I'm a tiny little person (13/f) and my mom wants me to exercise. Aside from burning off fat and staying at a healthy weight, why is it important to exercise?
TheySayImNothing answered Friday January 20 2006, 4:03 pm: It's also important to exercise because it will give you more energy to do things during the day. Also because you'll be able to do more things when needed. But it's mostly cuz of staying healthy and having energy. [ TheySayImNothing's advice column | Ask TheySayImNothing A Question ]
cynicalladvice answered Thursday January 19 2006, 7:41 pm: because if you don't, then when you HAVE to do something physical, you're less prepared to and will run out of breath/energy faster, also, even if you're a healthy weight, not exercising can increase your risk of heart disease. extton answered Wednesday January 18 2006, 3:46 pm: There are lots of little reasons as to why, but basically, it's simply important as a matter of keeping in good health.
At your age, it's not hugely important...but if you keep yourself healthy and fit from now through your twenties, you'll have an easier time staying healthy and fit for the rest of your life thereafter. [ extton's advice column | Ask extton A Question ]
KiSSxMYxPEARLS answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 9:39 pm: It's just to keep you fit. Even if your not fat, you can still become diabetic(not saying that you will!!). Just because of sugars that you eat. Just exercise a little bit to help your body image & just to stay healthy.

MikeCFT answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 8:02 pm: Other than appearance, it helps soooo many systems and actions in your body. Especially at your stage in puberty, it will send your endocrine, cardiovascular, central nervous and respiratory system into high gear and you will be able to build great resistances to sickness. Heres some benefits:
-Better sleep patterns from more melatonin being secreted
-Better mood from the increased amount of endorphins from the brain (happy hormones)
-Less secretion of the stress hormone Cortisol
-Greater resistance to sickness
-Improved stamina
-Overall better looking body
-A sense of pride knowing that you arent going to be one of the "regular" people who just sit on their ass and eat donuts and McDonalds watching TV, but that you will always be striving to improve the already great things you have done for your health
