last friday, i was curling my hairr and i burned my neck pretty bad. the curler heats up to 420 degrees, needless to say it hurt. a dime sized amount of skin peeled immediately. for the past couple days i keep recovering it with a bandaid and neosporin and i change it about 4 times a day. should i continue to cover it or should i let the air heal it now? and is there anything else i can be doing for this to heal soon?

Well, you've taken good care of it so far. When I was little, I accidently placed the underside of my wrist/elbow, which is very sensitive, on a stove top. It peeled off and I didn't do anything to "heal" it or take care of it and nothing ever happened to the wound. I would just let the air heal it :)

if you have sex before you even start your period will you get pregnant?

Like the person described below, it's possible, but that's only like a week before you start. Anytime before that and you won't get pregnant.

What constitutes a reason for living?

The thing that keeps me alive is the will of the fact that life gets better :) If it seems as bad as it can get, it can only get better. Plus the fact that you can do so much with your life! There are so many options for everything! Sorry to sound so optimistic and cliche, but anything is possible ha ha. I find life fun, full of interesting twists. It's like a video game kinda :)

All of my ipod songs got deleted and it looks like I'm stuck with starting over. Do you guys have any good artists or songs to recommend?

I really like acoustic sounding music like James Blunt and my favorite bands are Lifehouse and Blue October.

Also, I like Jack's Mannequin and Angels and Airwaves if you have any suggestions along those lines. :)

i dont know. thing is i dont have a crimper. i have a straightener and i hear you can try and crimp your hair with that but i don't really feel like buying a crimper. i can't curl my hair, i've tried many times and everytime it looks like crap. any suggestions? thanks!

Hm.... well my friend does something to her hair where she used a straightner but while she is pulling it through her hair, the straightner is flipped so it's kind of like she's using a curling iron but the hair doesn't go around it. When she let's it go it kind of looks like that :) oooorrrrr you could try doing what the person below me said :) Sounds like that would work too. Oh yeah, and it looks too me like she just used eyeliner and mascara and got a little bit of purple or blue eyeshadow? Goodluck! Hope I helped!

I cheated, and the guilt haunts me every single day. If I were to describe the whole, huge situation and the circumstances, it would take forever, but basically: My friend and I went to our friend's apartment. We drank, and we didn't want to risk driving home, so we stayed the night there. A guy I barely know took advantage of me, and we kissed and he tried to do more, but I wouldn't let him. I regret every second of what I did, and if I could rewind time, I would never have even put myself in this position. It was terrible and even though I was under the influence, I know it isn't an excuse.

My boyfriend and I are still together and happier than ever though, because he won't ever find out it's true (someone told him, and I denied the whole thing, which is the main source of my guilt). I think I have punished myself enough, by having so much of this guilt on my shoulders every day. It sounds very selfish & terrible, but I cannot lose my boyfriend. He means the world to me and I know how lucky I am to have found someone so amazing. We have so much fun together and I can't see myself with anyone else.

I just want to hear other people's accounts of cheating- being cheating on, doing the cheating, etc. Were you forgiven? Did you keep it a secret? What happened? Any advice/comments are welcome.

Well, I have cheated 2 times and have been cheated on once. I cheated on the same guy both times and he ended up cheating on me. He never found out I cheated on him, but my friend told me he cheated on me. To this day, he doesn't know I cheated on him.

Ok, I know this isn't your question, but I think you should tell your boyfriend. It will take a load off and you won't have to live with that guilt anymore. I know, I have the major guilt still hovering over my head. I think you should just explain it to him, tell him what happened. If he really loves you, he'll want to keep you 2's relationship afloat, whether or not there's a hole in the ship. He might not trust you as much, but it will strengthen the relationship and be much better for it in the long run. If he finds out about it from someone else later, maybe a group of people who can somehow prove it, he will lose all trust in you. I mean, wouldn't you rather here from the person who actually cheated on you than some other friend who just knows?

I would like to know about the stories of the people who have cheated or been cheated on. I want to know what happened before after and during it. Details help. Thank you. Random question, i know.

I cheated twice... Not proud of it either. Both on the same guy.

