Look, regardless of what your religion is, you should listen to your gut first. If you think of/do one of those things and it seems wrong to you, NOT because society or religion tells you to believe that, but because YOU feel as if it would be going against your core self, don't do them. I personally think that anything done OVERMUCH (drinking, sex, smoking pot, etc.) can be physically or mentally harmful. That being said, there are tons of people out there that lead fulfilling lives and do one or more of the things on the list, and tons of people that lead fulfilling lives that don't.
Common sense dictates that some of the things on the list shouldn't be done by a 16-year-old anyway. I think 16's a little young to start drinking or smoking, etc. You can get involved in some pretty dangerous stuff.
Religious people I've talked to pretty much agree that the quickest way to "sin" would be harming others. None of the items on your list come into that category directly, although I'm sure your mom and dad would be upset if they caught you drinking or smoking pot or having sex. Harming yourself apparently takes a second place. You're at least slightly damaging your body if you drink and smoke, and it's probably not mentally healthy to have tons of oral sex at 16. So you might want to take those things into account too.
My personal opinion? None of these things are "sins." But you should listen to yourself before me.

I dont believe any of those are sins but thats my personal opinion. If you believe in God, & accept him as your Lord & Savior, then your going to heaven, period. Or so I've heard. They may be classified as sins, but they will not effect you from going to heaven or not. If anyone says that, its just to make you not want to do it.

@ Masturbating is not a sin. For anyone. People think it is because of that story about Onan, but he was condemmned because he wouldn't share his seed with his brother, not because he spilled it on the ground.

When asking for advice consider the source, sins are basically things that are bad so with that in mind...
!smoking pot is bad for your health, could make you ill and does unknown bad things to your body. promotes lack of ambition and is very addicative. Seriously dont you have something better to do than hurt your health and smoke your life away?

@masturbating is bad, doing that means you have no self control. seems many people like being weak sure hope your not one of them. Oh heck ill be blunt its just a nasty habit dont start it. be careful of sex and that stuff it will cause you to sin quicker than you can say LOOKOUT HELL HERE I COME!

#you dont need to be drinking alcohol since your 16 its bad because believe it or not you are not mature enough to handle drinking responsibly!

$giving/receiving oral sex--Fire of hell may it incinerate your evil ways!ok serious obviously i feel morally obligated to stand 100 percent against this subject. In my opinion it is the purest form of evil i cant tell you why though its my soul telling me. And for crying out loud have some self respect and stay of your knees! its like this hmm scuse me could you give me oral sex i know i piss out of it but i just changed boxers so its clean i swear... HELLO what is wrong with people humans piss through that portal 1 WORD DISGUSTING! dont do it for the love of all that is good dont do it.

%looking or watching explicit material-- this is bad because it leads to not nice thoughts, guys look at it and become rapists. some anyway, dirty dirty dirty. your husband wont look very special after you look at some other guys body now will he?

We need more Christian people to raise kids nowadays. Good luck and do the right thing!

This is just my personal opinion, but, it doesn't really matter if the Bible lists them as a sin or not. For different Christians, the definition of sin is different. Some say that masturbation is a sin, and some say it isn't. Some say that drinking alcohol is a sin, but what about all the monks and nuns who drink? What about Jesus? He drank! (Actually, I think it's ABUSING alcohol that's the sin, not drinking it)

And anything is bad if you think it's bad. I look at "explicit materials" quite a bit, and I see nothing wrong with it. It's something to do when I'm bored. But if I was looking at them and thinking that it was wrong, I would feel like I was doing something bad. Same thing for masturbation. I do it because I'm an animal, and I have sexual needs, but I have enough self respect not to give myself up to somebody that I don't love. As for oral sex, if it is consenual and protection is used then it's all right.

Smoking pot is very illegal and can do great physical harm to you. In the US, drinking under 21 is also illegal and if abused can be harmful. Really those are the only things on the list that can get you into any trouble.

About pot, I used to be addicted and I quit because it's not good for me. I'm sure Jesus drank wine. He's performing miracles on fish and wine, drinking with his buddies at The Last Supper, he's a reasonable drinker. As long as you aren't mean to people when you drink, then you doing just fine.

There's nothing wrong with masturbating, giving/receiving oral sex, or looking or watching "explicit materials." Sex and sex-related actions are completely personal and are mostly always wonderful experiences. You shouldn't be judged and condemned by others for what you do with your body. God would never be displeased with someone about such personal matters.

Your're a good kid, and don't let other people try bring you down. God is a great person, and he should be your main source of advice. Ask him anything, and he'll communicate.

Be honest, be caring, and be charitable. Religion is your own personal journey through life. As long as you stay true to and are aware of yourself and others, your're going to heaven.

Sincerely,
James

TheOldOne answered Wednesday February 15 2006, 9:29 pm:
My understanding is that most Christian churches would define all or most of those as sins. Some denominations permit masturbation and oral sex within marriage. And since the drinking age is determined by statute, I don't think that 21 is the standard that churches necessarily apply; I'm sure that age is not listed in the Bible.

Since you seem to be concerned about this, I really recommend that your talk to your pastor, minister, rabbi, or spiritual counsellor. They should be able to tell you the standards of your particular faith.

all are sins. smoking pot is just plain bad. masturbation is self defilation, lust, and many other related sins.drinking alchohol EVER in the Bible is a sin because it chases away the Holy Spirit. any sex out of marraige is a sin, but if your married i gues its okay, but discarge is an unclean thing in the Bible along with many other things, so its like touching an unclean thing, and you have to wash everything in your house and take a shower pray and you will be clean again at night, Expicit material watching is a sin, because its also lust and mental rape.

I pretty much wanted to say that I know for sure that oral sex is a sin no matter what the circumstances are. It falls under "sodomy" which is a sex act that isn't sexual intercourse. Smoking pot and drinking under 21, I doubt it. I don't think you're going to hell for going to a kegger or enjoying a joint with your friends. Masturbating is a sin always. It is a selfish act done only to pleasure yourself, and you must think of another in lust. The same goes for explicit materials, lustful act.

DefinedEyes answered Wednesday February 15 2006, 8:24 pm:
Well, it doesnt need to be considered a 'sin' to be wrong.. most wrong things I suppose, can be considered as sins though.

Smoking Pot, and drinking and sex before marriage, or looking or watching inapropriate things, if your religious it a sin, if your not, its just wrong. It doesnt need to say in the bible if its wrong, or if its a sin.

Because we were all born with pre knowlage of right and wrong, or atleast a hint of what we think is right and wrong.

if you have morals, then you can decide what you think about some of these things.

I can give you my opinion for what its worth.

A couple of things are illegal and I don't endorse them at all. However, I don't think any of them are sins.

Keep in mind that I am not into organized religion and all churches have differing opinions. Since there are so many differing opinions, I personally form my own. :)
