I was an incoming freshman last year, and it was a new school, i knew nobody, and it was fine..
Honestly... you, like I did, are getting all hyped up about nothing bad.
Last year I thought freshman year was gonna be horrible, but it was good, and I think it's going to be the best year, besides being a senior
Oh! and a tip.... Just don't act all high and mighty in front of seniors... they think it's really annoying
helpndapeople answered Sunday July 22 2007, 8:52 pm: yall in coming freshman need to stop worrying and just go to school and be you. you will meet people and be just fine. Im going to be a junior this year so i should know about being a freshman. Movies just give you the wrong idea about HS. People just tell you those stories to scare you. Just go to school and don't act immature and be calm. hope this helps you some. [ helpndapeople's advice column | Ask helpndapeople A Question ]
Darkhelp66466 answered Thursday July 12 2007, 11:21 pm: they really don't make fun of you. occasionally someone will call you freshmeat but rarely and unless you wear a shirt that says freshman no one can really tell anyway. people talk about freshman friday but no one really does it. high school really isnt as scary as its made out to be. its really just like middle school only with different teachers, different rules, more classes and some more kids. its not bad at all. advicer answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 4:28 pm: It's not that bad at all. I was a freshman last year, and I went to a new school where I hardly knew anyone. I played volleyball, and that started a week before school, so I was able to know a few people before school actually started. So, I suggest joining a sport, or even a club. It's pretty easy to make friends.
I personally thought freshman year was pretty easy. The seniors never picked on freshmen either. They just basically ignored us, some were nice. But, that could vary from different schools.
As far as getting lost, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You can ask the teacher from your previous class how to get there. Or, you can ask other students. You can pretty much tell who will tell you the truth and who will just try to get you lost. There might even be signs around telling you where to go. I never got lost because there were signs.
Just don't go in there acting conceited, or carrying LOADS of books around, and don't be incredibly annoying. Just go about your own business, and no one should make fun of you or any of that. Good luck and have fun! :) [ advicer's advice column | Ask advicer A Question ]
Floridagirl1821 answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 3:59 pm: Dont worry, Upperclassmen will leave you alone. (Unless you mess with them or something. But still.) Dont be nervous, everyone else will be nervous too. Its very similar to middle school, except larger and the hallways are mixed with different grades. (Ex. there are different grades in each building) In some of your classes (foreign languages, electives, math if you are advanced) you will have other grades. But they'll be nice and ask you about it and tell you about teachers.
Megx3 answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 2:31 pm: To the people who say "don't mess with the seniors", that's crap. It's more of a myth that the seniors play jokes and are horrible to the freshmen. In reality they really would rather have nothing to do with them. Don't worry about a thing.. like it was previously stated --> the teachers know you are new to High School so they aren't going to drop a bunch of work on you right away (or even at all), and the older kids probably won't even notice you. (Unless of course they're hitting on an incoming hottie ;) )
neveragainx answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 12:03 pm: It was actually really fun. I made alot of new friends and stuff so it was ok. If seniors, or older kids bug you just tell a techer and theyll make them stop :) [ neveragainx's advice column | Ask neveragainx A Question ]
Hollister answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 5:51 am: You have absolutely nothing to worry about. I was all anxious and nervous and all that crap, but seriously, after a while it feels the same as middle school. Its probably the easiest year because theres not as much stress as the other 3. No one picked on me or anything stupid like that. Just don't come on the first day thinking your hot and being a know it all, because of course people will say something and it probably wont be very nice. But dont worry, you'll be fine. im an imcoming sophomore and there is nothing more for me to say. it was the best expieience in my life! the teachers cut you slack but they also have to make sure that you arent a baby anymore so it will be tough but easy. you knwo what i mean?
you are only in high school once so live it up
this year was the best and im just waiting for sophomore , junior and senior year.
make sure you get into like good clubs and sports because its fun and makes your experience as a young adult worth while!
just make sure that
sophomore and senior year you do really well in your classes because those are the 2 years colleges look at your transcripts

Teenagerr answered Wednesday July 11 2007, 1:34 am: I'm gonna be a Being a freshman isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The worst part of the whole year was being in a new school because my school has three buildings so i didn't know how to get anywhere. Freshman year is good in some ways too. The teachers are nicer to you about being late for class or missing homework because they understand that it's a new environment for you and you get to make tons of new friends :]
I didn't find it too terrible once I got past the "getting lost" thing. And the seniors and everyone didn't bother me at alll.
