Once you become a moderator, you have to keep your rating above 3.8 to stay one.

I was testing it out, and if people liked it, I was going to deploy it across the entire site. But a lot of people didn't like it and said it was too distracting, so I abandoned the idea.

Q: Currently there are approximately 4 columnistd with a rating lower then 4. One columnist even has a rating lower then 3. Isn't it necessary to maintain your rating as above 4 in order to be a moderator? If it's not I think it should be becuase it isn't fair for the people that are trying to raise their ratings to be mods. Just a thought...

There is, it's just not as obvious. You click on the "Q: " at the start of the question.

Q: if you haven't noticed already, there are a growing number of columnists who are rude and extremely arrogant. it is beginning to cause tension in the advicenators community, and my suggestion to solve this is if it would be so kind, to shut down the advice columns of these culprits when you encounter them. i don't know how long this has been tolerated for, but it needs to stop. thanks

1) Please read the help pages about filing abuse reports when you come across columns like this. I can't just "make the site better", I need specific examples.
2) If it bothers you, go to your profile settings page and set your threshold to 3 or so so you don't see these lower-rated columnists.

Q: Are there new restrctstions on music and stuff like that? Because I have checked to make sure I don't have the tags but suddenly my music won't play and the cursor won't show up. Nope, no restrictions. And for the record, the music thing was never a 'restriction' per se, it's just that we disabled tags that a lot of people needed for music to play. You can try whatever you want to do it but most of the popular methods posed security threats, so they don't work anymore.

Q: We really need a filter that keeps people from answering questions saying "I don't know, that sucks"
IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE, DON'T POST AN ANSWER.
Also, people who say "Hope I helped!" Okay, that's not really a problem, just a pet peeve.
I know, I know, not a question, but it really bothers me when people post answers that don't have solutions.

There's a solution for that! Post an intelligent question to the site, and if anybody gives you that "I don't know!" answer, rate them low. It's perfectly allowed... even encouraged!

Q: ---I asked this on the main page and someone suggested that I should contact you, so I am :)
Ok...so you know how you get a little alert after you've asked a question and someone has answered it (that little number by 'your questions')? I keep getting that, and half the time no new answers are on my question. What's up with that?
I also saw my question on the question pages and it says I have nine answers, but when I click on it and count the answers it, I only have 4. D'ya know what's going on?

There are two things that could do that: first, someone could be deleting their answer to your question. Second, you could have your threshold set to screen out some columnists. Does that help?

Q: I was thinking maybe you should add a forum page to the website. People can kinda talk in it by leaving little statements. They have them on lots of other websites, and people like them a lot. I know i sure do! It was just a suggestion.

It's a nice idea, but forums pull tons of bandwidth. The moderators have a forum, and the paid users have one too, but for just everyone I want to keep it as an advice site. Go use the chat room, it's fun!

I feel like the FAQ is pretty clear about what we delete. If someone needs advice about musical pursuits, we'll encourage them to ask a question in the music category. If someone just wants to ask what everyone's favorite Britney Spears album is, they can do that at misterpoll.com. Our site is for advice.

After moderator level, they're sorted by join date, so moderators who've been around longer are near the top. We did this so when we want to promote a level I moderator to level II, we can see who's been with us for the long haul.

Q: I have been slipping up with my grades. My parents said that I have to get them up and I can't go on the computer for the next 4 days. Will I be "demoted" from being a level 1 mod.? And will that also lessen my chance to ever become a level 2 mod.?

The FAQ covers demoting related to time. As for being a level II.. no, being gone or being demodded doesn't effect you. We really don't have a way to keep track of that for the long term.

When I ask questions about this (that obviously I need advice on) some of the columnist responde back but it is deffiantly not an answer that deals with the question. Like they don't actually give me advice, they just say something really random or, they'll put something mean and call me stupid for asking a question like that at it really doesn't help me out with my problem...I just wanted to bring this problem to you "top dogs" and see if there was anything ya'll could do about it. We don't suspend people for giving bad advice, or even stupid advice. We fully encourage you to give them the lowest rating possible though.

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.
Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.
2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.
3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.
If you disobey one of these rules, I'll delete your question.
Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)
If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
