Well ANYWAYS *cough cough*... I know TONS about animals, as well as dog training and stuff. Haha, I also know a lot random things...
advice
I always like the guys who are nice to everyone. Which is great, but I can never tell if they're just being nice to me, or flirting with me. How can I tell if a nice guy is just being nice, or if he really likes me?
See how they act around other girls. If he acts differently then he probably likes you, if not he either a) just likes you as a friend or b)he flirts with everyone. Also, just go with your gut. Your first impulse is usually right. Like, when he's nice to you do you feel like you're "special" or that a girl in one of your classes could easily say the same thing to you? Just go with your feelings. =]
Ok this dog we just got is perfect! She's a black lab and adorable. She doesn't touch anything during the day except her toys. And she never leaves my brothers side when they're sleeping.
But the only thing is, she doesn't like to go in the kitchen. When she does, she goes in there for whatever she needs then she whimpers and backs out. Why is she doing this and what could we do to make her feel more comfortable in the kitchen?
And, she won't eat her dogfood. Whyyy? XD We're suggesting she doesn't like that kind..But she does eat treats. So that is a possibility. We're going to try another flavor. But how could we, other than get another flavor, get her to eat what she already has?
Thanks. :)
First, a lot of dogs and especially puppies don't like walking on linoleum or other slippery surfaces often found in the kitchen. As you've probably seen, laboradors can be quite clumsy and add clumsy with a slippery surface... not very fun. xD The young stages of a dog are the times where they are "imprinted" on by their experiences. So if early on she had a bad experience it could have imprinted onto her. However, puppies can be easily "molded" so take this time to get her used to it. If it's because of the flooring, try putting some rugs on the ground so she feels more comfortable. Give her treats in the kitchen so she associates getting them with being in the kitchen. ^_^
Secondly, how many treats do you give her? XD Sometimes if you continuously give dogs treats they'll stop eating their own food because of course, treats taste so much better! So if you give her a lot of treats I would cut back on those (I know, it's so hard to resist giving them to a puppy!). If she still doesn't eat, you could mix in chicken broth or moist cat food or something thats hard to refuse. You can start out with 50% cat food and 50% her food and gradually put in less and less of the cat food or whatever it was that you mixed in to add the flavor. You could go and get another brand/flavor of dog food as well. Some dogs (like my own) just don't like certain brands. XD
Have fun with your puppy!!
I have 2 guinea pigs; One male (now 1yr plus) and one female (now 10mths). We've put them tgt for about 3 mths already but the female doesn't seem to be pregnant at all. I've seen the male humping her. Sometimes the female doesnt move while humping but most of the time she keeps jumping up and running away whenever the male goes near her butt cos she's rather jumpy bout people touching her butt.
The female guinea has most of the signs of pregnancy such as salivating a lot, craving for lots of fresh greens but then she has been like that even before mating with the male. Her stomach doesn't seem rounder or bigger although she kinda looks fatter around her butt.
1) Can someone tell me if she's really pregnant and what are the other signs that shows she's pregnant?
2) Can we still continue to put the two of them tgt forever?
1) She probably is pregnant. I bred my pet rat once and for weeks I thought for sure she was not pregnant, but then (it seemed overnight!) her belly suddenly became huge. It just goes to show that the only way to know for sure is time. =]
2) Once you know that she is pregnant its best to seperate the two. (Speaking about my experience with a pregnant rat) females like to be alone in order to make a "nest" for the babies and also once they have them they become really protective so to be safe I would keep them seperate. I suggest getting the male neutered (yes, you can get guinea pigs neutered) after you've had the litter just so you don't end up with a giant swarm of guineas, and once you do that and the babies are full grown you can definitely put them back together! Guineas like company. ^_^
Another note: I had pet guineas that had a litter once. I was only like 5 so I don't remember much (tha'ts why I only mentioned my rat) but what I do remember is this; BABY GUINEAS ARE SOOOOO ADORABLE! ^_^ If your female does have babies, have fun! It's a great experience to raise them.
ok, i have lots of moles on my arms, legs, face, back, stomach, EVERYWHERE!!
and it's so embarassing, i stopped wearing skirts because of it, they're so dark and so many of them
how can i make them less noticable?
any advice will help
thanks in advance!!