Basically, I was going out with this complete dud. Like, this guy literally had no emotions. I went to the pool once with my friend and met this guy and we swapped numbers. We started texting and it continued like that for a while until one day he asked if I wanted to hang out. We went to the mall and hung out for about 2 hours and flirted and hugged and all that jazz. When I had to go, he said "what you're not going to kiss me?" so we ended up making out...... and that's how it is.

The next account, I was still going out with this dud. One of my ex's, which is one of my brother's friends, came over to stay the night and hang with my brother. He came buy and I hung out with them too and eventually my brother fell asleep so this guy and I also made out.

However, that same dud guy also cheated on me. He had a webcam and used blog tv quite frequently. Another of my friends did the same. One night, they were in a chatroom with some kids from canada and a girl that my ex knew. Turns out, he was saying "I love you" to this girl and they were also dating.

Of course, he never found out about my cheating. I found out about his because my friend told me. The only difference is I regret mine very very much. He recently got dumped for cheating on a good friend of mine.

I am getting a guitar soon for my birthday and my parents want me to tell them what kind of guitar I want. It is going to be my first guitar that I will learn to play mainly on my own.

There are SO many different guitar brands like Gibson guitars, Ibanez guitars, Fender guitars, and Peavey guitars.

There are acoustic guitars and electric guitars.

There are even classical guitars, if I recall correctly.

What is the difference between acoustic guitars and electric guitars? Which is best for beginning on? Which is easier to play? Which is cheaper? Do they sound different?

Some advice would really help!

Well, I like acoustics, personally. Plus, they're easier to start with because their strings are more.... tight? Ha ha When I first tryed playing an electric, my fingers kept missing and slipping off the strings XD Acoustics are more soft and have a pretty sound and electrics have a more metallic and amplified sound. I don't like electrics though because you can't play them without an amp :( they sound too weird. If I may make a reccomendation, I reeeaalllyyy like the Taylor Big Baby :D great sound and bass! And really easy too play! You just have too play one to understand what I mean. Oh yeah, and you should go with your parents to the store :) it might help if you played it before you bought it.

Ok so i have a.d.d. and i can't concentrate on my work or school at all!! i mean i wanna get my grades up so bad! but i just can't concentrate on anything my mind just races and races and i just can't focus on what im doing, i can't take it. this is horribe, what do you think i should do??

Hi :) I have a.d.d too. I went to the doctor and they gave me some medication called Adderal. Ask your doctor about it, it helps A LOT.

okay october 31 was my friend's birthday, and i told her im gonna send a myspace comment saying happy birthday so i did and it was long message and a birthday funny picture and i send it at 12AM sharp but the thing is she didnt even apporve my comment and didnt even say thank you until now yet she approved her other friends birthday wishes and said thank you to them is this messed up or what?

Well, you said it was really long message so maybe she just didn't want it taking up space on her profile? Or, maybe she didn't get it? Myspace screws up all the time, it could very well have been a technical problem :D Other than that, maybe you should just ask her. Just say "hey, I sent you a comment on myspace about your birthday. Didn't you see it?" Or something of the like :) Hope I helped!

so i have to write a myth for english class explaining how something in the world works or came to be and it has to include nature or animals. it's not using gods or goddesses or anything like that but stuff like "why is the sky blue" or "why skuns smell bad" or something like that.

Oh, I had to do that project when I was younger :) ummm I think I came up with "Why there are no dinosaurs" or something and it was about how a long time ago dinosaurs were very intelligent. They could read, write, and speak. They had flying cars and shiny clothes and actually resembled humans a little bit. One was and inventor and was trying to create a time machine but instead blew up the world? Ha ha it was reeealllyyy stupid but I was like in 6th grade. Um how about some of these?

Well, first of all, if your best friend keeps stealing you men away, tell her it's not ok! She's asking you for permission, and you're giving it too her even though you really do like him. Don't freak out on her or anything of course lol just say "Well, actually I kinda really like him". Also, this might be a problem with her being more social. If she's getting to these guys before you are, maybe it's something about her personality that these guys like. When you talk to a guy you like, be a little more outgoing and flirty. Not like over-the-top, but just things like looking into his eyes and smiling at him and giving him a play full shove or something.

