While I am still young, I have had a great deal of life experience. It is from this that I give advice. I am open minded and try not to be judgemental. If I can help in any way, I will. Just ask. However, like everyone else in this world, I am not perfect. My advice may not always suit you, since my experiences are not the same as yours. If you want clarification on any answers I give, feel free to ask me. If you don't like what I said, or if I offended you, let me know. This is the best way for me to improve on my responses.

I will admit it. I am a terrible dancer. I have fun dancing, but I look like a dork. I'm going to a Halloween dance thing with my boyfriend, and I'm at a loss as to how I'm going to dance with him, because although I have the slow dance thing worked out, I tend to look a little crazy when I boogie down to fast music.

Anybody have any tips to keep me from looking like a total loser on the dance floor? I shy away from the skanky grinding, but it may be a necessity.

I learned a little about not looking dopey dancing when I lived in Mexico and went to a local dance every Wednesday. I was told that the basic two-step is all you need to know. Just two steps forward, two back, whatever, in rhythm. Move your hips as well, and your body will follow.
I am guessing you don't know what to do with your arms. That seems to be the problem I've run into most myself, and seen more others deal with. Just keep them on your bf or close to your body, but not like hugging yourself. Let the music guide you and don't worry how you look. You won't be the only one who feels silly, and you won't look as crazy as you will feel at first. After only a short while, you will feel more comfortable.
Most importantly, have fun with it. So what if you look crazy?
Oh, also, is this a costume thing? If so, no one even needs to know it is you :P

Me and my best guy friend talk all the time on AIM. Mainly every night before school. But I have 2 classes with him, and he RARELY talks to me in class. Is there a reason for this? It kind of makes me upset.

Guys and girls just don't talk well in person a lot of the time. There are a lot of reasons why he might not talk to you in class. For one, it is in class. He may just be trying to pay attention. Or, he has his guy friends he hangs out with in school. Or, he doesn't know how to talk to you in person (could be a small crush doing that). Or, perhaps he is wondering why you aren't talking to him.
If it bothers you, talk to him about it. It seems you are more comfortable talking online, so next time you are online just ask him why he doesn't talk to you at school. Don't whine or complain. Just flat out ask him. Don't offer reasons either. Whatever reasons you give him, he will use. Say that it won't be a problem if he has a reason to not talk to you in person, that you just would like to know what it is. Then, accept his answer and get on with your friendship.
Or, you could just start conversations in school. Start small, then increase time. It will help to get the awkwardness out of the way. You could even talk on the phone. It isn't as personal as in school, and not as impersonal as online. It could be a good transition. It is how I talked to my friends when we weren't at school or otherwise together. Of course, that was pre-internet :)

K this is a serious question but my periods ALWAYS beeen messed up but like 2 monthes ago i slept with this guy and he asked me if i was on birth controll and i said no .. and he didnt wear a condom .. but he pulled out in time .. and he said he even did .. but i havnt yet got my period and im a little freaked out weather im pregnant or not .. and I dont have money to buy a pregnancy test ? .. do you think im pregnant just from those sings and is it possible that i could be pregnant if he pulled out but he still wasnt wearing a condom ??? please help me ASAP????

Yes, it is highly possible you are pregnant. Pulling out is not even close to reliable.
If you do not have money for a test, look for a planned parenthood or other similar clinic. Many do tests for free, and offer counseling on your options. Or, many dollar stores have decent tests. Just because they cost a dollar, doesn't mean they don't work.
If you find you are not pregnant, I highly recommend getting on birth control. However, even if you are on the pill, use a condom. The two together are more effective than one or the other. Another advantage to the pill is that it will help regulate your periods.
Also, with your irregular periods, I suggest you see a gynecologist. You could have something wrong, like PCOS (check webmd for more info on that). If treated sooner, usually with birth control pills, it can prevent some serious problems later.
Good luck, and next time take precautions.

Um, how did you get that scroll bar for your column?

I honestly don't know.
I know I went to column settings to choose the design, color, and layout. I didn't realize that some columns didn't have scroll bars.
I just looked at my column settings, and the setting I have is one of the public ones called "Your Space."
I didn't do anything special to alter it.
Perhaps the scroll bar came from having a lot of questions and answers.

ok well me and my boyfriend had sex but i have my period now so im pretty sure im not pregnant and it was protected sex..but i was just wondeirng people tlel me different stories but can you be pregnant even if u get your period?

Yes, some women do bleed, like a period, when they are pregnant. Some have bleeding monthly, but it is very rare. Many will have spotting, or light bleeding, the first month after getting pregnant. I did. My doctor told me that it is something that happens when the embryo attaches to the uterus.
However, if you had protected sex and this is actually a period, not just light spotting, I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't get your next period, get a pregnancy test for good measure. They are even sold at dollar stores, and those do work.

