I just had sex for my first time 2 nights ago. I'd like to get checked by the doctor for any diseases. Is it possible for me to ask a doctor and get a test done without my parents knowing anything? Including the results. Even if the results came out positive, I want it to be kept secret. Do you know if doctors tell parents this kind of information?
bagdad answered Sunday January 1 2006, 2:36 pm: depends where you live, in sweden there are special youth clinics where you can do this, but if you were wearing a condom you should be pretty much ok, and besides, if you're not showing any symptoms, why worry? I know that you can go to your doctor and ask them not to tell your parents, and they won't. But if you have some kind of disease, that is fatal, or a concern, they will notify your parents. I hope I helped! [ SexyLady's advice column | Ask SexyLady A Question ]
xO||_MENiNA_||Ox answered Saturday December 31 2005, 6:40 pm: it really depends on the disease. like say you got HIV or AIDS, then they would defintly need to tell ur parents because it is a life threating disease. but if it were syfilis or sumthing like that..i'm pretty sure they don't need to tell them.
emotedardorxx4 answered Friday December 30 2005, 6:13 pm: The easiest place to go is planned parenthood... because they give out free std tests (the diseases you get from sex) and they are completely free and confidential. That's the place i would go because i think it would cost to go to your regular family doctor and they know your parents.. i mean they have to keep it confidential but in my opinion i would rather go somewhere that they didnt know me or my family if you know what i mean..
ocbabey41 answered Friday December 30 2005, 12:02 pm: you can always go to the doctors and get tested without your parents permission and if you find out the results you can hide it from your parents also. but if you are positive, for treatment you need parents permission. -- i am positive that this information is reliable. hope i helped - - <3 michelle [ ocbabey41's advice column | Ask ocbabey41 A Question ]
Basketball3846 answered Friday December 30 2005, 10:22 am: I asked my doctor this question and she said that if I never needed anything like that done, she wouldn't be allowed to tell my parents without first asking me unless it was lifethreatening. It's a doctor/patient confidentiality. So, unless your doctor is for some reason different, no they can't tell your parents so they can never know. Imperialistic answered Friday December 30 2005, 3:27 am: If you go to a Planned Parenthood clinic, they'll deliver the results to you without your parents knowing. If you go see a doctor, they can't tell your parents either if you ask him not to. It's illegal for him to tell your parents. I recommend you take a friend with you for support when you go to get tested.
If you're in a relationship with this boy, I advise you to take him to be tested too. If not, always make sure that a guy you're about to be intimate with is tested, or atleast use a condom. [ Imperialistic's advice column | Ask Imperialistic A Question ]
ncblondie answered Thursday December 29 2005, 11:22 pm: All medical professionals are bound by the medical confidentiality act which means they cannot give any information about you to anyone without your permission. Go to your local health department or planned parenthood office and tell them you would like to be screened for STDs. Their services are generally low-cost and sometimes even free. ThugGirl041790 answered Thursday December 29 2005, 9:58 pm: I would recommend not having sex with somebody if you don`t know whether they have something and you should trust them before having sex so each time you have sex you won`t have to run and get tested.. Try condoms be safe sweetie..
You can go to planned parenthood and get tested.. they will test you for free and they CANNOT tell or mention it to your parents.. They also give out free condoms but usually a total of 6.. You can but them cheap tho from there.. Also they can give you birth control..Just tell them you don`t have insurance and no parent to come in with you..
tasuki answered Thursday December 29 2005, 9:39 pm: Yep, it's possible. You don't need to risk your life by going to a Planned Parenthood clinic. Doctors are sworn to confidentiality!! [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Thursday December 29 2005, 9:01 pm: unless you have hundreds of dollars no because your parents will ahve to prob have in under their insurance and besides unless you have all the money for the tests up front they wouldnt trust you enough to bill yuo. and i believe you cannot get perscriptions yourself until you are 18 either so unless all the tests come back negative and they dont have to call you for results your parents will know [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
xOalmaOx answered Thursday December 29 2005, 8:59 pm: I think that since you are a little underage that the doctor might have to tell your parents about the results and stuff. You could talk to your doctor about this and see what he or she and you and work out. But I can almost guarentee [sp] that the doctor would have to talk to your parents. xomegaroni answered Thursday December 29 2005, 8:59 pm: the doctors have to keep your privacy private if that makes sense. you can go to the gyno. & explain to them that you had sex & you want a test. i think it's part of their job to keep it private, because it's your information even if you're only 15. if you have any other questions you can use this website-
