ok i'm 13/f and i'm not sexually active or anything but i am just wondering how effective condoms are. i know that sometimes they have a hole in them or something, but about what percent of the time are they safe? thanks!
southsideboy answered Wednesday July 13 2005, 3:08 pm: before using a condom check it to see if there is a hole if so throw it away don't use it unless you want a baby of course. they also have condoms for women. Also make sure that when using a condom that it stays on through the whole time your having sex sometimes if the sex gets to wild it will pull off by itself. so pull it up like every 5 min. condoms are 93.2% safe and 6.7% not safe please rate thankyou. Mami0s0xclusivex3 answered Sunday July 10 2005, 2:58 pm: Condoms are about 90% safe..it depends on if the guy wears it right, But to be more safe so you do not get pregnant is to get on the pill. It will be more safe, good luck and hope i helped u sum
TheHeadHonchoPoncho57 answered Sunday July 10 2005, 1:47 pm: about 90% of the time it'll prevent you from STDs and pregnancy of the guy wears it the right way. But remember that you can still get genital warts or crabs because crabs and the virus that creates the warts are not transmitted through semen. Beloved_x_Eyes answered Saturday July 9 2005, 7:54 pm: Condoms are usually 95% effective when theyre used correctly. Sometimes condoms can be put on wrong, there is a hole, or it falls off or breaks during intercourse. Still, if you want to be extra sure to prevent STDs or pregnancy, its good to get tested for HIV and get your partner to also. Use birth control, the patch or anything else you can.

lovelyrita answered Saturday July 9 2005, 7:45 pm: According to www.fda.gov, condoms have an 11% failure rate, meaning 11 out of 100 women who just use a condom get pregnant. This percentage includes those who use condoms improperly, though.
Christine13 answered Saturday July 9 2005, 7:25 pm: o wow ohkay i asked this question in sex ed. the teacher that they arent effective..really at all!!! i was shocked! i was like "what!" and everyone turned around and started laghing like "o0o christine" i didnt give a shit i laughed too BUT i was freakin tweakin! the absolute best way to avoid stds are..
1. get tested WITH your sex mate.
2. wait until marriage but only AFTER you have been tested.
3. to prevent becoming pregnant use pills or the patch. (patch is easier).
and also use a condom every time...even though they really kind of are useless (as said by my teacher).
be safe! luv ya

dreamandhope14 answered Saturday July 9 2005, 7:23 pm: 95% are safe. Yes, you can possibly break one, or there's one with a hole. but that's like 2% of the time. There's more ways other than condoms too, so make sure you realize those too. But 99% time, use a condom. Just be protective
