starr. They're kind of hard to fit into a genre, but I guess you could call it reggae-rock (way better than it sounds). My favorite song by them is "Wanna Know" if you want to look it up.
eveytime i use liquid eyeliner i make a mistake because my eyes get shaky especilly my handds too
how do you apply liquid eyeliner perfectly!!??
p.s. ive been using liquid eyeliner since i was 11 so i should be good by now!! i'm 17
Rest your hand on your cheek and do small little connected dashes instead of trying to do the whole line at once.
Also, try a liquid liner marker/pen- way easier to use than a brush or sponge.
Here's a more complete guide:

my forehead is shiny and i have no idea how to get rid of it.. ive tried masks and i wash my face everyday. i dont know what to do, someone please helpp
First of all, every morning and night you need to cleanse, tone, and moisturize.
Carry around oil-absorbing sheets with you (the non-powdered kind- Clean and Clear is great). Better yet, carry around a pressed powder compact and dust on a little when you start getting shiny. Works for longer. Try Revlon ColorStay.
is it true that good quality products comefrom expensive products?
like for examly makeup
if i buy a 5 dollar eyeshadow for a smkey eye, a 34 dollar one would be better?
true or false
i dont get it..
why?
Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. More expensive products have better ingredients. Like, MAC makeup is way better than Covergirl.
There are exceptions, though. Like L'oreal is made by Lancome and works just as well. Revlon is another good, cheap brand.
so the jordana is new and out in walgreens for three bucks right now?
p.s. thanks!
Yeah, it should be on the display next to the regular eyeliner. If not try the Covergirl LineExact.
how do you know that walgreens still sells the jane gel eyeliner.?
i heard that it was discontinued.
did you personally see it there at walgreens??
I worked at Walgreen's until recently. Right before I left I set up a new display with it- I think they're calling it mineral now, but it's the same thing.
i went on the website of perfumania and itsall perfume! whers the make up part?
That's why I didn't link you, they have it in store only.
whats an eye primer?
and where can i buy Jane Be Pure mineral Gel liner in Black? but IN A DRUGSTORE?
this is what it looks like
http://www.google.com/product_url?q=http://www.ecrater.com/product.php%3Fpid%3D2662160&fr=AG9WstvZXLIv4R-w0k3KvtOQB9du6033YEdPFNpDb1uKF21gNcFJi88lX7eweoLEnaIsSJxNcprGqHK-61qmO_ZtzQJSiAWKKwAAAAAAAAAA&gl=us&hl=en&sa=title
Eye primer is worn under your eyeliner and eyeshadow. It stops creasing and helps it stay on longer.
Walgreen's sells it, although it may be in a seperate display than the regular Jane, since it's new-ish.
where can i get a good deal for a make up palette? with really nice eyeshadow colors. =] thankss
Perfumania has some great palettes of all eye shadow for really cheap- 5 dollars or so for about 25 colors.
Jane also makes some good eye palettes.
whats a kabuki brush and why is it good
A kabuki brush is a bigggg powder brush. Used for mineral makeup or putting powder on to set your face. It's faster, easier, and gives a more natural look than traditional powder brushes.
On the cheap side, JANE cosmetics (sold at drugstores including Walgreen's) has one that works well. BareEscentuals, sold at Sephora and Ulta, also makes a good one.
the jordana liner you were talking about- was it a liquid liner PEN?or just liiquid eyeliner?
look at this: http://jordana.com/eyes.htm
which one is it? thanks
It's not on that page, probably because it's a fairly new product. It is a marker, comes in black and brown. It's in my makeup bag but the writing wore off- I think it was called something like Fabuliner.
whats a good drugstore powder? doesnt matter if loose and pressed powder but something that is really goood!!!
oh and what do you prefer loose and presseS? Just wondring
under ten dollars please =]
I don't use Covergirl for a semi-trivial reason: it's scented and smells disgusting, like old ladies.
