im a catholic, so i better know this answer haha

in the catholic religion, there is something called abstinence.

Abstinence means abtaining from sexual activity until you are married.

It isn't a sin to have sex when you are married, only before you are married, or if you arent married.

Like someone else here said, God doesnt want you giving your body freely to other people. Sex is a sign of love, and should only happen when you truly love someone.

So i hope i helped. ♥daNIEllE

Sex before/outside of marriage is a sin because God made your body for you and your husband/wife only. Outside of being married the reason it is a sin is because God does not want you giving your body freely, he wants you to appreciate and love yourself enough to not just openly let yourself be had/used. And even if Jewish it is still a sin. Sins are yet forgiven, so if you have already and our worried, you can easily be forgiven if you want to.

Because religion is something made up by people. People wanted power over other people, so they started telling them "Do this or you're a sinner!" Believe whatever you want, but if you crack open a decent history book, you'll find that this is fact. Personally, I don't go by what any religion says. I'll figure out the difference between right and wrong on my own, thank you very much, and I really think that more people need to start thinking this way, because religion causes wars. That's also a historical fact, by the way.

Judaism is a religion based on living life in the here and now, and enjoying the pleasures of it. Christianity is a religion based on the afterlife, and being good in this life so that there will be a divine reward after death. In Catholocism especially compared to other forms of Christianity, sometimes in order to get the divine reward in the afterlife, some of the pleasures of this life must be sacrificed. Also, in Catholocism, sex is not a sin if you're married.

LadyGoodman answered Thursday May 4 2006, 7:44 pm:
I'm pretty sure it's a sin if you're Jewish OR Catholic. Here's the thing. Catholicism is a very guilt based religion. Many organized religions are based off of depriving oneself of pleasure. The religions basically guilt trip people if they indulge in pleasure too much. I think it's BS.. sure, people cross the line with sex and then I suppose if you believe in all that sin stuff it would go into "sin" territory, but the act of sex itself with good intentions and the privilege not abused is not a sin at all. It brings enjoyment to our lives and helps us to express love, and most of all enables us to procreate! I think people who worship a God who would be stupid enough to create sex and then tell us that all of it is a sin are wasting their lives on something that's not worth it...because that would be one hypocritical god.

Solemnstar answered Thursday May 4 2006, 7:32 pm:
the definite answer? i asked my pastor and she kinda avoided the question.

i think its because early in the churchs day the illiuminati were holding them back, so they spread lies that the illiuminati had orgys and sacrificed children and all the things we associate with modern satanism. to keep others from following it, they tried to make all thingsto do with sexuality bad. because paganism, the predominate religion, was all about exploring that... then again almost all modern christian holidays were adapted from pagan ones..

Yule-Xmas
easter- the month of april was a celebration of the goddess.

so there you have it....what was my point again...

it's not a sin.
the catholic church says a lot of bullshit you shouldnt believe (not saying you should). i cant remember if the bible says it is or not...but even if it does, remember, GUYS wrote it. all guys, and it was only a one sided view (just like everything in history) and its not holy. it didnt drop out of the sky from the heavens. guys wrote it depedning on what was going on that time period, and what they wanted other people to believe.

God obviously wants us to have sex, maybe not to the extent that some people do, and not the same pervertedness that it can be sometimes looked upon, but to be a benefit of marriage, and to create life.

HectorJr answered Thursday May 4 2006, 7:07 pm:
Here's what I've been taught from a very useful book:

" Why does the Church make such a big deal out of sex belonging only in marriage? To answer that question, we need to look at how God made the act of sexual intercourse different for humans than for any other species. Simply stated, God made sex for three purposes:

Sex creates new life
Sex expresses loving union
Sex brings us joy and pleasure

It is important to keep all three purposes in mind, because they cannot be separated from one another; they are integrated - parts of the whole picture. If only one or two of these is present, God's plan is derailed...

...Dating is a temporary arrangement - a testing ground for relationships. Even being engaged is not quite permanent. Thus neither a dating relationship nor being engaged provides the commitment necessary for sexual intercourse. But Christian marriage does. It is the only relationship that ensures that all three aspects of sex are integrated, woven into the minds, bodies, and spiritualities of the couple."

So to sum that up into english, thats basically stating that sex is a gift from God - which serves three purposes which can only be carried out after marriage. So I hope that helped, and if you want a better/more in depth answer on that or any other questions about rules/regulations for being Catholic, then feel free to send me on in my inbox.

Alpha345 answered Thursday May 4 2006, 7:06 pm:
Sex was set up by God.

It is peoples perversions that make alot of it sinful. God ordained marriage between a man and a woman and included sex as one of the benefits. Sex itself is NOT sinful, it is peoples sin and perversions that make it that way.

And where did you get it is not a sin of your jewish? Christians and Jews have the same God, the only difference is Christians believe in the promise of the messiah, promised by God, was fulfilled in Christ Jesus. Jews do not believe the messiah has come yet.

I'm interested to know where you got that info.

I hope I helped, and I answered your question.
