I need an idea...
This isn't exactly pets, but it's the closest one.
In my neighborhood, a stray dog keeps wandering around. It's eating grass and the fur around the joints is gone. I feel really bad for the dog, but my mom won't let me take him in. Everytime I go inside to get a number for an animal shelter, he runs away. I need an idea on what to do.

hay why dont you start feeding it and keep a lead near buy so when you get a chance you can put it on him then call an animals shelter.

I know people prob. said this but Put clean food and water in an enclosed area. Then when you see the dog co in close the dog in the area. Dont cause him/her too much stress + make sure there is food/water. Then when the adoption people come to take him he will be waiting. It seems like he is really hanging on a thread (if he is eating grass ((when they eat grass they are normally sick)). And have the shelter number ready with you whenever you see him...(keep it in a pocket or something.

well you can always go to the store and buy one of those little cans of soft food and set it some where where no one can see it but where he can still find it. just dont go with your mom. and do that (if you want) untill you can get the animal shelter to come and get the dog from the neighbor hood. they should come and pick him up you guys shouldnt have to take him in so ask if they can pick him up. good luck!

i recommend putting some food and water out for him..cat food will work..or even table scraps.
if he sticks around your neighborhood..call your animal control people..they can come and catch him and take him to the pound--i know that sounds mean, but it betters his chances of getting a home. another idea is to tell people around you about him..and make flyers. maybe someone will want him.

Do you have an animal control? If so, they'll come and scope out your neighborhood for the dog and try to catch it and then they'll take it for the shelter for you.

get a bowl ( you can use tuna or lunch meats ) of food put it down in a cage or a big box with holes when he goes in closet and have your mom drive you to an animal shelter . try not to touch the dog he may be very sick .

Maybe, buy some treats? Like bacon strips or whatever and then when you see the dog offer it some. It will probably come over & then see what the number is for the animal shelter. Or maybe keep food out for it, and eventually you'll catch it!! Good luck. :(

Call the animal shelter anyway and tell them in what vicinity the dog is wandering around so they can look for him. It sounds like the dog needs help right away.

well i would recommend calling the shelter and telling them you just have a dog that comes aruond every once and a while. make sure its a no kill shelter! or have the number with you so once you see the dog yuo can call in (like have it in your cell or something) or your moms not around just tile it to a rope or something so that you have him when you call the shelter

Aww.. What to do is get a bowl of food and water .. and keep doing that every-day and he
'll get use to coming to your house and he'll keep coming back for more food and water. And also TRY to go up to him and show him your not mean so he can trust you. Then when he gets close to you, take him and just tie him up or something then call animal shelter because if you leave him out there he can get hurt.

Put food out on your porch or whatever and call the animal shelter. Try to lure him into your house until they come so he doesn't get scared away. Try using treats or more food to do so.
