13/f .. This is my 8th grade year of cheerleading , but we don't have to try out to be on the team or anything , but I would like to make LaSalle Cheerleading, and you have to be required to do some flips and toe touches. I would like to know how to get a toe touch down , like a good one .. I got one year ... And would I look incrediably stupid if I decided to start gymnastics? I'm not flexiable at all && I can't even do a kartwheel. Thankss =)
lianaliana1 answered Wednesday August 16 2006, 9:07 pm: I think you should start taking gymnastics because that really increases your chance of being on a cheerleading team. I'm not into cheerleading but since i've done gymnastics, can do back flips, handsprings etc, i've been asked several times to join the team. but it's not for me.
Gymnastics helps flexibility, skill, and strength.

ok, for the toe touch :
-stretch EVERYDAY. sit in a straddle and go to your right. then your left then to the middle. each day push yourself further.
-do crunches/situps. these will make your ab muscles stronger [and you'll get a nice looking stomach ;) ] You need strong ab muscles to jump higher.
-use correct form in your jumps, for help on that : [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
for the tumbling :
Find an allstar gym that has tumbling classes, and join. If you can't find any tumbling classes, your local gymnastics gym should have a tumbling class.

My friend joined gymnastics to work on her tumbling, and she was in a class with a bunch of kids when she first started. Now she's really good. It does take a while, but if you work really hard and listen to the instructor, you can get it within a year. I would ask this same question to spoiledandtoxic, cuz she knows where you're coming from and can tell you what to do. Hope I helped.
