*I want to be a Youtuber*

Question Posted Thursday April 10 2014, 4:02 am

I'm of shy nature, but I love making videos. I personally think I've got good ideas to entertain people with bad movie reviews, sketches, top 10, etc. The only thing is... I'm scared that people end up mocking me and/or dislike me.

I know you cannot be loved by everyone, but I'm scared I get more hate than appreciation. I really want to do this though, should I take a risk or being a liked youtuber is excessively hard?

Well, you have to ask yourself what is the worst thing that will happen to you if people mock you and don't like you. Some people don't give it a second thought but some people might commit suicide.(If you are in the later category then I don't advise you to try it just yet!) Everyone is afraid to put themselves out there for public ridicule but no one would be famous right now if they hadn't decided to risk it!You said the most important thing already...you love it. I think it will turn out just fine, but if you do get haters and it bothers you then just remove the video and try a different one! Best of luck to you!

You think drake or brad pit or Jennifer Lawrence give a sh*t what people say about them? Did that stop them from doing what they wanted? Not everybodies going to like you, but who cares. Don't ever let that hold you back.

Being a youtuber isn't about getting liked by people. No matter how much it may seem that way. The only reason you see people trying to get as many likes and subs is because eventually the youtube staff will notice and then soon enough they are basically working for youtube to make money. If you want to be a youtuber then I say go for it. If it doesn't work out, you can always reinvent your stuff. Don't worry about the haters. Without them we cant find out how good we can be. Do what you enjoy and try what you have always wanted to try. I hope this helps.

As a creative minded person myself, I commend your creativity and imagination. And the truth is, many of the most worthwhile things in our lives involve taking some kind of risk.

You clearly have a passion for this and I think you should go for it.

So you're worried about getting a lot of negative feedback huh. Well, the first thing you have to realize is that only you have the power to let that feedback affect you in any way. Other people may say it of write it but you can decide how you will respond.

Many of the best artists and film makers out there started off will lots of script rejections, bad reviews and negative feedback. If they didn't react the way they did in moving past it, imagine how many good films and works of art would never have been made at all.

All in all, what does it hurt to try? There's really nothing to lose.

Good luck.

People who dislike your videos will probably forget about you. (Though maybe not before leaving a negative comment.) You're unlikely to enrage someone so much that they'll follow you around on YouTube making nasty comments, especially if you follow a policy of not feeding trolls. Don't worry too much about this.

If you look at the old videos of many popular YouTubers, you'll see that their first videos are often awkward, low-quality, and scarcely-viewed. But they persisted, and for every thousand people who hated their videos or ignored them, maybe one person became a subscriber. Over the years, as they refined their video-making techniques, and as word spread, their popularity grew. However, becoming big on YouTube is pretty rare. You need to consistently create content for several years to get anywhere, it seems. Having hundreds of high-quality videos out there for people to stumble upon is key.

To start with, I recommend doing videos about somewhat niche things that haven't already been covered much by popular YouTubers. A video like, "Top 10 videos of 2013," is never going to be seen because people will see the thousands of more popular videos first. But a video like, "Review of Some Obscure Movie," will be seen by people searching for that movie. Try to use keywords that are searchable, but not dominated by more popular videos.

Good luck!

I am on You tube alot and see the whole gamut in quality or entertainment or creativity. Some stuff I find poor and a waste of my time to watch and others tho homemade and unprofessional, poor lighting, sound, etc...have good content and I will watch. Peoples reactions are going to vary cus people are different, different tastes in what they like and you'll find differing levels of maturity.
With immaturity comes the critical, dissing, flaming comments. I have seen notes posted by the creator of a you tube video that any comments of an attack nature will be removed. Some people won't attack you but the comments posted by other viewers.

So tho I've never posted a video, I believe you have some control over it, like removing comments or perhaps barring them to begin with.

As for how many liked are clicked...I don't think you can really count on that as a gauge if people like it. I have watched many video's I liked and never posted a like or dislike. Sometimes I do try and have had trouble getting my account to allow me to post a like/comment when I really want to, so over time I got used to not doing it.

Do something that you enjoy and are passionate about and it will bless the people that matter. As for being shy, you never have to meet any of these people face to face so it shouldnt be an issue.

Now if you have a low self esteem, this would be a perfectly safe way for you to learn to work on yours. Good luck

Don't be afraid to be beyond your limits. Yes, no one is loved by everyone. But you should not be afraid if you'll get more hates than likes. Post the video first and you'll see. I can sense that you are creative and thoughful so your videos would probably get likes.

Being a youtuber takes alot of efforts. And I know you can do it. Don't be afraid. There's nothing wrong in trying. Jist be positive and think that you can do it.

Who knows, you'll inspire people because of your creativity. I'ld be glad to see your video if you want to.

I hope this would help. Feel free to ask me.

Goodluck and wish you the best.