Loose powder is what makeup artists use. You can also use a little bit under your lipgloss to make it stay, and dust some under your eyes (brush it off when you're done) while applying eyemakeup to stop flaking eyeshadow from messing up your whole face. I recommend L'Oreal Bare Naturale translucent powder- it comes with it's own brush. Sold at drugstores, Target, and Walmart. Maybelline makes a good loose powder as well.
If you have shiny/oily skin you may also want to carry around a pressed powder with you. They're good for touchups. Try Revlon ColorStay.
what is so good about the powder foundation? Whats the diff betweenn that and a pressed powder?
Foundation is base, what you start with. Powder sets it, and comes in two forms: loose and pressed.
Some people prefer powder foundation- it's better for oily skin, and you won't have a shiny nose. It can look heavy and unnatural, though, so if you're going to use one, get the mineral kind- L'Oreal Bare Naturale, Maybelline Mineral Power, and Neutrogena Mineral Sheers are all good brands.
does the stila smudge pot get "all over the place" in the pot/jar?
i went to sephora and found it and when i opened the jar (the tester jar] it wass all like so messy inside do you think its because someone played with it or does it really get like that?
I have several and have never had that problem- sounds like it was just someone messing with it, since I take mine everywhere and it stays put.
I'm currently using a Maybelline foundation that goes from liquid to powder.
My face gets oily by the end of the day and the make up just pretty much slides off.
My face still looks blotchy with this make up on.
Can anyone reccomend a good foundation that covers up the blotchyness in my face without being too heavy?
You need to use two steps: foundation, then a powder to set it and stop your skin from getting shiny. (and maybe concealer first if you have anything that needs to be covered).
I recommend using a mineral foundation. I just recently starting using them and am addicted. It really evens your skin out without being heavy or uncomfortable- and doesn't clog your pores.
My absolute favorite is L'oreal Bare Naturale. The foundation and the translucent finishing powder (comes out very different than it looks in the package). It's a little pricey but really amazing. And the shades are very forgiving, so you don't have to worry about getting the exact one.
A cheaper option is Maybelline Mineral Power line. For more coverage, use the liquid foundation (apply with a damp sponge) with the finishing veil (apply with a kabuki brush on top. Easier yet is the powder foundation- it's a kind of all-in-one. That's what I've been using lately, and I really like it. Stays put really well, too. They also make a translucent loose powder if you feel the need to use it.
wher can i buy a liquid liner pen under 10 dollas?
Lots of brands have them.
The best cheap one is at Walgreen's from the Jordana line, it comes in black and brown. When I bought it a month or so ago it was about $3, works really well. (I also recommend their rollup eyeliners- exactly the same as L'oreal).
If you can't find that, try Covergirl LineExact or L'Oreal Voluminous Marker.
what is the best cream eyeliner?
1. Stila Smudge Pot
2. MAC Fluidline
3. L'oreal HIP High intensity
4. Jane Be Pure mineral
im not sure if number 4 is still existing but i heard they discontinued it.
SO WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE BEEST??
I love the Stila one, especially in bronze. Lasts forever and soooo worth the money, I always get compliments when I wear it.
I've also heard good things about MAC Fluidline.
Don't like the L'oreal.
Haven't tried the Jane yet, but it's cheap and worth a try.
would anyone recommend this cream eyeliner?

I bought it and hated it. Came out thick, chunky, and horrible, made me look like a racoon.
whats ur favorite high school memory and why
It's hard to pick just one!
Our senior trip to Santa Cruz (this beachy town with a boardwalk, etc) was amazing. I was at a really small school so there were only about 20 people. We had a barbeque on the beach, did rides, got totally suburned. Definitely one of the best times I've had.
The other one that sticks out was at my old school...I did drama for 3 1/2 hours and it was so much fun. The crazy six hour rehearsals, quick changes, missing entrances, blasting music backstage...so much fun.
what is a good chapstick that actually has a flavor? i bought some dr. pepper chapstick today and it doesn't taste like anything. :(
Lipsmackers, specifically the cherry coke or french vanilla black cherry coke kind. Strawberry's good, too.
