I can not concentrate anymore Posted Sunday May 28 2023, 9:16 am
hi. I am in university and although I procrastinate, usually I am able to get myself into the "studying" or a concentration headspace easily, especially when I have to do something on time. but these two months I have been unable to focus at all, I won't be on my phone but I'll sit and stare around or think or I'll eat and eat instead of studying.
lately, I have been feeling very sleepy throughout the day. at first, I thought it was just the fact that I pulled an all-nighter so my mind-body needed to rest but it is so hard for me to not want to sleep when the clock hits 4pm.
my exams have started an I can not bring myself to study or do anything like clean my table or pick up my shoes. I used to pray and re...

Prenursing student; need advice on self-esteem and college? Posted Tuesday April 12 2022, 8:31 pm
Okay, I'm gonna start off by saying I've been through literal hell with my mental health. In my past, I've attempted, contemplated, and fantasized about suicide too many times to count (which I haven't done either of those three again in years, so don't worry!).
I can vividly remember having anxiety issues as far back as first grade.
I've never had the psychotic issues with my mental health, but I've mainly just dealt with too much depression and anxiety issues than I could handle at some points in my life.
Anxiety and social anxiety were a little worse than my depression even though my depression was absolutely awful. I used to not be able to even set foot in Walmart it was so bad. I couldn't s...

Please help me get back on track after my grief Posted Thursday September 30 2021, 11:30 am
I'm 28 years old and I have an associate degree in graphic design.
In future I want to work online in company to create websites, but my past is on my way.
The problem is that during my studies in college I have been in terrible condition, my brother had serious illness and I was afraid I would loose him. I was in grief every day, I cried and had panic attacks. Also I had night mares for many months every night and I just couldn't sleep at all. I would wake up at 2 am in the middle of the night crying becouse I was scared from night mares. I wasn't able to memorize anything or to understand anything I was studying at that point. My teachers wore quite understanding and extended time on my homework so I could complete it and ge...

Career and transferring university Posted Saturday February 13 2021, 3:05 pm
I am a 19 years old girl studying Computer Science at an average university in a small country. Education has always been a priority for me. I really want to become a great professional and I am happy and ready to do a lot for that. I know that I should work hard, do my university homework properly, do more than just the homework, do internships, be active, volunteer, and so on. I know that it is also about the little things. it's about how I spend my day, about whether I have enough will-power to solve that one problem, read that one page, learn those 10 new English words every day before I go to sleep. Those little things will add up in the end, they will become big after a year and that's how I will be different from an average professio...

Age when graduating and family pressure Posted Thursday November 7 2019, 3:54 am
Hello,
Background:
-----------
I am studying Computer Science at a well-known university. I suffered from lack of responsibility for a year and as a result I failed few courses twice. I never appreciated what I had, the fact that I got accepted on such a great university, and having the most supporting parents.
I got now another last chance this semester to pass the courses that I failed in, I am quite scared, but I feel different now since I got motivated since the start of the semester.
My question:
------------
Week number #2 has finished now, around 12 weeks to go for the semester before exams, I hope everything is alright, but my main question her...

I'm a very negative person I immediately give up on things because they look impossible. Please, can you help me? Posted Thursday October 31 2019, 8:08 am
hi! I'm from Philippines. I'm an IT college student, but I don't know what to do in the future. Lately, I'm not attending any classes since I'm confused since I cannot focus on my class. It seems that I'm not qualified on the course and I'm weak at studying, I don't even understand a thing. I always felt like an idiot because I don't have any talent or a unique mind. it does seem I don't have a brain because when I try to listen on something and rethink it again, I can't remember anything so I fail in my exams. I always felt empty and lazy since I don't have any idea what I'm going to do if I graduate. I want to go to Japan and live there. Right now I'm studying their language because I want to be a translator but it looks impossible since ...

So I just started my first semester of college and decided to major in Information Technology because I know this is such an In demand career but I never really cared for computers and programming stuff like that.My passion is writing and creating characters in my head(weird I know).I would love to be able to do something like animation maybe but my drawing isn’t the best and I know this is kinda a male dominated field plus I’m a woman of color.Im really scared that I’ll make the wrong choice should I change my major to the arts or stick to what I have and give it a shot.

poor kids in college Posted Monday August 19 2019, 9:24 pm
Hello there, I'm a female American high school student, and like most Americans, college is financially stressful to even just think about. I have great grades, a great track record, great school participation, and pretty much everything that should set me up to be an attractive applicant for colleges-everything except money, that is. It's pretty annoying to have to think about, but it's the truth. Obviously, scholarships are a thing and I am going to aim for it, it seems like even the cheap schools are an arm and a leg.
But this is all stuff I'll have to deal with. Another thing I'm worried about is being able to fit in, being able to enjoy campus life. To be clear, me going to college would be a first on both sides of my fa...

Summer classes or no? Posted Wednesday March 27 2019, 10:38 pm
Hey there, I'm just gonna cut to the point. I'm a freshman in college, and I was planning to enroll in some summer classes this summer. One of the classes I'm wanting to take is at a community college, so I'd be paying out of pocket. My situation is, is I'm unemployed (I have been to several interviews in the past year), have a few bills to pay, and my checking account is getting kind of low. I really just want to take this Calculus class this summer so I can be done with my degree's math requirements asap. Is it worth taking a risk with my money and signing up for that class? Or just wait for another summer? Thanks.

Transferring from Mississippi State but where should I go? Posted Thursday January 31 2019, 7:46 pm
I am currently a freshman at State and I’ve really got my heart set on transfering for two reasons.
1.) Money.
I’m from Tennessee and I pay out-of-state tuition at MSU. My parents pay for my college and I don’t want them paying for me to go somewhere that I’m not happy.
2.) Comfortability
State is great and all but I don’t fit into the social scene. It’s a complete party school and everyone there drinks, smokes, and parties almost every day of the week. and honestly, if you’re not greek, there’s basically no way to get involved on campus.
I’m looking for a school that will help me grow. I want classmates who want to go out and have fun but know when it’s time ...

Unsure Whether to Do Recruitment for Business Frat Posted Wednesday January 30 2019, 1:02 am
I got an email from a business frat whose info session I went to saying they selected me to join an invite-only portion of recruitment based on my interactions at coffee chats and info sessions. But, I didn't go to their chats and left the info session before the networking portion and I don't know anyone in the frat. So how did they choose me?/Should I go to the event they invited me to?

Should I bother with the job interview? Posted Friday January 25 2019, 2:36 pm
Hi so, I'm gonna make this as short as possible. I'm a freshman and just got called for an on-campus job. Potential problem is, I'm taking 18 credit hours/5 classes (ungodly amount, I know). I'm just finishing up my first year core stuff (Bio 2, Chem 1, Pre Calc, all with labs and American lit and music appreciation online). I took most of them in high school. This is the first and the last time I'll be doing this, as a result my remaining semesters will be lighter. I just wanna get some experience in the workplace for my resume (1st job) & extra cash. So should I go ahead and nail the interview or pass it up? Thanks.