No explanations please, just a straight up answer.

Is it easier to get pregnant before, during, or after your period.

Thanks

Right in between periods is the most likely time to get pregnant. However, I got pregnant literally 3 days after my period ended. It is different for everyone.

I am so scared. I share lipgloss sodas utensils and cups with my friends. One of them has a cold sore, or some kind of fever blister that just went away. my mom and my other friend thought they were getting one, and my friend has oral herpes, and she found this out recently. Ive shared the above with them, and recently ive realized my mouth is hurting and is very chapped. when i put some regular lipglosses on it hurts, so i use blistex, or sally hansen chapped lip repair. ive always had rashes but their coming up again. im not very surprised about that but im still freaked out their coming back now. do i have mono or herpes or some oral problem?

Cold sores are caused by a strain of the herpes virus. So are chicken pox. Like chicken pox, most people get them at some point in their life, often as kids. Unlike chicken pox, they will come back, usually when you are stressed or ill (which is why they are called cold sores) because that is when your immune system is lowered.
There are many medications, both prescription and otc, that shorten the duration and ease the symptoms of cold sores. I have had good experience with Herpecin, which is an otc chapstick type product for cold sores.
If your mouth is hurting all over, it could just be seriously chapped lips. Especially if you have always gotten rashes. Just keep treating them as you have been. I know I get very chapped lips at this time of year. They get very sore and even cracked. It is annoying, but not anything to worry over.
It is also getting to be cold and flu season. You could easily have a cold sore that is showing up because your immune system is fighting something else. Try to rest more and treat yourself as though you are getting a cold. Take vitamins, drink a lot of healthy fluids, and don't share drinks and stuff for a while. In fact, it isn't really a good idea to share those things anyway. If it is a cold sore, those things should give your immune system a boost and help you get rid of it faster. If it isn't, the extra fluids will help the chapped lips from the inside out.

Hey I really like this guy lets call him "T" ok well T is really sweet has beautiful blue eyes and totally doesnt know i exist. I have a twin brother who is in one of his classes and i always see him in the hall and we sometimes have eye contact and smile but i wouldnt call it flirting. So he know that im Kevins (my brother) twin but he doesnt know my name or anything about me. I know alot about him from my brother but my brother doesnt want to be involved in this. Ive helped him with someting in the class once but we didnt really talk. I dont really have guts to talk to him but I dont know what to do!!!! HELP!!!!!! The sadie hawkins dance is coming up but im way to nerves to ask him what should i do. Thanks!!!

Hehe. I remember having this exact situation when I was in High School. The guy's name even started with T and he had the most incredible blue eyes. He also had perfect blond hair.
Anyway, Sadie Hawkins dance came up. I was so nervous about asking him, but I had friends who practically forced me to. So, I just gave in and asked, despite my nerves.
He said yes.
So, just ask him. What is the worst that can happen? He could say no, and then it is done for now and you won't be a nervous wreck anymore. Or, he could say yes and you will be relieved and glad you asked. Either way, it isn't as terrifying as it feels right now. Once it is done, it is done. Just get it out. Even if you have to just blurt it out when you see him. That works too, btw, and is said before you know it. And somehow, I've found that I always got a good answer from it :)

in middle i checked out this book from my school library ireally liked. it was a poetry book and one of the poems was called "Dust" and another was something like "Why Nobody Pets the Lion at the Zoo". anyway, now i have to memorize a poem for one of my classes and i want to do one of htose ones since i liked those poems but i can't remember the name of the book. it had a really long name that ended with "a note to (or from) a friend" or something like that. i really wish i could remember the name so i could find it. i think it also had one called "Valentine" and one about superman in it. if you can help, please do.

"Why Nobody Pets the Lion at the Zoo" is by John Ciardi. It can be found in a few books, including "Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle" and "The Collected Poems of John Ciardi."
As for the other poems, there are many with those titles which makes it difficult to find them.

Good luck finding what you want!

Edited to add:
I just looked at the contents of the Watermelon book (using Amazon.com) and it has one called Dust in it as well, and Valentine. So, there you have it.
I also wanted to thank you. In my searching, I found books that I would love to read with my son.

I'm starting to get really pale again because summer is over : (. So i was wondering which way is the better way to get tan? Indoor or Outdoor tanning. Which one is the safest and will do the least harm to your skin? Thank-you!

Either way, the tan is coming from UV rays, which are very harmful to your skin. If you want a tan without damaging your skin and risking skin cancer, use a sunless tanning product. There a many types out there. I don't know which is best, and I am sure what is best for you may not be the same as what works best for others. I would take a look at them in the store and see which appeals to you most and give it a try.

