Fashion School

Question Posted Tuesday July 18 2006, 7:22 pm

I need some advice. What would be a good Fashion School to go to in California? Also, I was wondering what I should study in. I love learning about the new trends. i like to study what and not to wear. Fixing Up Outfits that need finishing touches on them before they hit the runway.Although, I don't enjoy sewing. Thanks for the help!

You have to learn how to sew. If you go to FIT for example you have to make an audition piece from scratch with your own hands. And that means you have to use a sewing machine and a needle with thread. If I were you I would be practising.

face the facts. you need to like sewing. you need to be passionate about it. it needs to become your life. if you can't handle that then go into marketing, not fashion. if you market fashion you choose what is made and not made. there may or may not be sewing. you could also become a make-up consultant and work at fashion shows if you want to be closer to the runway.

as for things you need to know for fashion school: you need to sew very well. both hand and machine. you might also need to know how to use a serger depending on the program. you'll need extensive 3 dimensional art training and a good base of knowledge. fashion is not easy cutting and draping onto a model. get experience now and see how you like it.
