After spending about a year and a half on this website, I have decided to call it quits.
Most of the people on here are lovely but I think I misunderstood the purpose of this website. I thought it was a safe haven for teenagers to go to when they wanted honest answers that weren't the textbook excerps they would get from regular counselors.
I did not think that the answers I had would have to be sensored to suit the head moderators opinion of right and wrong.
Regardless of that, I will always stand by all the answers I have given. I will and have never "advertised" anything illegal or harmful but I have never closed the door on someone who was debating a potentially illegal or harmful situation.
I hope the advice I have given on this site has proven helpful to some and I hope that anyone who ventures to this website will find what they are seeking.
God bless you all :)

About Mara
Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

I just had a party, and we pranked called alot of people using *67 which blocks teh number. We used my friends cell phone. Did it cost money? She thinks it does so she told her mom and now her phone is taken away. Does it cost money? Thank you! Happy new year!

In Canada, it's free but some US telcos charge for it. You won't know for sure until you get the phone bill.

At what age should you first go to a gynecologist or what age did you first go? and for those of you who only live with a dad how do you tell him you need to go there?

Usually the policy is 17 to 18 or before if you've had sex.
Just tell him straight up you need to go see a gyno. Don't get into details unless you talk about that kind of stuff. If you have an aunt or stepmom, get them to tell him.

Does anyone know where I can find computer games thats only about having your own virtual life. Something thats similar to secondlife (if you know it). Like a computer game that lets you do anything you want like talk to other people from around the world, have your own house and stuff. Plus are there any where I don't have to purchase the CD to play it or pay monthly fee for the download, I just want free ones.

I don't know about secondlife but there's kind of a virtual reality thing made by coke at http://www.mycoke.com/index.html. You make your own character and build them a studio and mix songs and talk to people around the world.
Download a client like limewire and rip off music like the rest of the world.

I'l try and make it as short as possible.
I have a best friend and we always fall for the same guys at exactly the same time. It gets anoyin because we cant make a move on a guy because we dont want to hurt each others feelings.
About a month ago my friend fell for a guy and secretly i did too but she found out and i told her that i would move on again and find someone else. So i moved on and found a guy and we began to get on really well. We both flirted alot and we began to get really close. Then my best friend tells me she has fallen for exactly the same guy and she tells him how she feels. We continue flirting but then she takes him to the cinema. they are about to go out and she doesnt understand how much she is hurting me inside because she always talks about how close they are and i makes me cringe inside and i do not know how to tell her to stop talking about him and i really secretly do not want her to go out with him! this is selfish but its just how i feel and i really do not know what to do!! Please help xxx

You need to tell her, hun.
Explain to her that you moved on from the first guy for her and now shes back on your tail. Tell her that either she has to move on or no one gets him.
If you've been that good about it in the past, you shouldn't have any problems now.
However, from now on maybe you should try hanging out with people without each other so you can meet different guys to date.

I don't know what category this would go in, so forgive me if it's in the wrong category.

Let's call my friend Jane.

And let's call her boyfriend John.

Okay, well, Jane and John, who were in 11th grade at the time, decided to have sex one day and Jane ended up pregnant. It just so happens, I liked John a lot, but I knew that Jane loved him with all her heart. Now Jane is talking about how hard it is being a mother of a 5-month-old and stuff. It's sort of making me jealous.

I'm just afraid that I'm going to go have sex with some guy I don't even like to have a baby and see what it's like.

So, my question is, Is there any way I can see how hard it is being a teen mother without actually having to go through the pregnancy? Like, not like one of those psycho baby doll things people do in middle school, but like, staying with someone who has a newborn baby or something to convince me I don't want a baby? Or should I just have a baby and get it over with?

Thanks in advance!

Offer to babysit Jane's baby for a day while she goes out for some me time.
24 hours of a baby will be enough, trust me.

I'm not sure but I've been told I have OCD.
I know some things I do seem a bit odd but w/e. I'll give some examples so you can tell me what you think...
- My food cannot touch
- When I'm sitting down, people cannot touch my chair or table
- When I do my hair, it has to be perfect or I redo it
- My spelling has to be correct (caps)
- When I speak french, it has to be with a certain accent even though I'm not from the area where that accent is normal (compicated one)
- etc...
What do you think? What should I do about these things?

