Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

I need some advice. What would be a good Fashion School to go to in California? Also, I was wondering what I should study in. I love learning about the new trends. i like to study what and not to wear. Fixing Up Outfits that need finishing touches on them before they hit the runway.Although, I don't enjoy sewing. well I dont wanna give to much info.. but basically, I need to reply a text message from my crush in a funny kinda stupid way, like he wrote something along the lines of " i cant focus on summer school when all i think about is you, me and whipped cream" lol so im thinking im gonna play dumb and say something like "when you say whipped cream..are you talking food fight?" but thats lame, bt you get the picture right?? I wanna play stupid lol, even though he'll know im playing..

lol I can usually whip up something pretty good with stuff like that (pun not intended) but I'm having a brain freeze right now. Maybe an episode of friends will inspire you?

i have blue eyes and brown hair well how can i make my eyes look bigger .. everyone is always saying how pretty my eyes are ... but i want the to stand out more what can i do ? and how can i wear my hair to compliment my eyes && i have really gross eyebrows i hate them they like curl and there wayy long.. HELP PLEASE
If you have smaller eyes, use white or a nude shade of eyeliner and rim your bottom lashes to make your eyes bigger. If you have big eyes already, use black eyeliner to rim the bottom to frame your eyes. Use blue shades of eyeshadow or purple (purple goes with all shades).
Face framing layers frame your face as well are your eyes. Try making a bun but letting a few wisps of hair down.
Your eyebrows need to be properly shaped or they'll destroy your entire look. I would recommend going to a spa and getting a shape done and then just mantaining the look. It shouldn't be too expensive.

how do u get a hold of those home improvement shows on tv? i was thinking for my mom's birthday, i could have them come over or something, maybe like re-do her bathroom or something. and do they cost a lot of money? because i know that on other shows like that,they give people money to spend for the show. but, i think that is more on "fashion improvement" shows lol. please let me know. any information will be helpful for this

anyway, my crush just said "i have something in mind..what about i take you for a ride when i get my G2?" now im assumin his talking about a car.. but when i googled it i got MOSKVITCH G2, which appearently is some super expensive sports car, so could he be talking about some other car, or something else maybe?? or is this really a car people can by.. like maybe its not a big deal.. just like any other car??
Oh god, I don't know. Well, he could be talking about the Glasspar G2. It was a sports car first manufactured by Bill Tritt in 1949. The price might have shot down.
Or it could be one of the fixed letters at the back of the car i.e. 2005 Ford Mustang GT that make up the package.
Honestly, I've spent an entire semester taking Auto and I haven't heard G2 in their auto lingo so he's probably just trying to act cool and impress you. doesn't know what he's talking about anyway and prays to god you don't ask him what it is.

well just before i walked into 7-11 with my little sister and this guy who looked about 14 was with his friends and he was like "i dont know you" and i turned around thinking he was talking to me and he was. so i just gave him a weird look. and hes like "REALLY I DONT" so then i walked away and i was whispering to my sister about him and he saw me and like smiled. um, is there any reason he did that big scene?

I just dyed my hair a dark red/burgundy color and I really like it. How can I make it last as long as possible before having to color it again? Any tips or advice much appreciated!!
I know, my hair is red too and red is the hardest colour to keep.
I suggest using shampoo only 2-3 times a week and conditioning otherwise.
Use a good shampoo and conditioner (I use Dumb Blonde by Bedhead TIGI)
Use a protector before your straighten or blow dry (Catwalk Fashionista Smooth and Shine by TIGI)
Use a toner (Silver) once a week to bring the colour out again.

My husband has planned our summer vacation every year since we have been together. With the exception of last year, we traveled out of state to my nephew's wedding. (He now says that was my turn at planning)
Usually we do things that I am not interested in, but I go along with it because I want the kids to have fun. At the beginning of this year he agreed I should plan the vacation. I planned on a fishing/boating trip. He agreed at the time, but has now changed his mind. He told our 12/yr old son (the older kids aren't going) we will go to World's of Fun and a baseball game. (without consulting me) I don't like the rides, and I don't like baseball. He won't take the boat due to gas prices, and besides we have the Missouri River out our back-door. I tried to work out a compromise, but he won't budge. I told them to go without me and I will find something else to do here.
He says now, thanks to me the vacation is cancelled, because he refuses to go without me.
I don't want to dissapoint my son. So now what?
Ok sit down, take a deep breath and then go talk to your husband. Tell him that he hurt your feelings and that you wish you would have discussed his plans with you beforehand.
Secondly, get together and plan an entire new trip not involving boating or baseball (look at http://travelwithkids.about.com/ for ideas) and get started on that.
Then agree to split up the planning of the next few vacations or agree to plan them together and not tell the kids until the final plan is confirmed.
Remember to tell him that you don't appreciate him talking for you to the children and ask him not to do it again.

