May of 2004 I had a case of bacterial meningitis. Well, I'm starting to have the same symptoms again and it's worrying me. Is it possible to get Meningitis more than once? (link)
|
Probably, I've had viral meningitis four times. You should call your doctor right away or if you don't have one go to an emergency room just to check. Bacterial meningitis is even more serious than viral meningitis. Keep yourself healthy.

Does anybody know about stuffing envelopes in your own home for money? I'd Like to know if its a scam or not.
Then if you guys know if its successful and not a scam I'd like the website and etc. (link)
|
Yes, that is a scam. Those are nearly always scams. If they don't have an office you can actually visit it is a scam. Don't send in money for "supplies". If it were a real job they would pay you. You can get more information about other scams at your State Attorney General's website. There are books in the library about scams and you can type in "work at home scams" in Google to see if they have anything there. You are better off getting a real job.

Alot of people smoke weed. Even my boyfriend used to but i made him quit. Even my parents do. For some reason i dont like weed. Ive never really tried it. But knowing my parents do it makes me think bad about them. It makes me think why do they do it but they are supposed to set a good example. Most of my friends do it too. I guess im just a good girl. But my boyfriend tries to convince me that theres nothing wrong with it. And i never agree and i dont think its right. Its a drug and im ashamed of everyone that does it. I dont know why though. Is there somthing wrong with me? anything will help! but please dont leave me rude comments.

No, there is nothing wrong with you. You are the smart one in this picture. It will give you lung cancer and make your brain not function as well. You need your brain for school and the rest of your life. Having a good future depends on staying away from this and all drugs. You don't see people with good jobs doing that. You never will. They can't. Their brains went up in smoke. Stay the way you are, be successful and get out of there when you graduate from college.

In the past couple of years, I had very bad acne! Not one place on my face did I not have a pimple! I started using Proactive and it's amazing how good it clearewd up my face...not one pimple. The only thing is it didn't clear up my black heads, and now that I
m getting older there really starting to look bad and gross! I mostly have them around my nose area and the space between my eye brows. Does anybody know out there if there is a certain face wash I can get that really improvres and helps to get my black heads gone asap? Also, are there any black head strips that really truley work? I tried the strips once and it didn't help at all.not one black head was removed, idk, maybe it was the brand I used. But is there anythign that will help me as fast as possible. I'm trying to look the best I can when I get back from winter break. Thanks in advance! (link)

Neutrogena Acne Wash, Acne Soap, Acne Mask, Drying Gel and On the Spot Treatment all work well. Also, get a loofah sponge for your face. They are small and round with cloth on one side and a loofah sponge on the other. Look in the cosmetics section of drug stores or grocery stores.

This isn't exactly pets, but it's the closest one.
In my neighborhood, a stray dog keeps wandering around. It's eating grass and the fur around the joints is gone. I feel really bad for the dog, but my mom won't let me take him in. Everytime I go inside to get a number for an animal shelter, he runs away. I need an idea on what to do. (link)

Call the animal shelter anyway and tell them in what vicinity the dog is wandering around so they can look for him. It sounds like the dog needs help right away.

ok heres the deal my grandmom died when i was 7 and it realy hasnt bothered me that much unless i find things that remind me of her. next friday is my first formal and my mommom(grandmom)adn i used to always dress shop together. so what do i do now that i have to get a dress and live without her telling me wich one is best? (link)
|
Take your friends shopping with you and try to make it fun. Or your mom but only if she has similar taste to yours. Mine doesn't. Try to remember what your Grandmom liked and pick something that you and she would both like. Maybe in her favorite color to honor her. My grandmother died over the summer and it is still hard to think about her. Try to think of things she enjoyed doing and think about her when you do them. Avoiding doing things she liked only makes it harder.

Last year my Pre-Cal teacher told me that if I went on to take Calculus AP that I would flunk out by first report card. I knew that I wouldn't and the only reason I decided to take the class was because she said that about me even though I kept an A+ average in her class. Well, it's coming around to the end of the semester and I now have an A in Calculus AP. I was wondering; if this happened to you, would you tell your old teacher about your grade? (link)
|
This teacher doesn't deserve the time of day from you. She was either doing one of two things. She was insulting you or trying to use reverse psychology on you. That is rude, not motivating. Only tell her if she asks. Just say very casually, "I'm getting an A. I got an A+ in your class. Why did you think I would fail?" Then walk away and don't give her a chance to respond.

I'm a high school sophomore. I've been playing volleyball for travel ever since I was in 7th grade. This year, I haven't really been interested in playing volleyball. I didn't try out this year for club, but they have an opening for me. My dad's heart is set on me playing volleyball, but it doesn't interest me anymore. When I told him I didnt want to try out, he got really mad at me. Should I play travel or not? I don't want to but it would make my dad happy. If not, what should I say to him that won't make him upset or mad at me? Please help! (link)
|
Do you hate volleyball or is it just not that interesting? You've been playing since 7th grade. It would look great on a college application to be able to say I've done this consistently for six years. Colleges look for that. They want to see that you can stick with something for at least as long a time as you will be in college. They don't want to admit people who have dropped something because they fear they will be giving a spot to someone who will quit. Do you have other interests you have been pursuing for that length of time? Then you can substitute them on your college applications. Otherwise, I would stick with it. It might influence what college you get into which does affect the rest of your life. Besides that, it is great exercise and everyone needs that.

