tropicalbabe33 answered Saturday May 20 2006, 5:44 pm: Here are some great tips:
If your room is blue or lavender then your lucky, if not then put blue/lavender/cream accessories in your room to create a calming environment, its also good to have all the lights off, but if you dont want to do that, sleep with a dim nightlight.
An hour before you go to bed, start to wind down - have a bath (you could do this at a slumber party too), lie down and read (at a slumber party when everyones tired you can lie in your sleeping bag and read a magazine) or watch a movie in bed.
You need everywhere to be silent, so turn your phone off and tell anyone in your house not to make too much noise.
While your lying in bed, start thinking about a fantasy - being on a tropical island, snogging your crush ... whatever, you will soon fall asleep and start dreaming about your fantasy!
Hope I Helped,

Vikki27 answered Saturday May 20 2006, 12:44 pm: Through problems I won't go into, I am used to sleeping with a lot of noise around me. I'm also scared of the dark so when I moved in with my boyfriend (who ALWAYS sleeps in the dark), I started leaving the television on, just loudly enough so that I could hear it, but I put it on Sleep Timer so it switches off automatically after an hour. You might be able to convince your friends that you'd like to keep watching something while you're lying down and that way you could try to fall asleep. I know it sounds weird but it really helps me!
Also, if I don't want to have the noise of the TV, I sleep with a lava lamp on next to the bed. The lava glowing and going up and down relaxes me to help me sleep and I'm not completely immersed in dark because of the light coming from it.
The only other suggestion I can make is Lavender oil. It's recommended by a large number of people, as it helps to relax you. A lot of shops sell sleep or relax kits and the majority, if not all of these will contain a lavender oil, bath cream, scented spray or some other such substance. Try putting a squirt or two on your pillow or dropping one or two drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue and put it inside your pillow. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]

Notso answered Saturday May 20 2006, 12:50 am: getting to sleep at night is easier if you have some kind of ritual before you fall asleep that way your body knows it's time to sleep. Some of the relaxation things people mentioned are good, but for other people it might just be the ritual of brushing Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, helps too.
If you know you're going to have trouble falling asleep at a sleep over, maybe sleep less the night before that way you're too tired to get anxious about sleeping away or in a room full of people. It's not the greatest idea, and you definitly shouldn't make a ritual of it. [ Notso's advice column | Ask Notso A Question ]
the.incredible.mable answered Saturday May 20 2006, 12:47 am: I recently had very bad Migrane headaches, and I went to Biofeedback, which is a medical treatment, that helps you to relax and get rid of stress. There were several excersises that I did with this young lady. She gave me a CD of her voice guiding me through the excersises. One of the most effective things to do to relax your body, is to take VERY DEEP breaths. With each breath, when you exhale relax deeper into the bed. Tensing and relaxing your muscles works very well, too. I would look into getting a CD of either ocean waves (which can actually hypnotize you to sleep) or a biofeedback CD.
xoxDaneCookRox answered Friday May 19 2006, 10:11 pm: I always have trouble sleeping. You just have to lay down and clear you mind of everything. Just relax and dont think about sleeping. When you think about tryin to sleep it makes it harder.

the best way to fall asleep is to be relaxed. calm yourself down a bit before you go to sleep otherwise you will be very restless. reading a book/magazine can also make some people sleepy. if your having a very hard time go to walgreens and get some pills that will make you sleepy (they are over the counter pills and not very expensive.) however, if you do get some follow the directions on the bottle, don't over use them. if you are sensitive to noise when you are sleeping try ear plugs, and if you are sensitive to light try those masks you put over your eyes.
