Our "destiny"?

Question Posted Wednesday January 18 2006, 11:55 am

Do you believe that "God" has already planned out our destiny, or do you believe we make our own destiny?

And do you believe everything happens for a reason, or do you feel that's just some clever line a thinker thought up to try to reduce the amount of stress and anger in our lives?

you determine your own desinty, things happen becuase you make them happen. Not because some supreme being is navigating your life. if all of our destinies were predetermined life would be pointless. the whole course of earth would be predecided. thats whats i believe.

i dont think you should base your desicion of god on other peoples understanding. reading the bible will give you even more knowledge. but for my opinion... i think that god has planned us a good life. i think if we choose to follow him he will have a good christian life for us. and just cuz bad things happen doesnt mean hes not really there. its just that he could be testing us. and also there is alot of sin in this world. no one understands gods plan but god. but i think in the end everyone ends up where they are suppose to be! like in heaven and stuff! well hope that made since!

You do plan your own destany, I believe.

However, no matter what you do, it will call come to pass the way God wants it. I think, at least.

I don't believe in a god. Any decision we make is our own. Every person charts his own path in life; there is no predestined course for anyone.

I say everything happens for a reason, but it's just a saying as far as I'm concerned.

I don't believe in God. I believe we live and die just like how rats and ants and bacteria and plants live and die!

I believe that God has made our destiny and everything picked out, but I think we live out our life. If our destiny changes, God's destiny changes. I think we get to control most of our destiny, but God also guides us when we need help.

Deep questions.... I believe we create our destiny. I believe there's a higher purpose behind everthing that happens on our earth. There are no accidents, only life lessons. I believe, tho some events are really ugly, that there is a Divive plan behind it all and and each of us has a role to play in this 'game of life'... for we're each a soul that descended into the dense reality of earth to garner vibrational points upon the ladder of eternity by 'getting our lessons' on earth, the kingdom of free will and choice. It's hard here on earth, but the soul gains more here toward raising it's vibration up the ladder. I don't think I've explained this very well... but it's how I understand it works and I came to understand all this when I almost died and became kind of a conduit for higher vibrational truth. I hope this helps just a little.... but if you follow your heart.... or your soul in human form.... you're on your absolute highest path and shall fulfill your soul's mission to earth and your soul will gain eternally for that accomplishment.

I believe we have our own dstiny.

I believe time does not exist, or it exeists but it is not real. Now there are only events. We can create events so activity remains in the ubiverse. It is up to how we wnat to do these events. we can do whatever we want. we are free of destiny.

But the events must be written in logical sequence. So we have a kind of destiny in that sense. (example if I jump off a building, i will be destined to hit the ground and destined to injury) SO yes, things must happen for a reason.

But other than consequences to our actions and the actions of others , we are totally free.

THe future is not written in stone.

And the other piece, I believe in God. He can helps us to good events to plan good consequences for ourselves.

I, being a Christian, tend to believe that God has already planned out our destiny. I think that we can make whatever choices we want to, but that God already knows what choices we will make and makes plans accordingly. That's what I believe. Hope I helped! HM911

I think that we make our own destiny. I'm sure God doesn't plan out people murdering people. People make their own decisions. I think that everything happens for a reason. If you have a breakup or something, then you find someone better and you realize you are happy that you did breakup with your partner.

tasuki answered Wednesday January 18 2006, 5:34 pm:
No.

See, your question kind of limits me since I don't believe either one of those. In fact, I don't really believe in anything. I've been known to think up several different ways that we could have been placed on this Earth for many different reasons and then a thousand more things that could happen after we die. A lot of them contradict each other, but that's okay. They could all be possible.

I think that we should all just believe what we feel most comfortable with, and whatever anyone else believes their business. I think if everybody did this there would be no fighting about religion. Unfortunately, I don't see everybody in the world suddenly becoming enlightened any time soon.

Now, the second question. I don't think it necessarily means that everything that happens was meant to happen exactly that way. I think it just means that no matter what happens, (because usually these things are out of your control, say your workplace burns down for example) there is always some way out of it and it's up to you to pick the best way. Like, you might have three choices: become an alchoholic, kill yourself, or live in poverty.

Destiny is sort of a mix between the two--things happen that you can't control; it's up to you to decide what to do next.

MrsPhelps answered Wednesday January 18 2006, 4:56 pm:
To some extent, I believe in the fact that God already knows what he wants us to accomplish in life. I'm sure there are certain thoughts he sends to us, maybe ideas, to help us along our journey. But we still have free will - we either choose to recognize that God is talking to us, or we make the mistake of ignoring it all our lives. Don't be scared that you won't recognize it is God; if there is a purpose you are here (and there is, because everyone has a purpose) then God will never stop trying to show you what it is. He won't let it go.

Also, I do like to think that everything happens for a reason. Now I'm not saying that there's a whole world of thought behind what you were going to have for lunch, but I am saying that I'm pretty sure there are things that God wants us to experience. Everytime I'm in a bad situation I ask myself, "What does God what me to get out of this?" He never stops trying to teach us and help us along in life.

Before the world was made, God panned out each and every one of our lives. He knows the future, the past, and the present. EVERYTHING! We are just people living in God's world. That saying does tie into this, because God plans everything for a reason. Hope this helps you!

ncblondie answered Wednesday January 18 2006, 2:27 pm:
I believe that God has a plan for us. However, I also believe that God gives us the freedom to make choices in our lives for ourselves, whether they follow His plan or not. I look at God like a parent sometimes. He's given me the knowledge and tools for my life, but standing back to see how I use what He has given me.

I believe that things do happen for a reason. Experiences help to shape our lives. For instance, a friend of mine died last week. As a result, I'm more conscious of the fact that life really isn't that long. I decided to cherish the time I have with my loved ones and make healthier decisions in my life. Other experiences may be what leads to something better in your life. I'm sure you've heard the expression "When a door closes, another opens." The night I met my husband, I actually had a date with another guy. I was stood up. I ended up going out with my husband instead. I fully believe that God had a role in that. Experiences in our lives also make us stronger. Going through rough periods shows us strengths we didn't realize we had.

i actually think in terms of both as true, i mean, we have to make choices every moment of our lives, but even if we dont always know the outcome, i think the consequenses of each choice is predetermined. i think there is a plan for everyone, but i believe it varies. look back on your life, and the things it took to get you where you are, where would you be if youd made different choices? what might have gone differently? so as to destiny, i do think we make our own, up to the extent of what we are in control of, which is of course ourselves. as to everything happening for a reason, definately true, outside forces that change how we feel and the way things around us work, and what other people choose that effects us are things we dont have a choice in, and i believe these things happen for a reason, even the hard and painful things, some will make you stronger, others will make you weaker. it seems to me that in life if you can make all the choices you want to get to different points, and there will be things that happen that you cant help, when these things happen, sometimes they knock you down, but as long as you survive, you come out stronger, and i think strength and experience to handle the next fall is the reason for everything. just my take on it. srry for length, very thoughtful question.
