does guilt have anything to do with why girls might not eat what they would like to? i'm a guy and don't get this idea of cutting calories like crazy. i'm curious to know if things have always been this way or if it is just a craze. it bothers me to hear some of my friends that are girls talk about ways to burn calories and other stuff. i don't have a problem with that at all, but lately its all i hear my friends and even my family talk about. what is the big deal and what do i say to my friends if they bring it up with me?

Girls have a lot of pressure on them to be thin. It's what is considered attractive- singers, models, actresses. A lot of girls feel that if they are not very thin, then they are ugly. I have felt the pressure myself, but I'm anything but what you're describing lol. I can see why girls worry about it so much. In their minds, they think that ultra thin is the only way to be attractive. If they bring it up to you, tell them that they look good like they are and they shouldn't worry about it. It may not change their minds totally, but it will be nice for them to hear and make them feel a little better about themselves.

I am on a diet.

I eat fruit or sugar free jello when I really want something sweet.

Strawberrys, Kiwi, and Peaches are all really sweet.

I also like to munch on grapes.

Sugar free jello is a good thing too, if you like jello. You can't tell the difference between it and regular jello, and it's a lot better for you.

ughh i got braces today. they dont hurt because i dont have wires in yett, but they are soo annyoying! from others exceprience, how long till they feel normal? and what are some good foods to eat?

and any suggestions on how to make it look like your mouth isnt bleeding metal when you smile., if you know what i mean.

Everyone is different, it could take you anywhere from a few days to a little over a week to get used to them.

Good foods to eat when they hurt- Spagetti, pasta, ice cream, jello, anything else soft that you don't have to chew a lot.

Please, never eat cheetos when you don't want a bunch of stuff in your braces. It gets orange all over your brackets and if you can't brush your teeth, it's pretty hard to get off.

You will get used to your smile soon. Don't worry about it, a lot of people have braces, and it doesn't look as bad as you think.

So I'm getting a hair curler, but I don't know what size to get. 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 2 inch? So could you send me links to pictures of curly hair, and tell me what size was used to get them?? Thanks

Go for a 3/4 or 1 inch. Any smaller and the curls will be too tight, any bigger and they will be too loose.

This isn't just my opinion, its the advice most hair stylists give to clients. I've seen it in magazines, and heard it from hair stylists.

ok so theres this guy in my class who likes me. well call him *jack* ok so i have a BIG feeling that jack likes me. i HATE him, he annoys me and i know it sounds mean but hes kinda a dork. like im more popular then him not like im the mot popular but i hang out with girls like a level below popular girls and im cool with all the popular peeps. so anyways, this guy likes me and i always have the WORST luck in class. i got assigned as a partner for a project in history which SUCKS because he like annoys me and he pulled out my chair for me a few times in class and i always see him looking at me and if we leave a classroom after using a comp. he likes waits for me, and it annoys the crap outta me, and my math teacher put me at the same table as me in math. i hate it because i just want him to not like me. is there any way i can let him know im not interested without talking to him? the project is over on like monday or something but i just hate him so much and id never go out with him. so how do i let him no???

He sounds like a nice kid, and to be honest, the first part of this question sounds kind of shallow. Who cares if he's "below you"? But, I do understand about not liking him. I'm going through the same thing you are. Talk about how much you like another guy, to show him that you aren't interested in him. Don't be flirty at all. He should get the hint.

You're supposed to have arm hair. We all have it. Dont' worry about it, you are your own worst critic. No one is going to look at your arm and think how hairy it is, because arm hair is normal. I say don't shave it. It's a lot of maintenance. If you never start, you don't have to keep up with it.

I love painting and drawing but the problem is im not to creative, like i cant just get a peice of paper and start to draw something and make it up i have to be looking at something. So could anyone give me some ideas or hints as to what to draw or paint, cause im at a loss.

i feel like im getting sick, probably just a cold or something. my throat is sore and my nose is a little runny and thats usually what happens first when i get a cold. its not allergies because i take allergy medicine daily. is there anything i can do to avoid this before it comes full on? or do i have to wait it out?

Start taking zinc vitamins.

Drink orange juice or take vitamin C.

Gargle with warm salt water as much as possible. (gross, but it works)

Blow your nose a lot, and if you cough up any phlegm, spit it out. It gets the sickness out.

Get some zicam swabs and use those. They are medicated and you swab your nose with them. They work really really well.

Wash your hands a lot.

Get 8 hours MINIMUM of sleep a night. If you can get more, do so.

This is what my grandma always has me do, and she's a nurse. So if you do these things, you will either avoid it, or your symptoms will be a lot less and shorter. Good luck.

i have this one friend **jack** i went to school with him in 6th grade then i moved away then came back for 8th grade at the same school. i saw him at times even after i moved when i was in 7th grade... so i knida knew him for 3 years. but in school we alwayyys are hanging out and he the most hilarous kid ever. i think i might like him i have mixed feelings i never had a bf but like boys asked me out b4 and i kissed a boy b4. so i dont know if i like him because i want a bf but i really dont think thats it. the main problem is he acts immature like not in a bad way in a funny way so that is a problem. also my friends who also are all close to him would talk about me and say too much stuff about me if i went out with him and i dont even think he has feelings anywhere close to a crush on me. i dont think he ever will. and the thing is i know you might say it doesnt matter what your friends think but my class has 18 kids and i am only friends with like 5 of them the rest are complete jerks. what should i do?

I think you should go for it. Invite him to hang out outside of school. Even if it's in a group of friends at first. That way, you will be more sure if you like him or not, and you can see if he maybe likes you! About the immaturity thing, all guys in JR high are immature. Trust me. And I know what you mean about the small class size, that's how my jr high was. But don't let those friends run your life. If you want a boyfriend, don't let them stop you! Seriously! Just get a small group of people together to go to the movies or hang out one weekend. Invite him along. Then, while everyone is hanging out, flirt with him and see how he reacts. That should tell you a lot about how he feels =)

Hey everyone.

Well our choir instructor wants us to do a bunch of fundraising. The thing is the stuff that he picks is very boring and typical that we don't want to do it and he gets mad about it.

Like bottle and can drives and selling cookie dough and such.

Does anyone have some good and FUN fundraising we can do?

At my school they do:

Rubber wristbands customized with school colors and mascot. (Go Vikings! in school colors)

Kids carry around bags of candy and sell them. Like, they have a plastic bag full of reeses and twix, and kids always want to buy them because they get hungry in class. This goes over really well here.

School Sweatshirts

They also get a local restaraunt to sponser them (like pizza hut) and on a certain night, all sales will benefit the organization. Make sure to advertise what night it is though. This is great because people don't really have to do anything except go out to eat.