Hello, Im 19 years old and have been taking different types of pill for 3 years, im not great at taking this and for the past month ive been forgetting alot or taking late. I was 5-6 weeks late from my period and have very tender boobs, i was scared to carry on taking pill so stopped but now after 3 days i have come on my period which is vert heavy and painful, i was wondering if i could still be pregnant and its just the pill thats made me come on my period or whether ive had a miscarriage? Im a bit of a worrier and not sure what to do or think. Hope you can help at all?
Thank you.

To be honest, it does sound possible that it is a miscarriage. It could also be any number of things other than that. You could have cysts that cause your period to be late, then heavy and painful. You could have endometriosis, which also causes that. The only way to be sure is to ask your gynecologist. In this case, it is extremely important. If you did get pregnant and have a miscarriage, they will need to check to make sure there is no tissue left in the uterus or anywhere else. If there is, it could be dangerous to your health. If it is something else, like cysts or endometriosis, you will want to know asap in order to keep things from getting worse. Believe me, you don't want those to get worse. I had to have a laparoscopy to remove large cysts and scar tissue because I was in immense pain. It was not fun. So, please at least call your doctor to see if you should go in. You will most likely need to. In the meantime, don't get too worried. Whatever is happening is, for the most part, done for now and you will be able to get it all taken care of. Stress and worry will only make your period come later, and it will make the pain feel worse.
Please let me know what you find out. It will help me know more about this type of problem, and I will know that you are ok.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any home remedies/purchasable things that would increase the speed of hair growth (on my head, of course). I want to grow my hair out, and I'm pretty much too impatient to wait a few months.
Thank you.
:)

My gynecologist actually suggested prenatal vitamins for stronger, healthier hair. The higher levels of folic acid and such are good for hair.
Another thing that is supposed to be good is adding paprika to your shampoo. It supposedly stimulates the scalp, helping hair growth and health in the process. I tried it for a while, and my hair did seem to break less and was softer. But for all I know, it could have been my choice of shampoo at the time.
However, hair can't be made to grow faster, only healthier. Healthier hair will have fewer split ends, which means less breakage, which means your hair will stay longer.
You can count on about 1/2"/month growth.

is it posible to get TSS and it to go away? because out of Headache (very common), Muscle aches ,Sore throat,Cough, Nausea and vomiting, Diarrhea (profuse and watery), Abdominal pain, Lightheadedness or fainting (especially on standing up), Confusion or disorientation, and Low blood pressure (systolic less than 90 mm Hg), which are the common symptoms, i had the all other that cough and low blood pressure (but i didnt check that one).

please tell me if that sound like anything else too.
thanks!

Regardless of what it is, it sounds like you would benefit from a doctor visit. TSS is very rare, and requires medical diagnosis and treatment. Your symptoms could also be from flu, strep-throat, or a myriad of other illnesses. All can likely be helped by a doctor. Your lightheadedness could be from dehydration caused by the diarrhea. A doctor can give you something to help all of that. And if it turns out to be something minor, you will have that relief of having found out. In the meantime, get some rest, drink a lot of healthy fluids, and so on, as though you were treating the flu. That should help you to avoid making yourself worse.

I'm having some irritation in my vag and anus, like they are both REALLY itchy all of the time and sometimes after I wipe (when going to the bathroom) there is a little bit of blood. I don't think it's a yeast infection because I'm not seeing any yeast. If it helps I'm 13, have my period, and not sexually active. Thanks!
-Lexi

You won't necessarily see yeast in a yeast infection. How long has this been going on? If it has been a week or so, I would definitely think it is something that needs to be checked out by a doctor.
If the blood is when you wipe, it is possible that you have hemorrhoids (and yes, this is possible at pretty much any age).
You could try tucks wipes. They have witch hazel, which is an antiseptic/astringent and can help with irritation. It will be more gentle than dry toilet paper, so even if you just have really sensitive skin it should help.
Again, you should probably check with a doctor just to be sure.

My boyfriend and i leave together. When we come back from work/school e.t.che just sits there and i do the housechores even when am tired.I want him to know that am sometime too tired to work and need help around the house.I wish he would help without being pushed to,how do i tell this to him politely without hurting him and at the saame time convincingly?

