about

The name is Leah. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I really love to give advice! I have been here since November of 2004. But prior to joining here, I was always been seeked for advice. Still to this day, my primary concern is always helping someone out in need.
I am likely not the best columnist here, but I can quarantee I am very dedicated and concerned when I answer a question. If I answer a question you're not satisfied with, I will ask why, so I can try my best to change my answer. I only give people information that I know; not information that I might know. And if I notice a columnist giving you a wrong answer, you'll know I'll be correcting their response!!
I do allow everyone and anyone to ask a question. I may have listed favorite categories, but I really have no preference. I do love making new friends!! It's no problem to contact me by e-mail or IM. I do have a Myspace, and I will gladly give it out if asked! If you ever need advice, if you feel like ending it all, if you feel like no one cares, I am here!! Talk to me.. I will listen and I will help you!!
♥Leah

i got fingered like 6 or 7 days ago, and it still hurts!! does that mean somethigns like wrong or something?? [by the way, its NOT my first time getting fingered.]
The person whom fingered you probably went too deep or did it too hard and/or too fast. It's normal if it hurts for a few days (no more), but not normal if nearly a week. If it persists or worsens for a couple more days, contact a gynocologist.
I have little red bumps going across my chest. What are they???
They could be several things: Pimples, rashes, and other inflammation from itching or scratching.
For OTC (over-the-counter), try Aloe Vera (which cools and soothes skin), Hydrocortisone (for any itching or scratching), or for pimples use Nature's Cure all over body medicine.
If you are completely unsure what you are seeing, contact a Dermotologist.
I was just wondering,
is vitamin water good or bad for you?
cause I drink a lot of it and I was just wondering.
Thanks
Any kind of water is good for you compared to any other beverage like soda or milk, and Vitamin water is really good for you. But most of them contain carbs, sodium, or calories.. and most of the time sugar. It also has artifical preservatives, which can also be bad for you. So, Vitamin water is good for you and your body, however, it is always best to drink regular water.
So watch out for the sodium, carbs, calories, and sugar!
ok so all i want to know is do you HAVE to be 18 to drop out? I dont want anyone sayin that im making a mistake because i've heard it all before and i dont care its my life and i will live it how i want and if i am making a mistake thats fine i will have to live with it so dont tell me what a huge mistake i am making.
It should be up to you to make the decision. But you can drop out at any age, but you have to have a parents' consent. You go to the office or counseling center for paperwork to drop out of your school, but you need your parents' signature(s) and written permission from the school and state. There's no other way out of it, unless you stay home for more than 20 days straight (maybe less -- depending on state or school regulations), and end up going to jail.

ok so i just got my tetenus shot today and i know your arm is supposed to be soar, and mine is. its really tight feeling and stuff, and i was wondering if there was any way i can relieve some of the tightness or if i just have to wait it out
When I got the same shot my doctor just recommended me to take some ibuprofen for it to relieve the pain and it works. And the pain will last a few days so whenever the pain comes back, take another dosage of it, and the pain will go away for awhile!
My sister is the youngest in our family and suffers from depression and anxiety. Unfortunately, she also suffers from agoraphobia and has been housebound for over six years. She still lives at home with our mom who seems to be enabling her condition. (My mother is separated from my dad and would otherwise be alone in the house.)
Although I live a fair distance away, I try to go over when I can and get my sister out of the house by taking her to the store. But otherwise, she doesn't bother going out. I have a couple of other siblings who are of no help.
Additionally, as my husband and I get closer to retirement age, he is starting to get concerned that once my mom passes away, that my sister will become my responsbility.
My question is how (and if) we should get her to take that first step towards recovery. I know from personal experience that one must actually WANT to get well before actually doing so. However, it's been a LONG TIME now and doesn't seem to be taking an steps toward recovery. (She's refused all offers of counseling.)
Any ideas you can give me would be much appreciated.
I have a friend that suffers from agoraphobia as well. And she tells me at [most times] it's hard to get out of house. She has a big fear of getting out, but she needs comfort of her family to be there with her.
Tell her that there are so many opportunities just outside of the house, and tell her it's ok to be afraid but she can't go her whole life staying in a safety zone. Try to give her support. And without counseling it could take her weeks, months, or even years to make some kind of progress.