So, the moral here; If you like the guy, tell her when she asks for permission. If she decides to go out with him anyway, it's ok to be a little upset with her because that's just not what a best friend does :)

hmmmm well i'm 5'4 and 113 pounds, and i'm a size 2 so I'd guess you might be a size 1 or 2... I really depends on what part of your body loses how much weight and how tall you are going to grow and whatnot :) sorry that's all I got. Hope I helped a little bit!

ok so this is a very random and embarrassing question but here goes....so yesterday i was home alone and i was taking a shower. After i got out of the shower i went to my bedroom and masturbated naked. When i was done i went back to the bathroom and turned on the shower to rinse out the bathtub and while the shower head was on i heard a cough. It freaked me out so i turned off the shower and waited a bit and didn't hear anything then i heard my dog barking and my dad walked through the front door inside and went to the basement. I was freaked out because i didnt know it was my dad then when i found out it was my dad i got freaked out again because then i had this feeling like my dad saw that i was masturbating. I think i might be over exxagerating because for him to have seen me he would have secretly walked around the house and everything and there is no reason that he would sneak around the house. Plus while i was masterbating i didnt hear anything. My dog only barks when people are coming to the house and he didnt bark before the first bark wwhen my dad walked in. I think i might just be paranoid but then what would explain the cough i heard. I know sometimes we hear things and think its something when its really not bu right now i am really paranoid my dad saw me doing that and i feel really embarrased if he did. Also when i saw my dad i had asked him if he was upstairs and he coughed and he looked at me like he didn tknow what i was talking about and said i just got here. What do you think. Do you think he saw me or do you think im just paranoid and he only came into the house when i heard the door open and close? Please answer. It's fine, I don't think he saw you. And even if he did, he should be the one embarressed, not you, to have walked in on it. If he doesn't bring it up, you don't bring it up. I really don't think he did though :)

Well as the subject says latelty I've been thinking about suicide quite often.Now before you go off and say,"No! don't do it" or "You need serious help".Just shut up will you!!! Yes I know it's the cowardly way out of life and often missunderstood as to why anyone would want to take their own life.Okay I'm 15,female and currently a freshman.Since I turned 11 or right around 5th grade I guess,I began to get sick alot.Like with colds and such,I'd miss school alot and my parents would get stressed with me.Hell I'd stress out too,but that's not why I wanna end it.Now I'm in High School and been missing alot due to being ill.Right now I have some stupid pneumonia thing,not completely.I'm on antibiotics so yeah.But any way,like I said.I'm to much of a chicken to kill myself,yet that is.

This is probably not the answer you are looking for. You will probably not get any tips on commiting suicide here. If you are that much in denial about you not needing help, then you can stop reading now.

At first, I did think "man, she needs help". I still think that. I don't think you're "crazy", persay, but I do honostly believe you don't have a very good reason for commiting suicide. There are other ways to solve problems in life. Do you really want to end it all now? You're only 15! If you do this, you're missing out on so many great oppurtunities in life. You'll miss out on life itself! Do you really want to be remembered as you are now? With such little experiance in life and hopeless? It's like just giving up. Sure, there are other ways you could get around your problems, but you'd rather just not have to deal with them.

There are plenty of people who have it worse who find the strength to make it through and become very successful, as cliche as that sounds, it's true. Plenty of them never so much as thought about commiting suicide. If you do this, you're proving something to everyone who's ever doubted you. Everyone who's had an impact on your life. Your parents, your teachers, your peers. Everyone. You're proving that you're weak. That you can't handle life's problems, so you decided to take the easy way out.

Some people would even be angry. Some people die young without being able to protest. Think of a 7 year old girl who died of pancreatic cancer. I'm sure she would have loved to have your life. If you end your life, you're doing nothing to help anyone. Not even yourself. To help you understand imagine this:

It's about mid-day on Monday. Your mom gets a call at work from your school. It's your principal. He says that you didn't come to school today and he didn't recieve an excuse call from your guardians. He wants to know if everything's alright. Your mother, automatically baffled by the call, leaves work early to go to the school. She'll have a lot of paperwork due tomarrow because of the early leave, but it doesn't matter now. She walks into your school and goes to talk with the principal. He claims you didn't show up at school and all of your teachers counted you absent. She shakes her head and argues that you left for school that day.

