12 or 13 is a good age to start babysitting as long as you can be responsible. a good price to charge is about $5 per hour/per kid. make sure you split the money evenly so that doesnt cause any problems between you and your friend. it totally depends on the parents how long there going to stay out. but if you have a curfew that you have to be home by, just let them know in advance that you wont be able to stay out any later than that.hope i helped XoXo

Well what i would do is just once your finished babysitting just say "As much as you think i deserve" sometimes they might hound you but just keep saying "As much as you think." sometimes that will show them that you arnt greedy. Also be sure to put in there that you and your friend are going to split the money. Parents who knows how long..normaly they will tell you about how long they will be gone. hope this help =)

isntlifegreat answered Friday November 4 2005, 9:43 pm:
Usually a good age to babysit for money is atleast 13. Depending on your age, experience, and the amount of kids your babysitting you should charge a different amount of money /hour. If you're 12 or younger, don't charge any money because it's pretty much just good practaice. If you have minimum experience charge under $5/hour. After you get a babysitting liscence by the red cross you can get up to $15/hour depending on your age and the number of children your babysitting.

Hope I Helped!

i started babysitting when i was 13, but thats not always the right age for everyone...you need to truthfully evaluate yourself and how responsible you are. Would you know how to deal with a child who was choking? Who was crying? If you think your ready for this responsibility-your ready to babysit. And as for the price, depending on how well behaved the kids are and how long 4-6$ is about right. hope that helps =]

I started last year when I was 13 but I've been 14 since this March. I feel I started at the right age but it's not always how old you are. If you are used to caring for children and are good at it; that's also what matters. The parents will probraly pay you $6 an hour, which means with your friend helping you only get $3. I know it's not a lot of money so think about flying solo for the job. It depends where the parents need to go. If it's out for dinner they'll probraly be gone a good 4 hours.

i think you should be at least 75 to babysit as the younger you are the more likely the baby will eat you. Hope this helped!!

HectorJr answered Sunday October 23 2005, 12:02 pm:
Age is not always the deciding factor - it should be maturity. At 10 I baby sat my three younger siblings, one of which was less than a year old. Was I old enough? Probably not, but I was and still am mature and responsible. If you feel that you and your friend are, then go for it. As for charging...since you are going to split, I'd say 12 dollars an hour, 6 each sounds reasonable. I mean you don't want to push it if it is your first time. You should try more for experience and learning rather than for money. Once you get used to everything and are a lot more confident then yeah charge a bit more. As for time parents stay out... thats hard to say, it could be 2-3 hours or even past 5. Definatley bring stuff to do like with the kid if they are old enough and stuff. Remember to try and not talk to anyone on the phone and really pay attention to the kid; I know it sounds easy and lame, but you don't want anything to happen or for you to mess up. So hope that helped and good luck.

you dont have to be a certain age, just when youre ready and it also depends on the age of the kids, but most people start at ages 12 or 13. a good cost is $7 per hour because 5 is too low and 10 is too high. most parents usually go out for atleast 2 hours and some might even stay in the house, but just want you to be a mother's helper or entertain the child. good luck! and inbox me if need ideas about anything for babysitting...i know all about it!

Wow if babysitters are getting $10/hr, im quitting my job! Thats only for certified sitters!!

12 or 13. Normally the parents dont ask how much you want to get paid. Unless you are an adult babysitter thats certified!

Between $5 and $6/hr is the going rate. It also depends on how many kids they have. Then its usually alittle more. Parents stay out till 12:00 and later on weekends! Depending on their plans!

well babysiting is hard work, i sugest that you start when you around 16 that way you be responsbly. and don't invite any one if there not your partner. well it should depend on the age of the baby. if there babys you should charge about 8 bucks per hour and add two buck every time you need to change a dimper. if thay ask why you tell them that it's because they are hard to baby sit them. if they like 4 and up charge like 5 bucks, because they easy to keep busy and if they have a cough make sher you have a bottle of night cough medisn because it make's them sleepy and ask them if their alliget to it. and use as told, don't durg them.

GDROB2 answered Sunday October 23 2005, 11:46 am:
The age seems to be 12-years-old these days. At age 12 you can do a course and get CPR training as a part of it. I think though that parents are looking for a mature, responsible individual first and foremost. If you are mature and responsible that is great.

They also look for references. Have you done this before? Having your friend along may be something some parents like. Others may not hire you because they do not want to pay two people to do the job one can handle. As far as how long they stay out for that's up to them. Also, think this through is splitting the money a good idea? There may be a squabble there especially after spending several hours with these kids you may want more than half or vice-versa when you see the work put in.

SweetxxIntoxication answered Sunday October 23 2005, 11:37 am:
parents are usually out for several hours..and id say 15+would be best to start babysitting, and you must have tollerance, and patiance...
minimum wage is usually $6.50, but you and your friend can decide on a fair price due to the time you will be babysitting and how many kids you are babysitting. (dont go over $7 though i think)