Totally understand, honey. I have symptoms of OCD, but I'm diagnosed with the actual thing. A lot of people don't consider minor obsessions as OCD but you have to remember that all disorders have a wide range of severity. Hypochondria is an extreme case of OCD.
You seem to have the Compulsion part of the disorder, like me, which is still good enough to have OCD according to the DMV-IV-TR because OCD can consist of having either obsessions or compulsions, or both (which are the really bad cases).
But you have to go see a doctor to be sure. They are the only people who can actually diagnose you.
I spend most of my times obsessed with germs. Well, not germs per se. I don't really care about germs. I just want everything to be "clean" all the time. The weird thing is taht I don't care if its actually sanitized. If something is rinsed, its good enough for me. I rinse everything, my purse, my cell phone, my remote control. I wipe my doors down. Just with water. It used to be really bad but now I can go a day or so without rinsing. I also spend a lot of my time deleting what I've typed or written and writing it over because it doesn't feel "right". Its strange.
What you can actually do is, let yourself get used to stuff. If your spelling is incorrect, leave it like that. When you do your hair, resist the urge to redo it. It'll be tough at times but you need to do it to make yourself better.
You can read more about the disorder and treatments over here. It tells you how even the slightest compulsions can mean you might have a little bit of OCD:

The sims 2 is incredibly slow on my computer and also choppy. I really want to play it but I can't because it's that slow. Is there anyway I can make it more enjoyable to play by making it faster and less choppy when moving around?

Same problem here. I even got more RAM and it didn't help.
I had to go buy a new graphics card. It was stupid but totally worth it for the month I was still interested in the game.
Actually, you kinda made me want to plain it again now :x

what does clear mascara do to your lashes? does it give black to it or what thanks

Its clear. Its just like gel and its used to make your eyelashes/eyebrows appear neater. It doesn't give them colour.
They're usually used by people who don't like makeup or girls who already have long black eyelashes.
Usually this is how I tell people to wear mascara, so if your eyelashes are:
Blonde and short: Use a black-brown lengthening mascara and primer
Blonde and long: Use a black-brown mascara
Brown or blondish brown and short: Use a black lengthening mascara and primer
Brown or blondish brown and long: Use a black mascara
Black and short: Use a black lengthening mascara or a clear primer
Black and long: Use black or clear mascara
Blonde eyelashes usually look like you have no eyelashes so you should always put a coloured mascara on them. But avoid black because the look is way too intense.

My sister was watching the Lizzie McGuire movie last night, and I saw like 5 minutes of it and couldn't help but notice that her necklace/choker (the silver one with the heart and the cute clasp) was adorable!!
Where can you get one like it?

Yes, Tiffanys.
Imitations are at Claire's and Icings but GUESS has some really cute ones too that have writing on the heart. They're cute.
I just can't bear spending my own money on designer jewellry :( There's so many clothes I can buy for a $3000 ring.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering, how long does it take for your stomache to shrink from not eating??
Thanks for any help, guys!

About a week but you will feel weak and dizzy in the meanwhile. You'll want to puke if you eat a slight amount over what you usually do.
If you starve yourself, you'll lose muscle mass and if you gain weight again, it'll be harder to lose because you'll have no muscles. Just flabby skin.

i have naturally wavy hair, and i want my hair to be straight permed. i know that it will eventually grow out and my hair will be wavy again.. but i don't care. i just want to test it out. the thing is, i hear it's really expensive. just how expensive is it? what if i get it done at a cheap chinatown hair salon? thanks

Japanese treatment is $200 and up if you want to get it done right. $100 and up at a cheap place where they might screw it up. $50 and up at a hair stylist academy where they may -really- screw it up.
I'd get it done from a legit source. Don't go by price. Perms are tricky and if you put a fraction more or less mixture into the solution your hair may either not be effected at all, go really curly or change texture, change colour or drop out.
I'd save up and spend $200 and make sure I don't go bald.

i'm 13. i love shopping and i'm not just saying that. i use my dads credit card when he takes me shopping but sometimes they say "can i see your lisence" and my dad shows them his. but i was wondering am i old enough to have a credit card? if not, when am i old enough?

