Question Posted Monday June 5 2006, 8:48 pm

My friend is 13 and ran half a mile in 5 mins and 13 seconds. Is that slow, regular, or fast?

A little bit slower than average for his or her age, but more in the middle.

Pretty slow :]
I like running at a good pace. My main objective is to not stop running, like a cross country. If speed was my goal, I would suck at running.
Good luck to you and your friend :]

its probably about average. i was on the cross country team for 3 years, and pacing myself it took me about 8 or 9 minutes to complete a mile. so that doubled what your friend did would be about 10 minutes . not bad if shes not on any kind of runnig team.

i would say thats average-slowish.. it depends though.. if she runs alot then that would be slow.. but if she doesnt run a lot then that would be pretty normal or slowish

For a 13 year old, it's not too bad. Thats on pace for about an 11 minute mile b/c you slow down as you go further. Obviously, as your friend(or is it you?) gets older, they're gunna get stronger in the legs and everywhere else. Plus you didn't say if you were a boy or girl.

Honestly that is pretty average... but a little on the slow side. My school average is around 7:30... maybe that's like a goal for her.

*Hope I helped*
