alternatives for tanning

Question Posted Thursday December 28 2006, 1:23 am

Im trying to stop going to tanning beds because of my fear of skin cancer..What are some good tanning lotions (the sunless ones like Jergens Natural Glow) that are REALLY good and dont turn your skin orange? Besides Jergens, thanks :]

Clarins self tanning gel is awesome! I have used it for about a year now and I love it! It's a little expensive, but it's totally worth it. Check for it on e-bay, it's a little cheaper on there. You can find it at any major dept. store or Sephora.com. I have never had a streak from it and it gives you a nice bronze look without looking orange. I have recommended it to many friends and they all loved it and continue to use it.

Try Estée Lauder's line of tanning creams. They are a little pricey but amazing.
You have to buy cream for the face and body seperatley but it ends up looking very natural.
There's also the option of buying spray and exfoliators. It's a build up tan so if you use it daily, in about a week or two, you'll have a really great tan.

first of all real tanning is when you subject yourself to periods of time laying out in the sun or in a tanning bed to intentionally (burn) or tan yourself. this tan, is achieved by the body producing high pigments of dead skin cells (which your body already produces) to protect yourself from harmful sunrays. sun-block Lotion is still recommended by every doctor on the face of the planet.

i agree with you on tanning beds, but ive gone once, and im not shriveling up and keeling over dead am i? do it in moderation if you must.

+ unless you want to look like an oompaloompa, you shouldnt even consider tanning lotion at all. think of it as a spray paint. you might look good, but because you have no real tan, and the second you step outside, your body will have no natural defense from the sun, except your spf 9000 sunscreen.

my recommendation - put on some low to moderate sunscreen go OUTSIDE and bake. it can help you lose weight, and, even reduce stress and HELP you skin.

I would stop using lotions and stuff.I think you should just tan the natural way.Try swimming. It helps you tan somehow.A lot of people dread tanning. In India people would think you were mad.
