orphans answered Saturday June 24 2006, 2:51 am: That happened to my cat and my mom said it was probably a hairball. If you pick like the long pieces of grass and lay the grass near it, then watch and see if your cat eats it. If he/she eats it then it knows it needs it. (My mom told me all of this.) Let it eat however much it needs. Then later, it should throw up a hairball. That's what happened to my cat. Hope I helped! [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

Nallie answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 11:06 pm: If you don't have money to go to the vet, buy the hairball relief medicine at the petstore and give it to your cat. If this doesn't work, you have no choice but to take the cat to the vet and ask to make payments or something. I know of a cat that did the same thing and she had a tumor on the upper part of the stomach. Don't give the cat alka-seltzer (it could be very dangerous to do so because the alkaseltzer contains medicine like aspirin). [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]
isis answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 6:18 pm: They could have tonsillitis. Cats have 6 tonsils and it is an infectious and painful condition for them. Another cause could be polyps in the ear canal which can dangle into the pharynx and cause gagging. Other things could be a post nasal drip, hairballs, allergies or pharyngitis to name just a few.
As they are both doing this now it is more of a possiblity that it is something one of them has caught and passed to the other.
Are they still eating? Are they still passing motions, and if so do they look normal? Do they feel as though they have a high temperature? Are they listless or acting as they usually do?
I understand that you have no money for the vet but it does sound like the sort of thing that needs to be checked out by a vet. Any abnormal behaviours can be quite serious and they can't tell you how they feel.
Can you perhaps work off the money if a parent or other adult pays for the vet? Could you perhaps offer to work off the debt to the vet? You don't say how old you are. Or perhaps there is a charitable animal hospital you could take them to.
I hope that helps, and you are able to get this sorted out for them. Best of luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
Cj answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 3:40 pm: I think it would be a hair ball. Give it some alka-seltzer and see what happens. Or maybe if you give it some acid to drink it will dissolve the hair.
Or maybe he wants to puke, cause something is wrong with his stomach like a bacteria. If he is making regular bms It ay not be this.
Or maybe its the new hip thing amongst cats, You know, like the style. Or maybe its some new funky dance.
alright, or maybe it is missing some teeth, so it can't chew its food properly, thus its stomach can't deal.
hollywood_xo answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 3:30 pm: allergies! my cat has them [ well, they both HAVE had them, but only one really has problems .. ] he just goes to the vet like, every 6 months or whenever he's coughing a lot and gets a shot. i know you said you don't have money, but at my vet it seriously only costs like, 32.50 or something for the visit/shot/everything. it sounds exactly like what goes on with my cats, so i'd be willing to bet that that's what's wrong. DefinedEyes answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 3:19 pm: Maybe your cat has a hairball.. sometimes you cant see those, or maybe your cat is sick, and your other cat caught it. Well, I'm pretty sure you cant be certain without going to the vet, and thats what you should do for your pet, I know you cant afford it, but I wouldnt wait too long to get help. Maybe someone else could take it to the vet? If you're that worried, I'd do someothing. [ DefinedEyes's advice column | Ask DefinedEyes A Question ]
OHilovetravis answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 2:10 pm: Could be old age! I have a yorkie an sometimes when he gets too excited he tends to like start making like wierd sounds like something wrong with his breathing but its nothing more than old age from what my vet told me. But if not look on google.com for stuff, or even if you have to call a local vet an ask them if they have ever heard of anything like that happening, I mean you don't techniqually have to take your cat in all you could do is call an tell them what is happeneing an im sure they will have some kind of reasonable answer asked to why your cat is reacting like this!!
