id get an ipod, because a lot of ppl have them, and so they can help you with them, and theyre just better in general. that is my opinion though

I have a Sony Network Walkman mp3. I'm not sure of how many songs that it can hold. It has a really, really long battery life. I personally think that an Ipod is a waste of money. Just because you can see how long the track is and a calculator and bunches of other useless things. I love my walkman. It was only $100. I'd rather have a mp3 than an Ipod.

For simplicity and less money - an Mp3 player.
For more features and (usually) greater capacity, an iPod.
There are many kinds of Mp3 players that are not iPods but come close, like I guess the Dell DJ. Similar in the sence that you can view songs and has almost the same set up. iPods are in their own class, and personally I think are better if you can afford it. It depends on what you will use it for and how much you will use it.
If you plan to use it for a multiple number of things and use it very often, then go for the iPod.

Ipods and MP3 players are almost the exact same thing. You can do the same stuff on them. The only big difference is that Ipods are more popular. And someone told me Ipods are better quality. I have an Ipod and I love it! Whatever you buy is going to be fine.

it depends what you need from your mp3 player. If you only have a couple hundred songs, than obviously an mp3 would be your best and cheapest bet.
If you have videos, and lots of music, well then maybe an iPod is best for you. Or if you have lots of music, but also want to be able to listen to the radio or record audio than you should go with an mp3 (I believe Zen mp3 players have this function).
Another big factor is how hard you would be on your actual mp3 player. I have an iPod video, and it scratches very easily, and cases are fairly expensive. You might want to invest in something a little sturdier if you're going to toss it into your backpack, take it camping whatever.

They are both cool, but you will probably find other mp3 players cheaper. and money is what matters to most of us.

well ipod are better becuase tey have much more stuff to doo, like videos picture and stuff. Mp3;s are good because they are cheaper and are if you only want musci. So it depends on what your looking for.

i think Mp3 players are better because some of them can do exactly what an ipod can do if not more. plus, theyre a little cheaper because theyre not extrememly populart like ipods. for example i was goin to get a nano with 1000 songs and i found something cheaper that holds 3000 songs. but it really depends on whos buying it. Mp3's are kinda bad only because the battery but other than that i think theyre a lot better then ipods.

Ipods are much easier to work with (add music to, etc) and have better customer service. Mp3 players aren't much cheaper anyway. Get the Ipod video if you want something to entertain you on car rides, plane trips, whatever. Nanos are better for running or exercise/dance and carrying around with you everywhere. Also make sure to get applecare (it's like insurance for if it breaks) and check with your regular insurance because they do get stolen or lost a lot.

I think that Ipods are better because you can hold a lot more stuff on them like videos, mini games, alot of songs and its small. Where is a Mp3 player can only hold so much and its big.

in my opinion, i think ipods are. they're a bit more expensive, but they're easier to add/delete music, battery lasts longer, holds more songs, etc.

umm honestly i think ipods better because it can hold up moree songs then an mp3 and also it can hold pictured(dependind wut ipod your talking about)