Hi! Im 15 and i have an interview for a job working with jewelry. And i have never had a job or have been interviewed before, im so nervious! So a couple questions:
1) What kind of questions are they going to ask me? I'm feeling negative because i have never had a job or Experience, which is important right?
2) I dont have fancy clothes. Just jeans and shirts, you know..what should i do?
3) I was at OzzFest all day today so i'm beet red on my face. What should i do about that?
and last..
4) I have a lip and nose piercing. Should i take them out, and then after the interview ask about the facial piercing policy?

1) They'll probably ask you about why you want the job so read up on the company history and come up with a good answer. They'll ask you about experiences you've had and about your character. The fact that you haven't had any experience will only effect the types of questions you're asked. Just keep in mind a few situations when you've "been frustrated with someone and how you've handled it". Basically, they're just trying to get a feel of what type of a person you are.
2) Jeans are a definite NO. Ask anyone. I would suggest you borrow some dress pants or a skirt and a blouse off someone. Good impressions are a must.
3) Pick a foundation and help someone fix it for you.
4) Take the piercings out (unless the nose piercing is ethnic, i.e. you're from the East or Native American, then you can keep that one on). You can ask them about it at the end of the interview but make it clear that you can take the piercing out for work.

well im always around this really adorable kid that im starting to like. i pratically see him everyday =) but i wear the same things alot because they're my favorite clothes! and since i see him almost everyday i cant wear the same thing in the same week. but im not rich and i have to buy my own clothes and i dont have like any money and my friends arent the same size as me. i know this guy shouldnt care what i wear but when i feel "prettier" i have more confidence. what do you think i should do or can do? im getting SO sick of my clothes.
You should go take a look at value village. I can afford my clothes but I buy stuff from there anyway and take them apart and make new outfits.
You should start making clothes, Fabricana and places like it have a few patterns you can copy but I would just wing it.
You could also use bold jewelry and make different outfits just by wearing them in a different way. For example, you could roll up your jeans to turn them into capris one day and roll them up some more to make them shorts.
In the end, honestly, boys barely notice clothes unless you're wearing something that shows off your assets and that's not the type of attention you want anyway.

Okay this is really embarassing....I went to the movies with my boyfriend last night and we decided to see Nacho Libre...well halfway through the movie I had drank a large soda and I really needed to go ut I didnt want to miss the movie. So then this really funny part happened and I laughed until I peed my pants...I was SO embarrassed and I couldnt get up because I was afraid he would notice to when we went to leave the movie I just rapped my jacket around my waist. On the car ride home he put his hand on my thigh and squeezed...I was so happy! I've never really be touched by a guy (I know I'm a weirdo) and I'm really excited and like a a crazzed fan touched by their hero I'm not sure if I want to wash the pants. I know its gross...but would it be too weird to not wash them and keep them for sentimental value? I wanted to ask my friends but I was WAY to embarrassed to ask people I know. Oh my gosh pleaase help!

I know about girl obsessions and I know how hard it is but seriously, how long are you going to keep them unwashed? They're just a pair of pants and you'll probably want to wear them again some day (i.e. your anniversary). Plus, he's your boyfriend, he'll touch you all the time now. Aside from that, as far as hygiene issues go, you should wash them.

ok, so right now, i only have 1 piercing in each ear. im thinking about getting more, but the thing is i either get a lot, or stay with only a few, because thats the way i like it.
so i was thinking:
3 on each ear -- 1 ear would have 3 in a row, and the other would only have 2 in a row, with a cartilage.

That isn't a lot of piercings. I have two on each ear and one on my right cartilage/upper helix. It doesn't look very freakish. You should go for it.

he broke up with me today and his reason was because he's looking for a girl whose a "woman of god" & that isn't me. he called me back about 3 hours after he broke up with me, and said that he had talked to his best friend & he heard a song that reminded him of me. & he wouldn't know how to go on without me. also that my religion doesnt really matter right now we just have to live each day by itself.

You need to a talk to him and explain that you were heartbroken when he dumped you because of your religion. Tell him that he always looked for more in him than god and you thought he felt the same way. Tell him that if he wants you back, he has to keep you. Have him swear that if you two break up, it won't be because of religious differences (if he's truly god's boy, he'll stick to it). Lastly, watch yourself and be weary. If you see strange signs of him acting up again, be alert. Your heart is in your hands now. Don't be twice fooled.

The word is Pussy. Pussy can be used to describe a girls genitals or it's something that they may call someone who they think is weak.
