Question Posted Tuesday January 3 2006, 7:48 pm

My parents never let me, nor take me to get my hair cut. I want bangs so bad, so im thinking about cutting them myself. I have the proper scissors for it, I just need like on strand. But i dont know how to do it and i dont want to screw my hair up. Any tips on how to do it nicely?

Well first of all do it while they are wet. I dont know its just how your suppose to do it. And cut them a little farther down from where you want them to becuz once they dry they will be the length you want them. Just go for it! I mean its hair it'll grow back sooner or later!
Tell me how it goes..

Get a friend to do it for you, or save up money and get them professionally done but have a friends parent drive you to like the mall to get them done or something.

Here's How:
1. Always start with dry hair. You never want to cut your bangs while wet because they'll shrink when dry and look too short. If you usually blow-dry your bangs, apply styling gel then dry. If you usually wash & wear, then let them air dry.

2. Using a comb, precisely section off the hair you don't want to cut. You can put the other hair in a ponytail or pin it up with bobby pins. But only your bangs should be left loose.

3. Divide your bangs in half using a styling comb. (Styling combs have baby-fine teeth). Take one half and comb bangs down with the comb teeth facing out. Rest the comb on your browbone. Don't cut your bangs any shorter than where the comb hits your face.

4. Start 'point-cutting' or snipping the hair at a 45-degree angle. Work slowly, doing a bit at a time. Never cuts bangs straight across since it's impossible to keep a perfectly straight line.

5. Repeat 'point-cutting' on the other half

Hope I Helped!!! =) Anymore questions just drop them in my inbox!!

NO NO NO.
DO NOT cut it yourself. 99% chance it will look bad. (no offense) its just your not seeing it straight on so it will be way harder. Either go get it done yourself at the mall or something, or have a friend do it. A friend that has done it before. Good luck hun!

If you want your bangs to look nice then dont do it yourself..cause if you mess up then your screwed and your parents probley still wont take you. If your parents wont take you then I would say when you go to the mall with one of your friends of family friends then go get it cut on your own. You shouldnt need your parents permission to cut your own hair. But definitly DONT do it by yourself.

1. Wash it.
2. Comb it.
3. Using your comb dived the hair horizontally about one inch from your forhead, then comb that section of hair neatly in front of your face.
4. Take the scissors and envently cut the hair the length you want the bangs to be.
5. Dry it and Viola!

P.S.- I don't think you should do it without your parent's permision though.

Listen to your parents but if you think it is ok then you just need to cut them a little at a time b/c you can always cut more but you can't add hair so be careful. Don't cut a ways back just a little in the front and if you part your hair to the side do it at a slant and on one side only the side that the hair is brushed over to. If you want your bangs in front across your forhead then don't cut them too short. Rate me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

make sure you cut them longer than you think you want them. you don't want them to be too short!! if there's a great clips by you, a bang trim is $5 and they do a good job. if you do them yourself..be careful! <3

betterthanyou_X3 answered Tuesday January 3 2006, 7:57 pm:
I would let a friend do it for you. They can probably tell if it's straight or not better than you can. Bangs are really hard to cut because if they don't come out straight the first time you keep on cutting and they'll eventually become too short.

Something else also, is to get your parents to let you cut your hair. If it's really long which I assume it is, cut a part off near the front where your bangs would be. Say that a friend at school "accidentally" cut it when she wasn't paying attention. It should work because I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you walking around with uneven hair and you won't get in trouble for cutting your own bangs.

okay i have experience from cutting my hair my self and getting it done. if you want a sweep in your bangs then use scissors and cut it then clean up the edges with a razer and scrape your hair so it isnt so choppy. but a big tip-- dont go by what it looks like in front of your face, it will turn out too short. have a friend do it or use a mirror. but make sure you know EXACTLY what you want them to look like before you start chopping your hair off! but just remember you can always cut of more if its too long!

-Not to tell you what to do or anything-
but..i really dont think you should cut your hair by yourself..if you are unexperienced with cutting hair, then you will probablly screw it up..maybe you could save some money up & go get your hair cut with a friend
