Question Posted Wednesday February 8 2006, 5:02 pm
I read that if you eat breakfast everyday you will lose weight, is this true? If so, then how can I start eating breakfast without gaining weight because I have not been eating breakfast for a few years? This is so confusing! Please explain and help. Thank you so much.

Of course it does not guarentee weight loss, its just one component that will help in the process. What you eat, how much you eat and your activity level are totally key.
The thing is that, in general, its not good to skip meals. Your metabolism will work faster and better if you eat many small meals every day. It tells the body there is plenty of food, while skipping meals pushes the body towards trying to store as much energy as possible. Of course, breakfast is particularly important because you havent eaten anything for many hours. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]

jammy12 answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 7:00 pm: That iss sooo NOT tru! I actually miss breakfast sometimes but I make up for it during lunch which i know is bad. I get stomach aches and headaches but if you miss lunch or dinner and drink some milk or juice I guess it's better than breakfast. I try to eat at least a fruit and a light sandwich or salad with a cup of milk or juice! I haven't really been losing the weight I wanted to..buh I guess it's all good! CherryChick453 answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 6:35 pm: hey well heres the thing. eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day cuz it gives you energy. it also helps you fill up faster so you wont be munching around during the day. anything for breakfast is good but not sugary stuff or junk food [ CherryChick453's advice column | Ask CherryChick453 A Question ]
ncblondie answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 6:02 pm: The reasoning behind eating breakfast to lose weight is that your metabolism doesn't really rev up until you've eaten. By eating breakfast, you're getting your metabolism going earlier in the day, which means your body will burn more fat. I'm not a big fan of breakfast myself so I generally stick to something small. Try eating some healthy cereal, fresh fruit, an egg, or even a slice of whole grain toast. All of these are fairly light meals, but still enough to get your metabolism going. greeneyedgirl9o answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 6:01 pm: hey ok the thing is that eating breakfast doesnt necessarily make you loose weight but it helps because it jump starts your metabolism, allowing you to loose weight. Make your breakfast healthy and nutritious, try toast with organic penut butter on it (organic has no trans fats) good luck [ greeneyedgirl9o's advice column | Ask greeneyedgirl9o A Question ]
Sapphire_Lily answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 6:01 pm: not sure I know completely but I will try. Eating breakfast in the morning gives you energy, fills you up and usually breakfast is composed of healthy things like fresh orange juice. Ergo if you are filled in the morning with healthy breakfast, you will not have to snack on food later and therefore you don't put on as much weight. Losing weight after all is about eating a healthy diet, not starving yourself.
think thats how it works lol. you should probably consult a website that could tell you for certain though.
