Favourite quotes of the moment:
The children of Israel wandered the desert for 40 years - Even in biblical times men wouldn't ask for directions!
Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. whatever we do to the thread, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. - Chief Seattle.
We spend the first 12 months of a child's life teaching them to walk and talk. We spend the next 12 years telling them to sit down and shut up!
As you slide down the bannisters of life, may the splinters never be pointing the wrong way.
May you be in Heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.
I've been very happily married since August 1980 to a wonderful man and have beautiful twin girls, now aged 31. Both are married to wonderful young men and one of our girls has recently made us grandparents to a beautiful, smart and feisty granddaughter. I studied geology with the Open University. I am retired from being a manager in a large UK based insurance company which I actually quite enjoyed. (How sad is that?). I love anything to do with the environment and wildlife and try to do my bit for preservation and conservation. I would like there to be a decent world for our grandchildren to inherit. I also have CFS so find life a bit of a challenge at times but always hope for better health in the future.
I have a deep interest in the spiritual and the paranormal worlds, having experienced several incidents myself, and have been involved in meditation groups and groups that (safely) explore the paranormal. There is more to this life than we would normally credit, so an open mind is always the best option. You're not so likely to get caught by surprise!
I have a deep fascination for anything to do with Ancient Egypt, as you can probably tell by my name. I have statues and paintings all around the house. As my hubby has a similar interest in Native Americans, we tend to have a lot of unusual wall decorations, like a tomahawk.
I love cars, especially vintage ones, but my all time favourite has to be the Bugatti Chiron, what a car!
I have had a lot to do with animals over the years. I have fostered many, helped to set up a wildlife charitable hospital and raised a diverse range of young animals from bats to fox cubs and different species of birds, even a baby deer! I have had great pleasure in sharing my life and home with a number of animals over the years, most of them rescues. I am currently sponsoring an Amur Tiger, they are such beautiful cats and desperately need help, there are so few of them left. I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to meet some Aye-Aye's and Livingstone's Bats, a truly wonderful experience. We now have three cats, Oliver and Mollie, a brother and sister, he's a ginger and she's a tortoiseshell and a black and white called Daisy. She arrived in a taxi and was left on our doorstep in a cat carrier with the message that 'they knew we loved cats and would be good to her'. She has settled down well and gets on wonderfully with the other two.
If you have a pet that is showing ANY signs of illness or distress, please, please, please take it to a vet! Even if finance is an issue, work that out later. It is cruel to leave an animal suffering for any reason. Most animals do not show signs of illness until they have been ill for some time, basic instinct tells them it is a display of vulnerability, and certain death in the wild. Their instincts have not caught up with domesticity.
I do feel that we should all treat others as we would wish to be treated. Bad karma comes back to haunt us.

I'm dog sitting this weekend! and the dog (butterscotch) died! I just came home and he was curled up under the couch. I don't know what to do!!!!!! they're coming back tomorrow, and its only a year old! omggg
If you found the dog curled up he's unlikely to have died from choking on something, or in pain. It sounds as though he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Due to his young age, it's possible he had a congenital problem that hadn't been picked up on.
Let his family know as soon as you can, so that they don't come home to find him like that and see what they want to do. You could take him to their vets as they may be able to find some clues as to the possible cause of death.
I'm so sorry that this happened and I hope you recover from the shock soon.
oka here is the problem i got this cat and we had her for all most a year and she had kiitens.so like few days before she had her kittens we got this puppy and we had her for like 2 months, so my cat had her kittens but the problem is everytime my cat see the puppy she would always attack it and the puppy dont do noting to her. so what should i do to make it stop!
If your cat has kittens she is going to see the puppy as a potential threat to their safety. This maternal instinct should not be punished, as it is a totally natural reaction.
You just need to keep the puppy away from wherever the kittens are until they have grown up a little, particularly if the puppy is 'bouncy'. When they are ten to twelve weeks old the mother should start to relax a little. After this time, re-introduce the cat and the puppy, not letting them stay in the same room together without supervision, until you are quite sure there will not be any further problems. If you are keeping any of the kittens, don't let them stay in the same room as the puppy without supervision until they are about six months old. There are always going to be exceptions to this safety rule and there is only one, risky, way to find out.