Try taking her out to the store. Something simple and not-so-far away. Even some convenience store up the street would be a great start. Even better.. your backyard. Take her out there for awhile and see how she likes to spend the outdoors. Or take her to a nice restaurant for awhile.
Other options would be to encourage her about the idea of getting out. Like I said earlier, give her advantages of going outside. She could do so many things, and tell her if she goes outside for a few minutes each day, eventually she can live independentally and won't have to hold herself captive in a house.
Also, medication for her anxiety would help as well, if she has prescription, make sure she takes it before attempting to take her outside. And same for depression. If you do not have prescription. You can find over-the-counter medication to relieve anxiety. Here is a website on anxiety and how to help people with it, and it also offers medicine you can buy online (http://www.vitacost.com/science/hn/Concern/Anxiety.htm).
Here are some helpful websites about your situation:
1) http://www.anxietyinsight.com/treatment.php
2) http://allpsych.com/journal/phobias.html
3) http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/16246/tips_for_treating_agoraphobia.html
Just don't give up on her. My friend may have it but she finds the courage inside of her, and steps out, and tells me just taking the risk is worth it. Just remember to encourage her and help her take the risk. Some times she may refuse to, but convince her to.
Hopefully I helped. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to leave me a message. Good luck =)

Hey, I have a 3 month old hamster and she was pregnant, VERY pregnant. She was so fat that she could barely walk. She had 4 babies on July 6th, and wouldn't take care of them, so they all died!!! :[ But, she is still huge and still has a nest, and gets nippy at me when i try to pet her. Could she STILL be pregnant with more babies?
Thanks
Yes, it could take a couple of weeks to either get all the hamster pups out or it could be excess body fluid in the hamster. And I have experienced this before about hamster pregnancy and care. I take care of hamsters so if you have any more questions about hamsters you can always leave a question and I will be glad to help!
What can you put on your skin to make it softer?
Some great ingredients to help your skin become softer are Vitamins A, C, E, and Aloe Vera. You can find these ingredients in most lotions at drugstores nearby. They'll have these listed on the front of the bottle so you'll know it's in there.
well theres this girl and she said she wants to kill me. what do i do. im scared he means it. HELPPPP!! we really arent friends but idk if she was jk or is serious. ive heard stoires like this b4 where people dont take it seriously then like, get killed. what do i do? (we are 13)
If you are sure she sounded serious, contact the police or an adult that you trust. This can be potentially serious if you don't act quickly. If you are sure she was kidding try to talk to her, and tell her if she meant it or not.
one of my best friends is reall y mean to me. everything i do is wrong and its always MY fault. she gets mad at the littleist things. all i have to do is call her cell phone and she starts a HUGE fight. im sick and tierd of it!!!!!!! but shes also best friends with all my other best friends and she rides my bus. so i cant avoid her and its kinda hard not to be friends with her since we have been friends for a while but i dont know what to do!!! i need help so i would love it thank in advance!!
Try to be patient with her and calmy try to talk to her. If you are doing nothing wrong with absolute assurity, just don't talk to her for awhile. If your friend asks why you haven't been hanging out with her as much, or talking to her lately, tell your friend the truth; tell her she is always starting arguments and fights for no reason at all, and ask if she can change that behavior. If she can't understand then don't be friends with her anymore.
Tonight my dad mistakenly caught part of the family garden on fire. Does it have a chance of coming back. If so, how do I take care of them(cucumbers, shuck peas, and watermelon). If you don't know don't answer. Also please try to use correct grammer or I'll mark low. If you tried then its fine.
No hard feelings
Jenni
Actually your garden will more likely come back but within just weeks or months. But just to be safe try getting rich gardening soil and new plants and flowers to help fasten the process. For the cucumbers, peas, and watermelon, buy some more seeds and plant them. Sometimes they can come back by remaining survived seeds in the soil, as well.
okay, seriously.. i must be an insomniac. it's 5:27 am and i cant sleep, i cleaned my whole room, bathroom and kicthen to give me something to do, and im hyper as ever still, for the past 2 months i have not been able to sleep, and when i do sleep i sleep to much, what is rong with me? am i going insane???
