Whenever I babysit, the parents always ask me "How much do you pay per hour?". The truth is, I don't have a rate, and they always overpay me, which I don't mind :D, but I think it's impolite to take more than 15 dollars an hour. How can I politly set a reasonable babysitting rate that isn't too much or too little?
sweetXbeachbum answered Thursday September 1 2005, 3:07 am: Well, I babysit, and I'm in 8th grade. I charge $10 per hour for one/two kids, and add $2 per hour for each child more than that.
XxWhiteLiesoO answered Monday August 29 2005, 12:32 pm: You should probrablly tell them how much and hour if you dont like them giving you to much just say like 10$ and if your really good they'll give you more :)

jj_u_i_c_y answered Saturday August 27 2005, 8:30 pm: hey hun. when i babysit i usually pay $7.00 per hour. but my other friend does $6.00 oer hour with an extra $2.50 per child.
cailoisa answered Saturday August 27 2005, 7:42 pm: Wow, who do you babysit for? Anyway, I make only $7.00 at work, and the bills have to get paid, so I pay $3.50 an hour. This means that for every hour I work, I'm only actually making $3.50 an hour as well, since the other half of my hour is already spent. My babysitter works from 7-11 am, so I give her $15. If I ever get a bonus at work, I give her a little bit of that, too, to say thanks. I think half of my money is pretty fair. [ cailoisa's advice column | Ask cailoisa A Question ]
thinkpink03 answered Saturday August 27 2005, 6:50 pm: I think $7 per hour is good && thats what I charge. $5 is too little and over 10 is too high. So i say anywhere between 7 to 8 dollars. Parents are willing to pay that much and if you think about it you make enough money for each hour. Also what you can do is base the rate on the # of children instead of hours. (EXAMPLE: 2 children...13-14 dollars per hour.)
DancinCutie08 answered Saturday August 27 2005, 5:40 pm: well i do like $2 per child per hour but at the 2 house i babysit at both with 2 kids i charge $5 an hour. i would say thats about a good rate to charge because parents wont want you as often if you have a highrate. maybe talk to some of your friends and see what they charge because its good to have a rate so that you dont get disapointed. and its also not nice to let parents overpay you because they are prob at the hardest piont money wise. If they pay you much just say hey this is to much money i didnt earn this much i only charge so and so an hour. [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]

AskLammaNAsh answered Saturday August 27 2005, 5:36 pm: Lamma - 15 DOLLARS AN HOUR? ARE YOU BABYSITTING FOR MILLIONAIRES?? haha well you might live in a more well-off town than i do, but i usually charge, as a going rate, $2.55 an hour per kid. but the price goes up if i have to a.) feed them a major meal, like lunch or dinner b.) i have to take them to a park or somewhere else or c.) if they have a friend over, in which case they're usually rowdy. for example if you have two kids, and you babysit from 9-5, feed them lunch, and take them too the park you should get paid between $50-60. its not A LOT a lot, but i think its a good medium that you and the parents will agree on.
hope you make lots of easy $$! n feel free to ask a q in the future!
sunnyville answered Saturday August 27 2005, 5:16 pm: Well it depends what you things you do at yuor babysitting per hour like do you change diapers, feed the child, and others?Probably at least, ask them what they think will be a fair payment for them to give you.Note the next time what you do per hour to know how much you should receive for a fair payment that is the second option. And how nice of you!