You don't say what breed the puppy is, but some are better with cats than others. E.g. I have a shih tzu and three cats, and he knows his place in the feline hierarchy - it's at the bottom and he's fine with that. There are breeds such as guard dogs that may be a more difficult mix with a cat, so there is a chance you could always have some issues between them.

who was Che Guevara? i cant be bothered to read the whole of wikipedia or other sites so i came here for a simple answer. i know he was a cuban revolutionalist, but like, what did he do, and why do some people hate the guy?
He was a very intelligent man who became a communist revolutionary, helping the Castros to take over Cuba. He served in a variety of governmental posts before leaving Cuba and turning his attentions to South America. His intentions there were to start more communist revolutions. He was captured in Bolivia in 1967 by the Bolivian army and the CIA and then executed.
Since this time he has become an icon for socialist revolutionary movements all over the world. Due to his communist connections, his martyr-like status and the fact that he is used to symbolise rebellion and revolution, would ensure his unpopularity with a lot of people.
This is just a very brief description of him, there is a lot more.

what is tb, or tuburculosis?
It's a disease caused by a germ, usually affecting the lungs but other parts of the body can get it as well. It's a very serious condition and pre-vaccination and in Third World countries it has caused a lot of deaths. It's generally passed by close contact and it's mostly the young, weak and elderly are the most vulnerable.
I have included a web site that will give you more indepth information.

my friend Nicole did this thing where she took our names and then what color hair we had and what color eyes and then decided the first letter of the boy were going to marry.....
has anybody ever heard of anything like this??
what is it called?
wher can i find instructions on how to do this.
or somthing like it?
thank you so much for any help
I don't know about the hair and eye colour part but numerology is something the Greek mathematician Pythagoras came up with. It's the science of discovering someones personality type, career path and what lessons they are here to learn from analysing their birth date, names etc. If you're interested in this there is a very good book called The Life You Were Born To Live by Dan Millman. This walks you through the whole thing. However, I doubt there is any accurate way of deciding the initial of the boy you're going to marry.
These are two seperate questions that I would appreciate so much from if I get a responce that will help.
First questions....
My cat who is a Brown, Black, White, and Orange Longhaired Persian Tabby is 11 years old and is in Kidney Failure. Yes, he has been to the vet they have him all these injections and liquids and no help. He has a Kidney Stone but they can't operate because he may die on the table. We have the injections at home to give him but they aren't working. A normal cat has a Kidney Value at about 38 his are at 130! The surprising thing is he is acting like his normal self! He is playing with his string and climbing up his cat tree. The doctors say that he is defying science by actually being a live. He is a beautiful cat, ex-show cat, we bought him after the breeders didn't need him for shows anymore. What ass****s! Anyways the problem is he isn't eating anything. I have tried to force feed him but nothing works. I don't want him to die of starvation and he is already down to 11lbs., he use to be 15lbs! Does anyone have any tips to getting the food in him or any food products that have tons of calories that don't take much effort to eat?
Second question.....
My little dog who is about 10 months old has a Corneal Eye Ulcer. Everyone can disregard this question unless they have prior experience with their animal having this. So I just noticed it yesterday and the second I did I rushed to the vet! They did this color eye drop test and are 100% sure that it is an Ulcer. They gave me two types of eye drops to put into his eyes that will help the pain and the infection. My questions is.. (for those with pets who have had this) how long did it last? Did the animal have to get some sort of serjury? Did the animal loose vision completley, parcially, or not at all?
Please help with either one or both of the questions if you can. It will help so much.
1st question - Cats can act as though there is nothing wrong when they are really quite seriously ill. One of my cats had to be put to sleep recently after having an embolism, cancer and a heart attack! She didn't think there was anything wrong with her and was still trying to get around, but we had to consider her quality of life and the possibility of her suffering. It was a very tough decision and it was only made with her best interests at heart.
When the kidneys fail I'm afraid there is very little that can be done for them. If he really is not suffering, you could ask your vet about trying him on Hills Prescription Diet, they do a K/D and an A/D. This food is like a very smooth pate that can be mixed with water so that the animal can be syringe fed. The K/D is for kidney problems and the A/D is to bulk them up. You say you've tried force feeding, but it depends what you mean by that. If you've not tried a syringe, it may be worth a go. The vet can supply everything you need and show you the correct way to do this without causing harm to your cat. You need to avoid getting any of the food in the trachea or lungs.