You can use cover up, but you could also go to your doctor. I've heard that it's really easy to freeze off moles, and there may be over the counter products you can get at like Rite Aid to freeze them off as well. ^_^
do any of you know how to retouch photos? like covering up acne and stuff? would appreciate help very much.
There are lots of nifty computer programs (Adobe Photoshop especially) that you can open up photos and cover up any blemishes. If you don't have the program and don't want to buy one (nice programs cost a ton) then you could ask family and friends if they have one. Once you have the program it's really simple to retouch anything in a photo. If you have Adobe Photoshop you can message me and I'll give you a detailed description of how exactly to cover up acne. ^_^
Why would a chunky girl tell a skinny girl that the skinny girl is average and size 10 when everyone tells the skinny girl she is skinny and size 4?
Jealousy. If someone thinks another person is prettier, skinnier, more popular, etc. than themselves they will often tell themselves or even that person that "They aren't that great." They make themselves feel better by making the other person look worse.
What are some ways to coop with depression? I'm seriously depressed and I don't like it. But I refuse to go to coucilling so keep that in mind.
Find a close relative or friend and explain to them how you're feeling. Have a deep conversation and really "let go" of a lot of emotions that you may usually keep hidden. It really helps to have someone there to always support you and just be there to listen to your problems. Just talking about your problems can solve a lot more than people think. =]
I have a male dachshund 3 yrs old (yes the the that pees in the house ) I just had my female fixed 8 days ago. And My puppy(her son) nine month old Piebald, got ran over yesterday ( still crying)I need to know if i can breed the dad with his daughter? As i have 2 of his daughters in the area. And life isnt the same without a puppy ! And hoping for another Piebald.
Thank you N Wade
You should never inbreed dogs. Dachshunds (unfortunately) are prone to back problems and as well as others, and inbreeding will only give you an unhealthy pup with an increased risk of such diseases. If you really want another puppy I suggest going to the shelter and finding one there. Although they may not be all purebreds, you could be saving their lives. =] Also, you can check out dachsund rescues as well. ^^
I have always wondered this, when a dog looks in a mirror can they see their reflection? My dogs never react and just look like they are staring at a wall.
Thanks ! :)
I'm pretty sure they can, cats definitely as well, but like you I've never seen them react in any special way. The only animal I've ever seen react to their reflection was our pet cockateil. xD
I have a female, seven year old dog that is a rat terrier. For almost four months, she has had a bump on her right side. It's about half the size of a nickel. What could this be?
It depends what you mean by a "bump". If its more of a ball kind of shape, it could be a small tumor, it's not uncommon for dogs (or horses as I have commonly seen) to get very small tumors that never grow very large and are harmless, but I strongly advise you to see a vet to make sure it isn't harmful. =]
I don't know why I've suddenly thought of this, but here it goes. My dog, Lucky, is really old.. around 16 or 17. He's a small dog, and is doing well for his age, but he is really old and getting slow. It started occuring to all of us that he's going to die pretty soon, probably within a year. I don't know how I'm going to react when that happens, but as they say, that's life.
My question is, if any of you have had a dog die naturally, or by being put to sleep, who took care of the remains? I know it's a crazy question, but does the vet have someone take on that responsibility?
Many people will have their dogs cremated. But when my family's last dog passed away, we took her home and buried her in the backyard. I personally like the idea of "giving your pet back to the earth" if you know what I mean. It's all a matter of preference and its completely up to you.
I love my cat a lot. I spoil her. I spend so much money on her, including on food, treats, toys, and little cat furniture (like beds and such). But almost every time I feed my cat food, she eats a little of it, then starts kicking the bowl with her front paw, and scratching the carpet, trying to cover up the bowl (even trying to put stuff in it like a sock that was next to it, or her toys). I have no idea why she is doing this! I sometimes tried to stop her, but in a way I also think she has a good reason for doing it.. so I am not sure if I should anyway. What is my cat doing?? And what should I do?? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure if it's the same with cats, but my ferret pushes his food bowl around to knock some on the ground. He will only eat out of shallow bowls that are really low to the ground but anything that he has to lean his neck over he will try to knock over. But anyways, it might be a combination of this and that lots of animals will hide their food instinctively (my dog hides biscuits in the bed for instance XD). As long as she is eating and looks healthy weight wise, I wouldn't worry about it. ^^
hi well my i have a dwarf rabbit thats about a yr. old. he is really cute and everything but i can never take him out because he is always nibbling on things and stuff so i have to keep him in a smaller place whenever i let him out. Does anyone have any ideas what i can give him, like toys rabbitsl ike, or a good place for him to run around.
