phishing?

Question Posted Monday April 24 2006, 5:18 pm

ok i keep getting these emails from Chase saying my chase bank account has been violated...the only problem is I dont have a chase bank account. Im not even old enough to have a bank account! IM 13! I suspect phishing becuase I got like 6 emails from them at the same time once saying someone tried to acsess my account, and then the first one I got from them saying my account has been violated, they spelled "been" wrong. I have yahoo, and i flagged all the emails I got. What else can I do? I have gotten a phishing email before, from someone claiming to be from eBay. ♥♥&heart;s

Ignore them, they're just trying to get you to respond and give away real information. Is there a way for you to block certian emails? Oh and tell you're internet provider.

Yes, this is phishing.

You should report this to whoever provides your e-mail (AOL, Earthlink, Charter...) and they'll take the appropriate action.

Oh, and just so that you know, I've had a bank account since birth and I also have a credit card. I'm not much older than you are now.

I also suggest changing your e-mail address and using the BlueSecurity thing that DN put at the top of every page on Advicenators.

very good work not falling into their traps. the easiest way to fix your phishing problems is to get invited to gmail. if you don't have a friend that uses it, you can send me a question with your email address in it and I'll get to sending you an invite. gmail has an excellent blocker for phishing and other spam. I highly recommend it.

I receive the same emails..........

Just ignore them and delete them, they are nothing more than scammers.

Good luck, and don't believe a word they say.

Okay, I have the same problem. Their scammers trying to take your money. Do not answer them, just report phishing and delete them.

I am getting them every day now. Go to Chase.com and review some of the emails these scammers have been sending out. Some may not be on there but whatever you get from Chase is a scam because Chase would NEVER ask for your information online.

So just remember, all of those eBay emails and Chase, etc, is scams.

I've been getting the same ones... all I'm doing is reporting them and ignoring them... eventually whoever is sending them out will be caught.

spelling mistakes are a big clue that someone is a scammer. Obviously you know what to look for, so don't reply, and keep reporting them as junk.

You know that blue little frog at the top of the site? Download him. Dangernerd recommended blue security on the site news a little while ago, and he works. What he does is he reports spam, and has your email address blocked from the spammers lists.

LM answered Monday April 24 2006, 5:31 pm:
I wouldn't worry about it. (I get credit card offers in the mail a lot and I have been since I was 11) Someone probably just got your email from somewhere (or, if your email has common words and not too many numbers, a spammer may have just piked it at random) & hasn't yet gotten the idea that maybe you're not a moron and won't fall for a fake email from a bank you dont have an account with asking for your personal information. =P just a theory though..

Also try blocking the sender, that should keep more from being sent to you.

Above all, don't worry about it at all, people get these all the time =]