I'm sorry to say though, that this is only delaying the inevitable. Cats have a very limited 'old age', so when they start to deteriorate, as yours is, they don't have long left, even though the age this starts can vary greatly. Enjoy the time you have remaining with him, take lots of pictures, play with him and share lots of cuddles. Then, as I had to, make the right decision for your cat. It sounds as though he was very lucky to find you, not many ex show animals are that fortunate. It will probably be hard, but when you are ready, remember there are a lot more animals out there who need people like you.
Im so confused.
Okay, In Pirate movie #2 Captain Jack Sparrow dies Righhhht?
Who comes back in the end?
Its the person from the 1st movie.
I dont get it, why does captian jack die?
Help pleasee!
At the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 the Kracken (the sea monster 'working' for Davy Jones) has been summoned and begins to destroy the Black Pearl. Elizabeth ties Jack to the ship because Davy Jones is after him to settle the debt he owes - this is why the Kracken is after them. Jack then faces his responsibility to sacrifice himself to the Kracken to save them. The Kracken essentially then eats him, so he's 'dead'.
The person that comes back at the end of the movie to try and bring Jack back is Captain Barbosa from the first movie. It's not until the 3rd movie that we find out how he has come back from the dead, but don't worry it is all explained then.

Hi!
Does skype have spyware or anything? Can you get viruses from it?
I guess what I am asking is: Is it safe to install Skype on your computer?
Oh, and please tell me how you like skype and give me a review if you can. :)
Thank you!
We've got skype so that we can talk to friends in other countries and here. So far it's working really well, and saves a fortune in phone bills. My hubby found it easy to install and we've had no problems so far.
I don't know about getting viruses from it but we do have various anti viral programs on the computer, so they may not be able to get through them. It's always worth having them anyway, as you never know when your computer is likely to attacked.
I'm a teenage girl- and for my whole life i've always been tired no matter what. I drink coffee every morning and I get all my nutrients b/c i eat right and take vitamins... I also work out whenever I can.
What's up with me?
Teenagers do need a lot of sleep, but having said that, if you're eating and sleeping properly, it may be worth getting yourself checked out by a doctor as you may be deficient in something. There are various possibilites for your tiredness and no one on here is going to be able to diagnose you without a medical degree. It may be nothing but never take chances with your health.
Don't say ballet is not a sport because in one way or another, it is. And so I'm pretty sure it goes under sports...but carrying on.
Anyways, I'm currently 14/f and finishing up 9th grade. I'll be turning 15 in July [I don't know if that helps squat to my question].
When I was 7 or 8, I took ballet for 3 months? And I ended up quitting because I got sick really easily and I wasn't exactly the patient little girl.
Now I want to take ballet again but I don't know if I should or shouldn't. Do you think it would be weird for a 14 year old girl that is almost 15 to start ballet from the very beginning? Should I even take ballet or not? If yes, will I be put in a class by age or experience/level? If by level, will I be in a class with little girls? What can I do ahead of time [way before any class starts] for ballet?
I took up ballet at the age of 11 and although I had to start with the younger ones, I very quickly progressed to the seniors. I was in several stage shows and had a great time. I eventually gave it up again when my asthma became a problem, but went back to it in my 30's, and still loved it. So, no I don't think it's weird at all and all ages can try it.
It is a great way to exercise and ballet dancers can be fitter and stronger than a lot of sports people. When you see them in professional productions and what they have to do, you can see why this is. Whether you start in the juniors or seniors is going to have to be the decision of the school you go to. They may have rules about this and they will also be able to judge your abilities compared to what your age group are doing.
Don't worry about your shape, it shouldn't stop you from taking part. I wouldn't recommend any sites for free ballet lessons, as you really do need to be supervised to ensure you are doing the exercises correctly. If you don't you could cause damage to your body. No one will expect you to be able to do the splits etc, that will come after a lot of practice, and again, they will show you how to do it so that you don't hurt yourself.
