Well I'm going swimming tomorrow. Today I had my period for the first time and I tried a tampon. It was really hard to get out. I tried pulling it out in different directions and I tried like half a box of tampons and I'm pretty sure it's in correctly. The string almost broke when i tried to pull it out it hurts. My parents wont let me get in the water without a tampon and i cant sneak in without one because they check to make sure im not lying. Oh and ive tried the lowest absorbensy and lubricant stuff still doesnt help. Please help!

barreldreamer101 answered Saturday June 17 2006, 12:23 am: Well if you have never had sex, which i am assuming you havent then you are just tight down there. You are just gonna have to suffer threw the pain and make sure you are changing it about every 4-6 hours. Also try the kind that dosent expand when you put it in or try the teenage kind if you know what I am talking about. When you wear your bathing suit and are swimming if it is in front of alot of people you might want to make sure that the string dosent show. But once you get in the water yuou will be having fun and it will take your mind off of it. In a cuple of times of being on your period then you will loosen up if you use a tampon every time. Also you may already know this but, I am going to tell you science you have never had another period in your life they will be very ir regular for abput the firstyear or two so there is nothing wrong with that type of thing occuring. They may also not last very long either. So hope this helps. Good luck in the future. [ barreldreamer101's advice column | Ask barreldreamer101 A Question ]

xoxunforgetablexox answered Thursday June 15 2006, 11:40 pm: like everyone else has said, it has to do with the amount of blood on the tampon. You need to keep it in there a while for it to not hurt when you pull it out. Dont try going into the pool without it in while your on your period, because a pad isn't gonna work, and you obviously need something there to catch the blood. The tampon use gets easier as you go along, but just be sure to take it out after 6 hours. [ xoxunforgetablexox's advice column | Ask xoxunforgetablexox A Question ]
lyDia_LoU answered Thursday June 15 2006, 11:39 pm: This might sound gross, but you have to wait to pull the tampon out bc it has to be "wet" so that it will slide out easier. Put one in, wait a few hours-depending on flow-and it wil come out soOOo much easier. Pulling a dry one out hurts like a bitch! Your parents are right, don't go in a pool without one because that is just a Seventeen most embarrasing moment article waiting to happen! Good luck! wiccachick22 answered Thursday June 15 2006, 10:32 pm: make sure you are using the right size because you could be using one that is to big, beccause if you had your period for the first time you should use juniors. [ wiccachick22's advice column | Ask wiccachick22 A Question ]
mmmmmmm answered Thursday June 15 2006, 3:52 pm: usually when you put a tampon in and only leave it in for a little while, it is hard to get out because it didn't absorb any blood yet. try leaving it in for more like 3 or 4 hours.. it won't hurt and you can go swimming!
S_C answered Thursday June 15 2006, 3:11 pm: Is it only hard to get out? That could be because you're practicing with it so it's not staying it as long as it normally would. Normally it's absorbing blood while inside of you wich makes it less dry and much more lubricated. That is what helps it slide out. The lubrication from the blood it absorbs. If it isn't absorbing any blood then it's completely dry and rubs up against you when you're pulling it out which causes the discomfort. But remember, never use a tampon more than 6-8 hours (I go for closer to 6) because of Toxic Shock Syndrome. It's rare, but serious.
girlygirl answered Thursday June 15 2006, 12:47 pm: Read the directions carefully and try the junior/slim size tampons. The first couple times can be uncomfortable, but you will get better at it. As a side note - if you are old enough to be using tampons, then your parents have NO business whatsoever checking up on you on an issue like that. That is just totallly weird. xxsima answered Thursday June 15 2006, 12:12 pm: Okay, well, I think you're using the wrong tampons. If you use the regular ones, don't. Have you tried the 'junior' and 'slender' tampons? They're designed for first time users like you. You should try those out. Maybe you can put some lubricant on the tampon when you slide it inside because maybe you're pushing too hard.
L0VEx3 answered Thursday June 15 2006, 11:25 am: Hey there,
If the tampon hurts when youu try and pull it out, it probably doesn't have as much blood as it could have absorbed, so it doesn't need to come out. Hope I helped!

lauren1011 answered Thursday June 15 2006, 10:48 am: its not comming out easily b/c theres nothing on it. when theres stuff on it it slides out easier. and it kinda takes a few periods to get used to the fact uve got something 'DOWN THERE" but just followthe instrucions and wait a few minutes after u put it in to see if it feels ok [ lauren1011's advice column | Ask lauren1011 A Question ]
BriZeeme2 answered Thursday June 15 2006, 3:35 am: well this is funny because the first time i used tampons i used the whole entire box and i tired to sneak in the pool to but i always got caught but geuss what now i dont use pads because i like tampons beter you just have to get used to them that it and about the pool just try to avoid the pool while having your period adn deffently the beach too lol
amygwendoline answered Thursday June 15 2006, 2:25 am: That's exactly what happens with tampons. I don't know if you read the paper that came inside of the box of tampons, but it says that you have to keep it in for a long time. When it absorbs blood, it'll lubricate itself, and it'll be easy to pull out. If you put it in your vagina and pull it out instantly straight afterwards, or for only like 2 hours or less it's not absorbing enough blood, and it'll scrape against your vaginal walls. :]
Try keeping it in there for a long amount of time, like from the beginning of the party to the end, never exceed 6-8 hours because of TSS. But, it should be easy to pull out, just from all of the blood absorbed. :]
wingsofabumblebee answered Thursday June 15 2006, 2:24 am: ok
first off if you are going swimming you must use a tampon trust me on this one
it hurts if you try and pull it out and its still dry it will take sum getting used to
ummm when i have issues like that i get these wipes kinda like baby wipes it helps to applicate the tampon
the big problem with most chicks when they first use a tampon is getting in if its not in right
it wont come out rightmake sure while its in all you can see is the string
o and one last thing make sure you dont bleed through or ur tampon string isnt hanging out of ur swimsuit
srry if the advice is wierd
goodluck! [ wingsofabumblebee's advice column | Ask wingsofabumblebee A Question ]
tikibikini answered Thursday June 15 2006, 12:15 am: alright, you are better off wearing the tampon because uhh you dont wanna turn where ever your swimming in red, uh cuz that would be gross. lol well did you try to read the directions? there is directions in every box that helps the first timers. try putting your leg up on the sink and pulling it out. when you relax dont tense up because it collapes your vaginal walls! now about your parents check your cooch, thats a little wierd you should let your mom do that one and if you still feel uncomfortable just check every once in a while. you can keep a tampon in for up to 8 hours but its kinda gross if you keep it in ther ethat long soo change it every 2 hours or so. if you fell wierd then just go check it, just what ever you do, DONT go swimming with out one because ehh that owuld be sick! HardxcorePunkLover answered Thursday June 15 2006, 12:11 am: You have two choices here:
1. Go to the party and wear a tampon. This is gonna be a summer full of tons of swim parties, & you can't let your period get in the way of that.
2. Skip out on the party & wear a pad. You can stay at home & find some other plans that don't involve water!
I hope everything works out & you have a good time doing something. Good luck & please rate.

yourfoolxx3 answered Thursday June 15 2006, 12:11 am: When I first started using tampons, i had a problem taking it out as well. My mom taught me a little trick. RELAX. If you tense up, your vaginal muscules will tighten as well, making it very difficult to pull out. Take deep breaths and don't think about it. Also, you have to let it get blood on it, if you're trying to take out a tampon that you just put it, it's dry cotton, which not only is hard to get out, but hurts. I really hope this helps!
