Interview tomorrow!

Question Posted Monday July 17 2006, 12:23 am

Hi! Im 15 and i have an interview for a job working with jewelry. And i have never had a job or have been interviewed before, im so nervious! So a couple questions:
1) What kind of questions are they going to ask me? I'm feeling negative because i have never had a job or Experience, which is important right?
2) I dont have fancy clothes. Just jeans and shirts, you know..what should i do?
3) I was at OzzFest all day today so i'm beet red on my face. What should i do about that?
and last..
4) I have a lip and nose piercing. Should i take them out, and then after the interview ask about the facial piercing policy?

Thanks so much this will determine if i get a job or not, which i really need to help afford school and other things. Thanks again. <33

Congrats on the interview, obviously your application looked good. First I agree with most everyone else, no jeans, khakis or a skirt are good. Also make sure you take out the piercings. I would NOT ask at the interview about the piercings, wait until you get the job because anything you say during or after the interview will be taken into account as to whether or not you are the best candidate.

Most interviewers use standard questions with few diviations. First know how to answer "Why do you want to work here" and telling them that you need the money is not a good answer. I usually go for the answer about how I have always had an interest in Jewellery and I feel that by working here I will not only gain valuable experience but every day will be a learning experience. Also mention how you like working with the public if your job is in retail.

Also know the answer to what will you bring to the company, a good answer is usually something like enthusiasm, a fresh perspective and a willingness to learn.

I hope these help if you need any more help just ask, also don't be nervous the more nervous you are the more silly things you tend to blurt out!

GOOD LUCK

What i would do is look at clean cut as you can. I would wear dress pants and a nice shirt with closed toed shoes and take out your piercings.
also maybe put foundation on to cover up some of the sunburn.

if they see you walk in with jeans they prob wont even give you a full interview they will want you out and the piercings will make it even worse

jewlry is something prize alot and they want to go to someone who looks clean cut and profession and who they will know looks like anice trusted person.

with the inteview they will ask you alot of questions about yourself, school, other activities, and how you will fit into their company well

theyre gonna ask you stuff like where did you used to work and why did you leave it and tell me a lil bit more bout urself and stuff like that.just keep cool, dont give them the feeling that your nervous or theyll think your not ready.i think you should take out the nose and ear peircing to give a better impression about yourself and just wear a short skirt and a matching top.good luck:D

Don't wear jeans if you can avoid it. Khakis, skirts(assuming you are a girl), black pants, dresses, and such are all fine. If you can, borrow them from some one. If you absolutely must wear jeans, wear the darkest pair you have, because the darker the jeans, the dressier they are. And wear a nice shirt. No t shirts. Put aloe on your face for the burn. Then apply foundation on your face before the interview, and dont forget to put it on your neck to, you want to blend well. Definitely take out your piercing. And as for the questions, I've never been to an interview either, but my friends have, and they got asked questions such as "what are your positive qualities that will assist you in this job" "what will you bring to the team here at (wherever)" "what are your qualifications" "why do you want to work here" and questions like that..

Good luck!

1) They'll probably ask you about why you want the job so read up on the company history and come up with a good answer. They'll ask you about experiences you've had and about your character. The fact that you haven't had any experience will only effect the types of questions you're asked. Just keep in mind a few situations when you've "been frustrated with someone and how you've handled it". Basically, they're just trying to get a feel of what type of a person you are.
2) Jeans are a definite NO. Ask anyone. I would suggest you borrow some dress pants or a skirt and a blouse off someone. Good impressions are a must.
3) Pick a foundation and help someone fix it for you.
4) Take the piercings out (unless the nose piercing is ethnic, i.e. you're from the East or Native American, then you can keep that one on). You can ask them about it at the end of the interview but make it clear that you can take the piercing out for work.