I would say go for it if that's what you really want to do. It's a beautiful thing to do and watch.
i have an addiction to gum. i buy about five packs a week and if i dont have gum i get really antsy. i know this sounds stupid but is chewing about 3-4 pieces of gum a day bad for you in any way if you dont swallow it?
Just an addition to the last answer.
Chewing gum on an empty stomach will make your body think it's about to receive food. This causes the stomach acids to multiply in readiness to begin the digestive process. If then no food arrives, the acids will start to work on your stomach lining. This, in time, can lead to stomach ulcers causing you all sorts of problems.
It would be better if you started to wean yourself off of the gum, and maybe look at the reasons as to why you have the addiction. Does it help you to deal with stress? If you can sort out the cause for the addiction you may find it easier to kick it.
dude my mom is so gay. she is trying to make me feel guilty for no reason. she always yells at me and i hate it! she drinks and smokes when i told her don't do it around me. she does it anyways. then she cusses me out all the time. when i didn't do anything. i hate it. i just wish she would die. i hate her. i want to move out forever! what can i do. my brother said i could move in with him when he gets a house. and my aunt said the same thing.! help what can i do?
It does sound as though your mum has severe problems. You don't say how old you are, but that is a lot to deal with at any age.
If you are able to, it may be better for both of you if you do move out for a while. Perhaps the shock of this would be enough to make her think about what is happening. I'm sure she doesn't want to lose you. There may be laws where you are governing who you are able to live with, maybe your brother or aunt could help on this?
If you do go and live with one of your relatives, perhaps you could have a family meeting with your mum and suggest she gets some counselling. People don't generally act that way unless there's something really wrong. If she agrees and it works, you could find that you are able to get close to her again.
Whatever you decide to do, please don't wish your mother to die? She might be making your life a living hell at the moment, but we only get one mum, and if this did happen, you would have to live the fact that you wished it on her for the rest of life. You're having a bad enough time at the moment, you don't need that as well.
I hope all goes well for you.
if your a vegetarian or vegan can you eat eggs? my personal opinion is that you shouldnt because it was once living (sorta). but is it REALLY considered living. i dont know. please help. im confused lol
There different degrees of vegetarianism, if you eat eggs you would be an ovo vegetarian, milk and eggs would ovo-lacto, fish would be pesco and so on.
Lots of vegetarians eat eggs as long as they are free range and have not been fertilised, so have had no chance of becoming chickens.
Vegans do not eat anything that comes from an animal.
Does anybody know anyone who has died and come back to life? The step-mom of a friend of mine died once, and woke up a little bit later. She says that she saw colorful lights and heard a voice that told her that it wasn't her time yet, but I was interested in hearing if anybody else has heard what others have experienced.
You mean NDE's? (Near Death Experiences). I don't know anyone who has had one, but I do know a couple of people who know people who have.
Mostly it seems to follow a pattern of being able to see things in the room that would not be visible from the bed and being able to quote conversations held when they were 'gone'. Other things that have been related have included a bright white light, a feeling of enormous peace and sometimes passed over relatives telling them it isn't yet their time. I don't know about the coloured lights though.
There is a lot of information on the internet about NDE's. It makes interesting reading.
My friend is having a 60's party but it's based more on hippies and not just any 60's style?

I can't remember any of the words, but what's the song where he stutters a word in every verse and then it leads into the chorus?
Movin out (Anthony's Song). :)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with Emetophobia?? Its a pretty gross phobia if u kno what it is.
It's a horrible thing to suffer from, I have it as well.
There are various therapies you could try, from hypnosis to NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to confrontational. It would have to be a 'try it and see what works for you', as everyone has a different response to therapies.
In the meantime, make sure you always wash your hands before eating, check use by dates, don't eat anywhere or anything you feel suspicious of. Ensure all food is cooked and stored correctly. Keep your distance from anyone who has any type of stomach bug and make sure you are as healthy as possible by eating properly and getting enough sleep.
I'm afraid there are no magic answers, it's something that has to be dealt with on a day by day basis. Very few people can actually understand how bad it is, just because it's something that no one likes to do.
In time, you will probably learn your own coping mechanisms, but I hope this will help for now. Good luck.
hey guys! this really isn't a question but i just wanted to wish everyone on the site a happy mother's day :] & happy mother's day to all the mommaas on this sitee :]