thxx xo Amber
I used to have a "dwarf" rabbit as well (the pet store owner told us she was a dwarf rabbit.. but she grew to be humongous XD). ANYWAYS... heheh... there are lots of things available at pet stores that you can buy for your rabbit to chew on (I don't think rabbits really "play" like dogs or cats do) and what we used to do for our rabbit was get a large pen (tall so she couldn't jump over it) and put it outside in our backyard for a few hours (with her food and water bowl). She really enjoyed being in the grass and burrowing a bit in the dirt, she'd also have fun chewing little branches and sticks. It's really good for rabbits to get some air outside of the house. But just as a safety precaution, don't leave them outside too long if it's really hot or cold, always take them in at night, and check up on them every 20 minutes or so to make sure they're ok. Another thing you could do is to "rabbit proof" a specific room, that is, choose one room to be completely rabbit friendly where you can hide all wires, etc. without a problem.
How can I, a female under the age of 16, help abused, neglected, homeless, etc. animals? Every shelter that I;ve heard of requires you to be 16 to voulunteer and I cannot adopt another pet. (I've asked, pleaded, begged). I'm thinking of raising money or donating supplies and setting up boxes at random places around my community (continue with what my girl scout troop started) Any advice or suggestions?
You can try starting a club at your school whose whole purpose is to set up activities to help raise money, supplies, etc for homeless animals. There's one at my school called "Animal Rescue Club." The more people you get involved, the more you'll be able to do. ^_^ Good luck!
can i use a plastic bowl non see through for my beta fish just for one night will he be ok if he cant see through the bowl
Yes, that's perfectly fine. If you are transporting the fish, or cleaning out the tank, etc. it's good for them to be in the dark, it makes them feel safer.
Does anyone have any good ways to get yourself to fall asleep at night? Particularly at slumber parties?
Thanks to anyone who answers :)
Before you go to bed you should completely relax, and not excercise, for at least an hour. If I have trouble falling asleep, I'll drink a cup of warm milk, it really helps! Try it!
i have a parakeet and he poops seriously about every 5 minutes, and its not normal poop either.its sometimes watery and yellow/white.could he be sick?if so do you know what he might have?
thanks in advance.
That's normal, birds poo A LOT and OFTEN, about, like you said, every 5 minutes or so. It's what they do! They eat all the time, poo all the time. Birds only have one "hole" called the cloaca, and that's where they release all waste, so it's a mix of urine and feces, which is yellow/white and watery (changing slightly in color, etc. depending on what they have eaten).
hi. well i have three budgies and decided to start training them. so today, i put my hand in the cage and i was holding millet spray. and after a while, they came and sat on my hand and ate away, and i was overjoyed, thinking that they were trained in just a few minutes. but then i decided to stop for the day. after 20 minutes maybe, i went to the cage and put my hand on the cage, and they go from one perch to another. why did they forget that they can trust me? is this normal or not? please answer ill rate 5's :)
It takes quite a while for birds to trust you. You can't give them food once and then they like you, they still don't trust you. Over time if you keep feeding them, and not forcefully picking them up against their will, you will gain their trust. It just takes a lot of time and patience. :)
what are green tea pills?i hear all they do is make you go pee a lot. what exaclty do they do and how do they help with like losing weight?
rate high!
They are just pills that contain the same antioxidants that green tea does, that are REALLY good for your body. But since I wouldn't take the pills, just drink the tea! Same thing, but tea tastes better and you can enjoy it. Haha! It doesn't really help to lose weight alone, however, it makes your body healthier and antioxidants can help you body filter out all the "bad" things.
so my prom is in 9 days, saturday april 22nd. i just got a cold sore today, i've been putting carmex on it and its not getting bigger but does anyone know any quick fixes?
thx!
I would DEFINITELY recommend Abreva. It's like the best cold sore medication out there, and it works beautifully! Also, as well as putting on medication I recommend taking Lysine tablets (ask a pharmacist or someone for the proper dosage needed). Lysine "tricks" the cold sore virus into thinking that it's already spread, so then it stops.
