what is that book????
in middle i checked out this book from my school library ireally liked. it was a poetry book and one of the poems was called "Dust" and another was something like "Why Nobody Pets the Lion at the Zoo". anyway, now i have to memorize a poem for one of my classes and i want to do one of htose ones since i liked those poems but i can't remember the name of the book. it had a really long name that ended with "a note to (or from) a friend" or something like that. i really wish i could remember the name so i could find it. i think it also had one called "Valentine" and one about superman in it. if you can help, please do.

"Why Nobody Pets the Lion at the Zoo" is by John Ciardi. It can be found in a few books, including "Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle" and "The Collected Poems of John Ciardi."
As for the other poems, there are many with those titles which makes it difficult to find them.

I just looked at the contents of the Watermelon book (using Amazon.com) and it has one called Dust in it as well, and Valentine. So, there you have it.
I also wanted to thank you. In my searching, I found books that I would love to read with my son.

You could try going to Google.com and typing in the names of some of the poems. Maybe that will pull up the name of the book.

If you can't find it then I would give up and find another one. one spacific poem is not the end of the world. try finding a new poem.