Sounds like you have clueless parents. They don't seem to understand that what you are doing is a reaction to how you are treated. From this I would say it is badly. Females in society are generally treated worse than males even by their own families. Your parents should have given you more self esteem than this. Yes, that's where it originally comes from your parents, your original caregivers. Since they won't give it to you you'll have to go get it yourself. Run, don't walk, to your library and type self esteem into the card catalog. Then read, read, read until you feel as good as the person you really are. You don't have to live up to anyone's image of what you should be - even your parents idea of this is not better than your own. And take care of your health. You'll need it in college where they treat females just as badly. Complain, in writing, to administration until you get results. This may also work with your parents. If you cannot tell them you need them to treat you with respect write it down for them. You deserve as much respect as everyone else on this earth. You don't deserve to feel this badly.

i thought my real dad was in prison but the other day this man came to the door saying he was my dad had my birth certificate and everything im just confuse he said do i want to come out with him to get to know each other. But why has he waited al dis time to come see me im 16 now so do u think i should go and wat would i say to him (link)

Sounds like you need to talk to the adult you live with about this. Don't ever go anywhere with anyone you don't know for your own safety. Meet with him with your current guardian to make sure this is true. Then you can decide if you want to get to know this man or not. DNA testing is a way to determine if he is your father and he should pay for it. I would also want an explanation of where he has been all this time and why he didn't try to help with your support before. He needs to now.

Has anyone had experience with the product Certain-Dri before? Is it good, and how long did it take to help you or someone you know? Describe. (link)

Yes, I used it when I was in high school and it worked great. It started to help right away. It was the best thing I ever tried. Now that I'm older I don't need it anymore and others work just fine. Don't lose hope, this won't last forever.

My mother has been unemployed since... 2000 I'll guess. She has been trying to start a real estate company. Every night I hear her crying and when I ask her what's wrong, she says that she's not a good mother and she's sorry she can't provide for this family. Some guy ripped her off illegally and lawyers keep ignoring her about it, so she doesn't think she's going to get the money back, and it was a lot of money. She says we probably won't have enough money to live on. She's my mom and I love her and I need a way to help her. I can't get a job because I'm too young. My father is a lawyer but they have had a rocky relationship ever since the divorce and I highly doubt he will help her for free. We have nowhere to turn. (link)

Your mother needs to call the Legal Aid Society which gives free or low cost help to those who cannot afford it. She can also get help from AFDC which is Aid to Families with Dependent Children. These numbers are in your phone book. Also, your father needs to pay child support. These problems belong to your parents and they need to take care of them now before it gets worse. You can help only by pointing them in the right direction.

Okay so my dads a major alcoholic and Im trying to get him in trouble and arrested or somehow away from my mother and i cause he is a danger and a jerk. I mean its horrible. He wont physically abuse us to the point of marks cause he dont want to go to jail. However we suspect he may be back on drugs (hes been on them in the past) cause he seems all down dissapears and come back really perky. How can I see if he is? How can I prove it? What should I do? PLEASE HELP! (link)

Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline (they are there 24 hours) at 1-800-799-7233. They can help you and refer you to others who can help. Give the number to your mother or call them yourself now. Your dad sounds like he needs some help himself but you don't have to make his problems yours.

Okay. I'm a junior in high school and I'm graduating at the end of this year. I want to enter college in the Fall of 2006 and major in math and physics, those have always been areas that interest me. I have already applied to four different colleges, I'm working on scholarships as hard as I can, and I have two part-time jobs in addition to keeping up extracurriculars and 4 AP classes. I'm working as hard as I can this year because I really want to set myself up for college and living on my own.
Here's the problem: My mom has forbidden me to apply to any colleges, she wants me to go in the Fall of 2007 so that I can get in a full year of work, because she says I'm not mature enough. I have worked really, really hard at everything: I've kept up my chores, my job teaching piano, my job at the library, my schoolwork, and being in a musical, and she still won't let me. Now, normally I would think that working for a year to save up money for college is a great idea. But my majors are in math and physics, and a year is a long time to be away from calculus and quantum mechanics. I'm really afraid of losing the momentum, and of missing my chance to go for my goals.
My guidance counselor at school tells me to apply to every college I want to and not worry about my mom just yet...along with a score of other people, like my dad, my grandma, my boyfriend, and various other family friends. It's just, I'm really worried about this...like the fight that will ensue once I start hearing back from the colleges I applied to. I'm completely dedicated to going in the Fall of 2006...with or without my mom's consent, but I would really like it to be with.
Is there anything I can do to convince her I can handle it?
Sorry it's so long -

Apply to colleges now. Don't wait. Many scholarships are available to high school seniors that you will not be eligible for if you wait a year. Check your local university library for scholarship books. Ask the reference librarian to show them to you. Also ask your high school guidance counselor how to get money for college. You will need several thousand dollars over what colleges will admit to and you won't find out until after they hand you your financial aid check. The University of California, Santa Barbara does this and their excuse was, "These students parents have a lot of money." If one counselor isn't helpful - ask another and keep asking until you have put together enough to go. But go now! You are extremely intelligent and should not give up. Your mother may just fear how much she will miss you. Don't give up something this important. She'll soon get over it and be very proud of you.
