Basically, Charles Manson believed that the term "helter skelter" meant a giant war between white people and black people that he thought was bound to happen. He believed that after "helter skelter" happened, that black people would totally dominate the world. I'm not sure how he derived this from the Beatles song, but somehow he did. So when he killed people, he wrote "helter skelter" on the walls in blood.
If you ever get a chance to see the movie, watch it. It's creepy but it's interesting too.
Also, in the movie "Across the Universe" they play "Helter Skelter" during the a big riot scene. So in that context it basically means that all hell has broken loose. [ uisforukelele's advice column | Ask uisforukelele A Question ]