Immediately, something in her brain clicks, and she knows something happened. She races down to the police department and bursts through the doors. The policeman helping her urges her to calm down, but she's so worried, she can't stop. She needs to know where you are. The policeman leaves to run the report through the computer and you mom calls your dad and tells him that you didn't show up at school today. He races down to the station and they sit in the waiting room, both thinking the worst.

Eventually, the policeman comes back out, a sad expression hinting through his face. Your mother immediately breaks down crying when he tells her the news. Your father silently cries while holding your wailing mother. According to the report, the conducter of the train you jumped in front of reported the incident. According to his description, it was you.

The police ask your parents to come with them to attempt to identify you. Your parents drive out to the railroad tracks and see what appears to be small, ripped fragments of your skin splattered and woven between the track beams. Your blood stains the wooden beams and the ground around them. Most of you is missing, but the policeman says that the train probably still has it stuck underneath. Your mother falls to the ground sobbing and screaming for her baby to come back. Your father stands above her crying hard but trying to be strong. He begins praying and asking God to let him wake up now. He doesn't want this to be true.

After a long time, they gather your remains in a box the policeman offers. They put it in the back seat, seatbelted in and drive back home. They decide to call your family members first. These phonecalls take long because most of your family are sobbing so uncontrollably and this causes your mother to start up again. Each phone call is about an hour or two of sobbing and rememberance. After the family calls are made, she notifies the principal. After that, she calls your ex best friend. She starts crying so hard. She starts blubbering apoligies and trying to explain why she stopped talking to you and your mother also continues crying and blaming herself.

Your mother goes through everyone's number and calls almost everyone you've ever met. Everyone is devastated.

-4 weeks later-

Your mother has quit her job. She hasn't gotten any sleep since the day your suicide occured. She's on the verge of cracking and the only thing keeping her glued together is her will to be happy. She wants to be happy, but with you gone, the happiness in her life has left. Now there is nothing to live for.

Your father has become an alchoholic. He has nothing to live for now. No one to look forward to when he gets home from work. No one to show your pictures too and proudly boast "that's my girl!". He's even considering suicide himself.

Your friends are all regretting everything they've ever said to you. They spend their days mourning your death and their nights spent lying awake, blaming your suicide for every movement they've ever made. They regret treating you the way they did. Some of them will end up in counseling somewhere down the road. One of your peers even committed suicide a week after you.

The funeral is today. Your mother wanted an open casket, but there's not enough of you to even use a casket. Your parents decide to cremate your remains. You're ashes are now held in a glass jar by your mother. The preacher reads and allows anyone to come up and speak. A lot of people are at your funeral. Many people step up and speak, recalling the past, and how you were such a great person. They all say different things. A boy speaks about how he loved you and was too afraid to tell you. A girl recalls how nice you were to everyone. Your worst enemy recalls how you really were a great person and how she was wrong to treat you bad. She admits this all to the crowd. Your teachers all remember how hard you tried in school the days you showed up.

When the service is over, there is not one dry eye in the church. A few people are too distraught to stay, but more than half of the audience remains to pray for you. Your city has all heard of the news and it was in the paper. It's much attention, but you won't know about it because you're gone.

And that's how I imagine life will go on if you do this, or at least somewhere along those lines. I urge you to get help. You could just go to the counselor's office. Though most school counselor's are older, you'd be suprised what they can help with. My 7th grade counselor helped me through what I still remember to be the darkest times in my life. Tell someone, tell your dad or mom, tell a friend, tell anyone! I'm sure you might not like this answer, but I'm pretty sure you won't like most answers since they will all say what you don't want to hear. I beg you not to do this. I myself am not suicidal, but i've known people who are. If you have any idea how much it affects everyone when a suicide occurs, you wouldn't do this. Actually, divorce rates among parents with a child who committed suicide are as much as 8 times the regular. Not only does suicide hurt everyone, it also effects them and hurts their lives also. I hope you have thought all of this through. I really, really hope you decide not too. If you want, why don't you ask to be homeschooled? Or going to a different school? You should also talk to your friend about why she is mad. Start making new friends. Just be social and live your life. Just remember, whether your peers like you or not, you are still living and existing and living life the way you want. Committing suicide only proves that you let others affect your life. Please re-think this decision.