You need to talk with him about the housework. Tell him you need him to help out. Ask him which jobs he would prefer to do and flat out tell him which ones he needs to do, as long as you have a good reason that he must be the one to do those. For instance, emptying my vacuum and cleaning out the cat's box trigger my allergies so my husband has to do those. Other than that, we have just agreed on who does what. If you wait to talk to him, you will likely just keep doing all the work until you explode at him, and that is not going to go well. If you talk to him when you are doing well together, and you remain calm and open to ideas and suggestions, it should work well. Devise a reward and/or punishment system you can both agree on. I know that it sounds like something you would do with kids, but it works for adults too. It will keep you both motivated more. It has to be equal though, you both need to agree on how it will work. Also, if you say that you need help because you are tired, he will respond with "well, I'm tired too." And, unless you do the same job, he will probably pull the "and my job is more demanding. I deserve a break at the end of the day!" Now, that is just a quirk about men. They don't know what women do all day and they convince themselves that they work harder. (Men, please don't give me grief about this. I have known many men and this seems to be a pretty general rule. Yes, there are exceptions, but that doesn't change the rule)

To sum up: Approach him at a calm time; talk rationally with him; work out a plan that you can both agree on, being open to his ideas; don't whine or complain; use rewards to keep motivated.

which vitamins will help make your hair healthier or grow faster? because i heard there is one that helps things be healthier. and i drink ALOT of orange juice! what vitamins do i get out of that ..if any? and what does that help me out.

THANKS!

Prenatal vitamins are supposed to be good for your hair. That is why my gynecologist told me. She also specializes in weight loss, internal medicine, and hair and nails. This woman knows what she is talking about. It may seem wierd to get prenatal vitamins when you aren't pregnant, but really, they are just vitamins. They have higher quanities of things women of childbearing age (if you get your period, you are that age whether you are ready for kids or not) need more of. They are also supposed to be good for replacing stuff lost during your period. So, that is what I would recommend getting.

Im 13/f

SO.. this girl in my school likes my boyfriend. Shes constantly hitting on him and flirting. So the other day i went up to her and told her to back off. Now she is hitting on him MORE just to get back at me. She is REALLy ugly and thinks he likes her, but he doesnt. How can i get her to stop hitting on my bf? Any advice it greatly appreciated!!

There isn't anything you can do about this girl. The more you try to stop her, the worse she will get. However, your boyfriend can put a stop to it. Talk to him. Say something like "I know you won't leave me for her, but it is really bothering me to see the way she acts around you. Would you please ask her to back off?"
If he tells her to stop, she will continue for a little while out of denial. If he tells her again, firmly, she should stop.

i dont know if this goes here but w/e now this is embrrasing to ask ok so is it normal or abnormal to have one mipple bigger then the other one? i mean like one is bigger then the other so is there any thing i can do to make them the same size besides any type of surgery???? please help me i feelakward asking this but w/e

As much as we have been told that the human body is symmetrical, it isn't. One whole side of the body is slightly bigger than the other. Some parts of the body will be more noticeably so, but it is likely only you will notice. Also, depending on your age, it could just be a matter of one side having catching up to do. Besides, do you really think a guy is going to notice? Guys brains totally turn off in the presence of naked breasts. Believe me, I've seen it happen many many times.

ok im 13/f and i really want to have sex and like its like i really need it. its weird cause i like get these erges to do it. is this normal for a 13 year old?

Yes, it is normal to desire sex at this age. Your body is starting to produce hormones and trying to figure out what to do with them. Eventually, not that long really, your body's chemicals will even out. Then, the urges won't be as strong. They will still be there, of course, because that is how nature makes sure we continue to exist, but they will not feel so strange or urgent.
Now, I had sex at 16. I do not regret it. Between then and age 20, I had a lot of sex with a lot of men. I don't regret that either. But that is my experience. Everyone is different. I am sharing it just to give a different point of view. Just because I don't have regrets, doesn't mean others won't. I was also 3 years older than you are, and that short time can make a difference.
Sure, you can satisfy those urges now by having sex, but I will tell you honestly that sex with someone you love is so much better. I loved the man I lost my virginity to. Still do. In fact, I married him.
Everyone else who has answered you is also right. You need to consider what it would be like to be a mother at 13, or to get an std. Some are treatable, but many aren't. My own mother had a child at 13. While she loves my sister, she had to grow up too fast. She missed a lot of her childhood, including all of high school.
I think you should wait for the right person. Only you will know when that person comes around and only you will know when you are actually ready. But you are not really ready unless you both are aware of the consequences and willing (and able) to accept them.
In the meantime, masturbation is acceptable and will help calm the urges. And, like I said, they will lessen over time.

is it bad to suck in your stomach like all day? can it cause damage to your lungs or anything?

All day? Well, imagine doing situps all day. While it can tone your muscles to do it for a few minutes several times a day, doing it all day could hurt the muscles. They will recover, but it won't feel too good for a few days. I would say, if you are doing it to tone up, do about 5 minutes of tightening the muscles for 30 seconds and resting for 5 seconds. Then let the muscles relax for a little bit. Do that several times, rather than holding in all day. You will tone your abs without damaging the muscles. If you make yourself hurt for a few days, that would be counterproductive since you wouldn't do it again during that time.
