Emo.

Question Posted Tuesday July 25 2006, 2:01 am

People make fun of me and my friends and call us "emo" just because we wear black.
They say stuff like hey emo go run home to your mommy! Its so annoying! What do I do?

just try to wear brighter colors. be a little bit happy! i mean if you like dressing that way i'm not telling you to stop because you like it. but it would probably help if you wore brighter clothes!
i really hope i helped!and i sorry that this is happening!

wait until one of them wears black pants or a black shirt or something. then, wait for them to say something about you being "emo." then be like

"um have you looked at yourself lately? your turning into one of us! it might take you a while, but after you lose a few pounds you might actually look good in black like we do!"

or some twist off of that. its giving them what their giving you. its not saying "oh my god im not emo!" OR "im emo. get over it." because both of those give them more of a chance to taunt you. then the turning into one of us is kind of like your making fun of us because you want to be us. its not saying that their jealous, its more like "haha you make fun of me because you want to look as good in black as i do."

it'll stop them in their tracks. trust me. it worked for me and my friends. =)

BMXPoet answered Tuesday July 25 2006, 4:01 am:
just ignore em. honestly, i had the same problem not too long ago. im a christian by the way. and yeah, i go to a private christian school, and it started getting bad when i had the school actually threatening to kick me out unless i stopped wearing all black, and the schools priest actually told me that i was going to hell unless i came back to god (even though im a devout christian, its just that i wear all black all the time). what eventually happened was that i told all the kids making fun of me to back off or something bad would happen, i told the school that it was my choice which color uniform i would like to wear, and that they have no say in it as long as i wear the uniform (yes we have a unirorm), and the priest thing i kind of just let go...i would definitely NOT advise doing this...for one, even though i have all my friends by my side, the kids that are scared of me now make life a living hell (imagine being prodded into a fight every other day), and the school has basically become biased against me with the exception of a few trusting teachers...the priest still hasnt let up...so what i DO advise, is just be confident that what you do is YOU, as long as you are confident in yourself, things will eventually quiet down.

Lola answered Tuesday July 25 2006, 2:27 am:
Hey,
First of all, i would like to clarify a point for you. Now, everyone is free to do whatever he wants in this life, no body can judge you on your actions except maybe your family or god. But other than that, no body has a word on you. And just like how you sometimes wear black and people make fun of you for that, they probably do something else that makes you feel like you want to make fun of them. But i am not telling you to fight back. i am just telling you that these people who make fun of you and your friends are lame people which do not have anything in their lives to do but sit on the benches at the sides, and point out anything embarrasing or say anything mean that would send them rolling on the floor from laughter.
So do you really want to waste your time fighting with such people or would you rather just leave them in their lame lives, where the joke would one day be on them and people would make fun and enjoy a good laugh.
There are always the good people, like your friends for example, who stick beside you and wear black too and are always there with you and for you.
Then there are the people who see you, and are cool with, and they keep there negative opinions to themselves.
Then there are the mean people and the bullies who come and tease you and make fun of you and just want to start a fight for no reason.
More an more, i just want to tell you that there are about a thousands of lesbians, and bisexuals and gothikas ...etc, these people don't get any kind of respect and they are hated so much and people don't want to be friends with them or even seen with them, and yet they are self confident about themselves, and they don't allow anyone to get in the way. And then in your situation, can't you be self confident about wearing black? i don't get it.
Look, when a person wants to do something and he is happy with it, then i am sorry, but screw the rest. You want to wear black, and you also have your friends by your side, and you are satisfied with what you are doing, and you don't find it strange or different to be wearing black, then screw the rest, because as long as you are happy then don't let anyone let you down. Live your life and be free and do whatever you want, and stand up for yourself and don't let anyone get in your way. Your cool and you have a unique character, then hold on to it.

same thing happened to me when i got red highlights. just ignore them. when they see they're not getting a reaction, it slows down a WHOLE lot. just act like you don't care. pay them no mind. they're the ones who are just looking for attention. if you're not emo, and you of all people know it, then there's nothing wrong. just pretend they are complimenting you. pretend emo is a good thing. every time they say it, smile inside.

it worked for me. they stopped, so i hope i helped you.

<3-robyn

to what sharpie love said- that could possibly be the worst thing to do- having comebacks and swearing them out. that's exactly the kind of reaction they want from you. when you give that to them, they just feed off of it.1

oh my god. i know soo many people who have gone thru that, i have too. just because i wear black clothes sometimes its like, omg what losers. i hate that! its like theres no way out no matter what you do. **personally** i get pretty defensive and start swearing them out, haha umm thats not very good advice **so dont do that** i can handle this stuff way good im pretty tough. but hey, its a hard thing to deal with i really dont know what to tell you..umm you just gotta try and maintain as many friends as you can, for example ONE of my friends is totally popular, i know its weird but it made lots of the popular people forget the emo goth thing, it really helped, just try to be friends with everyone and be realy nice so you wont have lots of enemies and more people to back you up, sorry i hope i helped

[aright aright im editing my answer..umm i read what sbgrl427 said...here is my response....: ok yea ino thats a bad approach ok i changed it to"personally thats what i do" cuz im over that thing and i can handle myself better at this stuff, so they were scared of me for a while lol, but anyway like i said one of my friends is in with that crowd and now its not a problem...umm sory for the "bad" advice ha whatever i changed it cya]
