To be honest, it does sound possible that it is a miscarriage. It could also be any number of things other than that. You could have cysts that cause your period to be late, then heavy and painful. You could have endometriosis, which also causes that. The only way to be sure is to ask your gynecologist. In this case, it is extremely important. If you did get pregnant and have a miscarriage, they will need to check to make sure there is no tissue left in the uterus or anywhere else. If there is, it could be dangerous to your health. If it is something else, like cysts or endometriosis, you will want to know asap in order to keep things from getting worse. Believe me, you don't want those to get worse. I had to have a laparoscopy to remove large cysts and scar tissue because I was in immense pain. It was not fun. So, please at least call your doctor to see if you should go in. You will most likely need to. In the meantime, don't get too worried. Whatever is happening is, for the most part, done for now and you will be able to get it all taken care of. Stress and worry will only make your period come later, and it will make the pain feel worse.
Please let me know what you find out. It will help me know more about this type of problem, and I will know that you are ok.
