Hair Growth

Question Posted Tuesday September 19 2006, 5:08 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew of any home remedies/purchasable things that would increase the speed of hair growth (on my head, of course). I want to grow my hair out, and I'm pretty much too impatient to wait a few months.
Thank you.
:)

My gynecologist actually suggested prenatal vitamins for stronger, healthier hair. The higher levels of folic acid and such are good for hair.
Another thing that is supposed to be good is adding paprika to your shampoo. It supposedly stimulates the scalp, helping hair growth and health in the process. I tried it for a while, and my hair did seem to break less and was softer. But for all I know, it could have been my choice of shampoo at the time.
However, hair can't be made to grow faster, only healthier. Healthier hair will have fewer split ends, which means less breakage, which means your hair will stay longer.
You can count on about 1/2"/month growth.

Most hair grows appx. 1/2 inch a month.
Vitamin E increases strength of the hair, which in some cases does increase hair growth.

However, there aren't any products or anything to buy to purposly make your hair grow faster, it really doesn't work like that.

If your hair is healthier, you will have less split ends which will result in longer hair because you will not have to cut those damaged ends off as often. If you use a flat iron on it, try only doing that at maximum three times a week. Also, I suggest Hydra TLC (Sunsilk) Shampoo and using a heat protectant everytime your blow dry or use any type of iron.

The healthier the hair is the more likley it'll grow longer and have less split ends.
