im 14/f...i feel like i sleep a LOT! like here's an average day: wake up around 10...take a nap from like 1 to 3 30...then get up and do whatever...then take another nap from like 5 to 6 30...then stay up until like 1 in the morning and go to bed and do it all over again the next day...is this normal or is there something wrong???
pinkfairy1773 answered Thursday July 21 2005, 6:57 pm: Whoa girl slow your roll here. its not that your sleeping portion is much but your sleep is irregular. (ok i admit i do sleep late and sometimes wake up around 10 or 9:30 but only when i am really tired)
but here is what "regular" people's shchedule is
go to sleep around 10:00 pm
wake up around 6:00AM (for early birds)
and around 7AM (but exception for summer vac)
which in times can be around to 8:00 to 9:00
but most of times it can be 7-8AM
and if you sleep late, you wont grow. and try sleeping earlier...and if you cant fall asleep, which in case you are like me, then try reading a book. but still if you cant sleep for long time then you have to consult a doctor .well first tell your parents first.
and try wake up early so you will go sleep early
and it wont be so hard for you when the school starts again.(wow what a drag huh. i can so relate to you because i am 14 too )

xokaylao2 answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 5:53 pm: Hey,
Maybe the reason you need to sleep so much during the day is because you arent getting enough sleep at night! Its also possible that you have a disorder. Talk to your doctor about it.

K2204 answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 5:37 pm: I think its because you go to sleep to late at night. If you go to bed around 9 or 10, you would wake up around 8 or 9. Then you should be good all day:)
but, it sounds to me like you are doing mighty fine keeping yourself with enough sleep!
Nevaeh314 answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 5:00 pm: Sometimes you really do need that much sleep, it depends on how much your body's going through and how much activity you get besides. But it can also depend on how you eat. If you're not getting enough iron in your body, you could be anemic, which can make you feel like you're drained, exhausted, and feel like you've been hit with a ton of bricks. Talk to your doctor about it, and if you half low iron levels, you can take iron pills.
There can be other things that can make you feel tired, like thyroid problems or sleep problems. Talk to your doctor, he/she will be able to tell you. Hope it works out :) [ Nevaeh314's advice column | Ask Nevaeh314 A Question ]

ncblondie answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 2:32 pm: It's natural for you to be sleeping alot. Teens need 10-12 hours a sleep. Your body is going through a lot of changes right now and sleeping is your body's way of keeping up with them. If it's interfering with your life, try keeping your sleep to a schedule. Go to bed around midnight and sleep until 9, then take a 1-2 hour nap once a day. If this doesn't help, go see your doctor. Excessive tiredness could be a sign of low iron. UncleBob answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 2:31 pm: OK. You have asked the question so you obviously think that something is not right. Well lets just put it all in a nutshell. You are 14f but you seem to sleep too much. OK then. When did you last do anything that was physical? I mean like take a long walk, take the dog for a long walk, go swimming, in fact, do anything that required you to actually turn off the TV and the computer and actually go out and do something? You have got yourself into a rut, and some bad habbits. Now I suggest that you push yourself when you feel that you need a nap. Your body is getting used to doing it and you will really have to be tough with yourself. DONT have a nap. Go out into the fresh air. Walk round to see a friend, etc. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THE IDEA OF A NAP. Just try to cut one out at first (nap that is) but eventually you need to cut all of 'em out. Try having a part of the day just before a normal bedtime when you just sit for half an hour and read a book or a magazine. NOT IN FRONT OF THE TV.. You need to adjust your body clock and get it back into sync.
I really know what I am talking about because I am a proffesional driver and my working patterns are very obscure to say the least. Sometimes I am getting up at 4am to do a job, other times I get up at 8am. My body clock needs to be re-synced every so often otherwise I would be a wreck and unable to do my job... So wise up and start to get outa the habbit.. [ UncleBob's advice column | Ask UncleBob A Question ]
rupakkm answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 1:57 pm: well you are getting 13 hours of sleep a day. you only need 8. there isn't really anything wrong w/ it. just sleep at least 3 hours after you eat or else your metabolism slows down (so u gain weight quickly). xoBrowneyes answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 1:41 pm: Your just sleeping so much because you are about to grow!
mushoku answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 1:37 pm: It could just be that you need to be more active. If you do a lot of sitting around or low energy activities, you'll have a low amount of energy. If you get out (or not) and do things that take more energy you will build more energy. If that makes sense.
DrJenny answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 1:30 pm: What is your mood like during the times you are awake?
Do you feel life is great, or is everything uninteresting to you?
There are very many reasons why you may be sleeping so much, ranging from something simple such as a disrupted sleep pattern,ie, you go to bed at 1.00am, try going at 11.00 on as regular a basis as you are able to manage, and cutting out one of your day time naps, to more complex and serious reasons why you may be tired.
If changing your sleep pattern doesn't work, I strongly advise a visit to your Doctor.
It could also be your body adjusting to the changes you are going through right now, hormones etc. [ DrJenny's advice column | Ask DrJenny A Question ]
Teza answered Tuesday July 19 2005, 1:30 pm: Nothing is wrong with you its just you get bored and then you have nothing to do and then you sleep. Try keeping yourself busy. Go out to the mall or something with your friends or just clean around the house so you're not as lazy. Lazyness is a sin. Lol. So get out there and start doing some activities. ll ♥ ll [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
