For english we have to get verses from songs from other people and try to figure out what we think the song is trying to say. So could anyone who wants to send me their favorite verse from their favorite song? Or just your favorite verse from any song you like? Thanks so much. I need them by tonight.♥
NextMiaHamm answered Friday December 16 2005, 3:35 pm: my favorite song is Mayberry by Rascal Flatts. it is talking about the andy griffith show (it is an older show, but it is my favorite)
Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally, we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace
Sunday was a day of rest
Now, it’s one more day for progress
And we can’t slow down ‘cause more is less
It’s all an endless process
Chorus
I miss mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry Coke
Where everything is black and white (nana nana nananananana)
Picking on a six string
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
Watching the clouds roll by
Bye, bye

You were once my one companion . . .you were all
that mattered . . .You were once a friend and father - then my world was shattered . . .
Wishing you were somehow here again . . .wishing you were somehow near . . .Sometimes it seemed
if I just dreamed,somehow you would be here . . .
Wishing I could hear your voice again . . . knowing that I never would . . .Dreaming of you
won't help me to do all that you dreamed I could . . .
Passing bells and sculpted angels, cold and monumental, seem, for you, the wrong companions -
you were warm and gentle . . .
Too many years fighting back tears . . .why can't the past just die . . .?
Wishing you were somehow here again . . .knowing we must say goodbye . . .Try to forgive . . .
teach me to live . . .give me the strength
to try!
No more memories, no more silent tears! No more gazing across the wasted years! Help me say
goodbye...
Or "For Good" from "Wicked":
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a sky bird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the thing I've done you blame me for
But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share
And none of it seems to matter anymore
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood
Who can say if I've been
Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
Changed for the better
MummuM answered Wednesday December 14 2005, 1:17 pm: Here is my favorite verse from my favorite song, as of right now.
- - "Some say love is not for sinners
I believe that isn't true
Cause when I was finished sinning
Love came down and showed me you
And you told me how to get there
So I tried to find a way
Then I ran into your garden
But I tripped out the gate." ♥ [ MummuM's advice column | Ask MummuM A Question ]

Kenny Chesney- Who You'd Be Today
Sunny days seem to hurt the most. I wear the pain like a heavy coat. I feel you everywhere I go. I see your smile, I see your face, I hear you laughin' in the rain. I still can't believe you're gone. It ain't fair: you died too young, Like the story that had just begun, But death tore the pages all away. God knows how I miss you, All the hell I've been through, Just knowin' no-one could take your place. An' sometimes I wonder, Who'd you be today? Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams? Settle down with a family, I wonder what would you name your babies? Some days the sky's so blue, I feel like I can talk to you, An' I know it might sound crazy. It ain't fair: you died too young, Like the story that had just begun, But death tore the pages all away. God knows how I miss you, All the hell I've been through, Just knowin' no-one could take your place. An' sometimes I wonder, Who you'd be today? Today, today, today. Today, today, today. Sunny days seem to hurt the most. I wear the pain like a heavy coat. The only thing that gives me hope, is I know I'll see you again someday. Some day, some day, some day...
Here's another song that I just couldn't choose a verse out of-- It's Martina McBride's Concrete Angel. As you can probably see I am a HUGE country music fan!!
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel
Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
[Repeat Chorus]
A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
HeartsLiesFriends answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 8:25 pm: Well this isnt my favorite song but the lyrics are really awesome.
"Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional
My hopes are so high,
that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me,
so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
to break or bury,
or wear as jewelery,
which ever you prefer.
orphans answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 8:13 pm: I'm pretty sure you've heard this one before. I love it haha. It's called When you Say Nothing At All, by Alisson Krauss.
the smile on your face
lets me know that you need me
there's a truth in your eyes
saying you'll never leave me
the touch of your hand says
you'll catch me if ever i fall
you say it best
when you say nothing at all.
WhightKnight answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 7:43 pm: Well, here's one I did a while ago for a similar project. Good song regardless, one of my favorites of all time. "Remember Me" by Hoobastank.
I wanted to be just like you
So perfect, so untouchable
Now you want me to be with you
Someone who used to have it all
Do you remember now
You acted like you never noticed me
Forget it
Cause the gone has come around
You're not allowed to be a part of me
Few other good ones out there. If you're looking for more of a challenge or creativity, go with maybe "Feel Good Inc." by the Gorillaz or "Image of the Invisible" by Thrice. [ WhightKnight's advice column | Ask WhightKnight A Question ]

You granted all my wishes
And damn it im gon miss it if we fade away
I don't wanna be down
Lovin' you i have found
Girl i want you around
Always...
Don't you believe that
Nobody needs you 'cuz i do
I need all of you baby
If you can see that
Nobody needs you like i do
I need all of you baby
sizzlinmandolin answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 6:25 pm: I don't really have a favorite verse, being as it's my favorite song! I sent you three of the verses so you can pick which one you want to do if you choose to use the song at all. I hope I was able to help you and good luck, I hope you do well!
"Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls
and I'd give up forever to touch you
'cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
and I don't wanna go home right now
and all I can taste is this moment
and all I can breathe is your life
and sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight
and I don't want the world to see me
'cause I don't think that they'd understand
when everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