Since presidential voting is nearing I thought of a very good question I need answered about the presidential candidates. I know that John McCain is with Sarah Palin and Barack Obama is paired with Joe Biden. So, if Barach Obama becomes president, Joe Biden will assume position of vice president. If John McCain wins presidency then Sarah Palin will assume the position of vice president. My question really is though: how often does the vice president assume presidential responsibilities?

Of course, if the president actually died while in office or if he resigned the vice president would, obviously, become president. This apparently has happened three times since World War II, right?

I am thinking this: If Barack Obama died, would I really would Joe Biden to be president? And if John McCain died, would I seriously want Sarah Palin to become president? The election is in the beginning of November and I'm still undecided about who to vote for as president of the United States!

Anyway, I seem to remember George Bush Senior assuming presidential responsibility when Ronald Reagan was undergoing some sort of surgery. Is this right or did I misunderstand something? Maybe it was Dick Cheney and George W. Bush I'm thinking of, but I don't quite remember.

How often does that kind of thing happen? Are there any other times when the vice president becomes the president of the United States temporarily? If so, how long would this normally last? Hours, days, weeks, months?

Ha ha this is how i've been thinking also, though I can't vote yet :) I figure there is a moderate to high chance of McCain or Obama dying while in office. Anyone who runs for presidant is put into that position. I think McCain will die soon of old age plus all his health problems due to being held captive and beaten. On the flip side, Obama is very likely to be assasinated, assuming the assasinators are smart and find a way to get to him. So, the real question is, would Palin or Biden be a better president?

If the predident was assasinated, of coure the VP would fulfill the president's job until the end of their term. If they choose to resign earlier, then the Speaker of the House of Representitives resumes the position. If he resigns/dies, I believe the job goes to the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate. Then the Secretary of State. And so on and so forth. However, it is highly unlikely that that many members of the presidential cabinet will die in 4 years :)

If the president is out of work temporarily, yes the vice president resumes the job. I suppose it would last however long the president is said unable to perform his presidential duties.

Anyways, it doesn't happen very often, due to the fantastic line of security protecting the president. They even have to swear an oath to take a bullet for him. Whoever does win, though, I believe we should be worrying about whether the vice president can do a good job as president if needed :) Hope I helped!

Hi, so my best friend is going out with this kid, and he's really nice to her. I recently made a new friend, and she's really awesome!
However, she likes my best friends boyfriend, and he likes her back. So, I've decided to stay out of it. But, even though I'm friends with the boyfriend too, i just found out that HE'S CHEATING ON MY BEST FRIEND with my other friend. I PROMISED her i would not tell a SOUL and i always keep my promises. But, the boyfriend found out, and he called me really upset saying how bad he felt & how he was an asshole. SHOULD I TELL ME FRIEND HE'S CHEATING, OR STAY OUT OF IT, like i promised. But, if she finds out, then she'll be really mad that she couldn't trust me to tell her that. =/.

Hm, well I would talk to your new friend. Tell her it's not right and he's also cheating on her technically. Try to talk to her and convince her how hard it is to not look out for your other friend and that she shouldn't be putting you in a position like this. I don't think you should just plain out tell your best friend about it, because many things could happen. One, she could get mad at you because she's in denial and thinks you're lying. Whether or not you prove her wrong, that will always be a scar in you guy's friendship. Two, you could lose your new friend. Three, you could cause the boyfriend to dump your best friend because most boys don't like drama. However, if your attempts to let your new friend and the boyfriend know that this is wrong fail, then you might have to eventually tell your best friend. If she doesn't believe you, just say "ok, you can believe whatever you want." that way, she won't think you're too persistant and you technically told her, so if she finds out he is, she can't get mad at you for not telling her.