You're not insane. Actually, many people encounter this problem a lot. Millions of americans do. And it does not sound like you are suffering from insomnia, from the way you have been explaining it. But there is a potential risk of you getting it. Do you ever feel anxiety, tension, are you depressed? Does anything bother you as you are trying to sleep? Or do you wake up with distracting sounds? Ask yourself those questions, and try using sleeping pills. To naturally get yourself to sleep, use the pill "Melatonin", which is the "sleeping hormone". It is fast and all natural, so you can use it for a long period of time. Try that first, they can be found at any drugstore or some grocery stores. If that does not work, contact a doctor about your symptoms and problems and he/she migh prescribe you stronger prescription medications. Another thing you could try is meditation, which calms and relaxes you, making you more likely to fall asleep faster and easier and getting a full night's sleep. And I have the same problem but I use (currently) Melatonin, and they work great! They help me fall asleep faster and easier, and I go the whole night without waking up like I used to.
if i started to shave my arms, would the hair grow darker and longer?
ps. my arm hairs are black
Yes it would grow darker and longer. But the only choice you have is to keep shaving it and making sure it won't grow back. Do it on a daily basis or whenever you feel stubs.
hi im 15/f and my boyfriend 16/m andi are gonna have sex but i wanna kno is there a way i can make my down there smell better for him so it wont be all ew for him plzz help i rate high!
For one, try practicing proper hygiene. Shower, put on deoderant, and a little body fragrance. Also there are creams, powders, and pills that are designed to get rid of the smell "down there". For quick tips you can eat some fruit and whichever fruit you eat it will most likely smell like what fruit you ate. That also works.
My dog just got put down. I miss her so much, how do I learn to forget about her?
I am deeply sorry to hear about that. It is at most times difficult to get over a pet or person that you love. And I know how you are feeling. My cat had to put down a year ago and to this day I miss her, but what I did was go through a grieving process. First you got to understand that life goes on, and there are things out there to overcome the feeling. Like try getting another dog, maybe a cat. Or spend more time with your family and friends and talk about how you are feeling. That almost always helps. Don't let this interfere with your everyday life. And know that your dog is in a better place.
Hi, i have pink eye and i was wondering if it's normal to have like crust around your eye and on your eye lashes when you have it? Thanks in advance. ♥
Yeah it is normal. When I had the pink eye I would wake up with dry crust all over my eyes. And to treat it you just got to soak a rag or towel with warm water and rinse your eye(s) out with it.
my boyfriend and i have had sex before. i love him and really care about him and i wouldve rather lost it to someone i care for a lot now then i wouldve to someone when im 21 and dont care about them. for our 3 months he got me a ring, a really nice ring, but it wasnt a promise ring or anything he just likes to buy me a gift every now and then so i have something to remind me of him. sometimes i feel though that because of the ring and because of having sex [he was my first] that im trapped. i mean right now im happy with him, but about a month ago it got weird and i felt like this was never ending, we broke up, but got back together, but i mean, is it just me or does everyone seem attached to their first?
Yes, it is normal to feel that way to your first love. You feel attached, and not wanting to be with anyone else and to keep that person forever. Don't feel ashamed of what happened in the past. And also it sounds like you are getting a little insecure about your relationship. Try taking it a little slow, talk with your boyfriend about the relationship and keep in touch, so you will get the feeling that you have him, and you care for him and that's what matters.
Ok, well I had this boyfriend for a few months. He was my perfect guy, the type I've always dreamed about, my dream guy. In that amount of time, we went through alot together and I came as close to loving him as I've come to anyone ever (you know, in that way). Well, a whole lot of crap happened and he broke up with me and I still miss him like every day. I've been out and about alot and my girls have been like wicked supportive but it's been a few weeks and I still cry about it every day. I can't stop thinking about him or anything and I feel pathetic. So how can I get up and move past him?
It takes time to slowly get over a boyfriend that you truly loved and cared for. I had quite a few boyfriends that it took me several months just to get over him. Try hanging out with your friends more often and have a good time with them. And also, try going out with other guys if you are up to. (If not that's OK). Don't feel pathetic at all about how you are feeling. Things will get better. It usually does. Or you can try talking to the guy you were with to see if there is a possibility of going back together soon or later on.
