So, there's this thing called converse <3
It's a fairly simple question (I think) but I need some help! You could say I'm a pretty preppy girl... not like (omg I'm really flippin annoying and too perky and I'm stuck-up!) not that kind of preppy. But, I wear polos, jeans, cute shirts from like... american eagle, aeropostale, abercrombie and fitch etc., sweatpants all that stuff that's so called, "preppy". I also like chucks... converse, whatever you would like to call them! But... some people say that converse don't really go with the whole preppy look.
What do you think? Would it be okay if I got them?

Christine, I say if you want it.. go for it. Judging by the maturity in your question, I suppose I can safely assume that you are not a child. You're old enough to make your own decisions (for the most part, probably.. at least when it comes to this) and choose your own friends. If someone is really and truly your friend, they won't care what you wear. And to those who do care, you don't WANT to know them. "Preppy", "Punk", "Emo", "Goth" - who cares!? Really! Just wear whatever you feel suits you best. Fashion shouldn't be this much of a headache; don't even worrie about it!

Converse go with anything and are comfortable converse arnt all black and high tops they can be flat and blue or pink

i think converse are really cool and look good with almost anthing. if you think you and your 'preppy' outfit look good in them, i say go for it! go for one day of experimenting. ask the people at school what they think. if too many ppl say 'eww' - im not sayin they will - and you dont feel good that way, don't wear them anywhere. hope it helps

It doesn't matter what I think ; it matters what you think. Who cares what people think. You like the shoes, you get the shoes. If people are going to complain about that they obviously have no life if they're too busy worrying and complaining about what other people are wearing. If they want to do that ; they should do it about their own clothes and just worry about themselves. So if you like them, you get them. I hope I helped =]

Well i have a preppy look to me also and i have converse. I think it would be perfecly fine to get them its always good to have a variety in your wardrobe!!

Well, they are considered more "punk". But, thats only a label. If you really like them, why wouldn't you buy them just because people don't think they go together with the preppy look. Although, I have never seen a prep with converse on!

Chucks are the best mother fucking kicks EVER. I wear polos and girlie "preppy" things and I wear my beat up black and white Chucks all the time!
And plus you'd be different from every other stuck up preppy bitch in your school that wears like those 9000 dollar sneakers from A|X (armani exchange) or wherever else they buy their shoes from. Converses are rocker shoes...well a lot of rocks and goths wear them and honestly I don't think it goes with the look, but you donjt have to have a look you can wear all different types of things.

I wear preppy clothes with converse all the time. I like them and they look cute. Everyone wears them now.
Edit: Me saying that everyone wears them now didn't mean that you're like everyone else. It means that everyone that dresses in all black to dressing in colors as bright as the sun can wear them and do wear them. And you say you want to be yourself yet don't want people thinking you're a poser? How is that possible? If you care enough about someone calling you a "poser" that you won't wear a certain type of shoes without the approval of 50,000 people then that isn't being yourself. It would be fine to wear them, whether they go with this look or not. There's nothing wrong wearing Converses with your outfits. I wear mine pretty much everyday and they go with my "preppy" clothing. It doesn't matter what people say because and if you like them, buy and wear them.