You can't get one until you hit the age of majority in your area which is probably 18.
Right now, you can get your dad to get a supplementary card to his card with your name on it. Sign the card and voila, the card is your card but the bill goes to him. Just be careful spending. I hit the limit so many times when I was younger and when he would try to use it, it would say he couldn't buy whatever he wanted and I'd get in trouble.

what does it feel like to be high when you smoke pot? like.. how do you act? how do you feel? thanks!

Very paranoid and kind of very stupid and very smart at random times. You figure out all the answers to all the questions in the world but you actually don't, you just think you do. Sometimes it feels really good, but other times you feel like crap. I always end up crashing very badly a few hours after and feel horrible but with drugs, you always need to have a crash.
Don't do it too often, or at all. It kills your brain cells like a mother and the more often you do it, the more likely you are to be unable to have children.

Im trying to stop going to tanning beds because of my fear of skin cancer..What are some good tanning lotions (the sunless ones like Jergens Natural Glow) that are REALLY good and dont turn your skin orange? Besides Jergens, thanks :]

Try Estée Lauder's line of tanning creams. They are a little pricey but amazing.
You have to buy cream for the face and body seperatley but it ends up looking very natural.
There's also the option of buying spray and exfoliators. It's a build up tan so if you use it daily, in about a week or two, you'll have a really great tan.

i'd love any store names,brands,webs.. etc. anything you can think of!! thanks

xoxx-- JM

Suzy Shier but that isn't in the States.
I've seen something very close to number two at Claire's. It's by a famous surfboarding chick who has her own line. There was an entire rack there filled with her stuff in May. It's very beach-themed.

Ok so my friends do these things they call bashings. It's where we sit in a circle and tell esch other what we don't like each other. I hate it i think it's ridiculous casue i feel like their trying to stream line me so i'm some form of perfect friend robot.
They say it's so we don't talk behind each others back. Whenever i say i think it's stupid and it hurts me they just say i'm so sensitive and can't handle critism.
What do you think is it a good idea or stupid?
What should i do?

If you feel uncomfortable about it, at the next "bashing" tell them you're sitting that one out and that you won't take their critisism and won't give them any.
In the real world, you need to learn how to hold your feelings in sometimes. I know you've been told to speak your mind about everything, but life doesn't always work that way.
And besides, saying it in front of everyone is humiliating. If someone has a problem with someone, yes they should be encouraged to talk about it instead of feeling resentment towards that person but it should be done on a one-on-one basis instead of in front of all your friends.

How do you give a hickey, like what do you and how long do you do it for to get the hickey to show?
Thanks =)

Suck on their skin very hard until a bruise is made. Sometimes bites count as hickeys.
I don't like them :(

I can't breath well.
It feels like something is pulling my ribs or lungs together, so I can't breath well.
I have asthma, and I keep taking my inhaler, but it's not working.
I told my parents and they were like "let's wait, and see if it still happens and we'll take you to the doctor"
But it honestly bothers me.
Anyone know what's wrong?

Your lungs and your heart is something I wouldn't mess around with.
Get to an ER as soon as you can, if your parents wont take you, get a friend to drive you.
Yes, it might be an allergic reaction or even nothing but it could be something serious. Trust your instincts. It's better to be safe than sorry.

last night i was raped by my ex boyfriend, we were at a party and i was upstairs talking to my friend, then she left, he came up and pinned me down on the bed, split my legs open, and dug deep inside my pussy and raped me. the thing is, when we were together and fucked, i never really enjoyed it or had an orgasm. but last night, even though i didn't want to fuck him, it felt soo good, i had four orgasms in a row, literally, i'm notkidding, this is a true story, i haven't told anyone, cuz even though it was wrong for him to do it, i liked it. what should i do?

p.s. he's really hot

You're probably the type that gets off on that kind of thing and maybe thats the kind of sexual activity you should engage in with -future- partners.
BUT this guy is dangerous and he didn't mean to make you feel good, do what everyone else is saying. Take a pill and call the police.
