skinny?

hi im just wondering, i seriously think im kindof on the pudgy side, but my friends always tell me not (but i mean theyre friends, come on!)
but im 5'8 and i weigh 110 or so and i just constantly wish i were skinnier. am i?

Your BMI is about 17, which is underwieght. I am 5'0'' and weigh about 100 pounds, so you aren't overweight. If you are constantly obsessing over your weight, you may have an eating disorder, which you should get checked out.

you're actually underweight. your bmi is 16.7, the minimum for "healthy weight" is 18.5.

BMI calculators are just number-crunchers. As such they aren't perfect - they don't take into account your age, your build or how much muscle you have. They will however give you a general idea of whether you are over or underweight.

I plugged in your data to the calculator on am-i-fat.com, and it said your BMI was 17. The ideal range for a woman is 20-24. This means you are underweight.

As I've said already, the calculator isn't the be all and end all. You may not actually be emaciated as it says you are. Your attitude is however concerning. You are absolutely by no means overweight - the calculator suggests the opposite, that you are veering towards being dangerously underweight. That you feel the desire to loose weight despite being quite possibly underweight is concerning.

I would suggest visiting a dietician. I don't want to scare you, but it seems like you have some issues with your weight, and it is best to confront these head on as early as possible before they snowball. Seeing a dietician will allow you to talk with a professional who'll be able to tell you what a sensible weight is for *you* considering your age, height, build, etc., and will also be able to talk to you about what is sensible and healthy eating. in 7th grade, i was 5'2 (or around) and i was like 110 lbs. and i was extremely skinny and small. so you are verry thin.

Sweetie, you're way skinny. Don't think you're fat, because you aren't. When your friends say you're skinny, they mean it. You're a good size. The ideal weight for a women of your height is usually 120+. So, you're skinny. ♥

u are kinda skinny i mean im 5'8 and im about 115 and i think im skinny. but maybe if you tone up abit youll look less pudgy. a healthy normal weight for 5'8 is about 120 or around there.

If you think that you are overweight at that weight and height, I think you have issues that go far beyond a little pudge (or in this case, lack thereof.) Please seek mental help.

Its tough to say without seeing a picture. Do you exercise? Muscle weighs a whole lot more than fat. Do you tend to carry a little too much body fat? Are you a guy or a girl? Personal opinion is big here too, what one may think is fat the other doesn't. DON'T let the scale be the judge, let the mirror be the judge. I know for myself Iam only 5'9" but iam around 250 lbs, now if you were to check this on a BMI counter, it looks like I would be morbidly obese...but my body carries more muscle mass than it does fat, so thats where the weight comes from. Scales trick you, but a mirror doesn't lie.

From what you just described...you're doing just fine. Don't do any extreme dieting because you simply don't need it...in fact try and aim to add around 500 more calories to your daily total and back yourself up with a multivitamin/mineral. Preferably time released.

You definitely aren't fat. You are actually on the skinny side. The ideal weight for a woman 5'8'' is 124-168.The ideal weight for a man 5'8'' is 124-164.
