I really have no clue in hell why your face is shiny. Your supposed to wash it. It could be like some rare skin disiese.

Pore Refining Mattifier
This dermatologist-tested, oil-free silicone formula absorbs oil and eliminates shine. It works better than a powder to prevent shine from breaking through, so make-up looks fresh all day. Its dual-action formula transforms into a silky matte finish the moment you apply it, so fine lines and wrinkles are diminished. Pores also look smaller.

You should try clinique acne soap, they will match your skin type up with it. And after use oil free moisturizer from them. Go to a mall, Nordstroms and Dillards are bound to have it.

I also suffer from oily skin. I went to my dermatologist and he told me several things:

-Use a gentle cleanser. Harsh cleansers can actually cause your skin to produce more oil. (Cetaphil is an excellent product.)

-Don't go overboard. There is no miracle product. I use a prescription gel in the morning and a perscription cream at night. While my skin is clear, it doesn't do anything about the general oiliness. What I said about harsh cleansers apply to harsh facial products in general.

-Keep washing your face two times a day. It is especially important to wash your face at night. Not washing your face before you go to bed can cause your pores to clog while you are sleeping.

-If necessary use a moisturizer. Only use a moisturizer in the places that need it. For example, I normally only apply lotion to the eye area, where my skin is dry. Make sure the product that you purchase is _non-comedogenic_. (Anything by Aveeno is also an excellent product.)

The best way to keep your face from appearing shiny is to wear makeup. You'll need a good foundation, loose powder, and pressed powder. Be sure to carry the pressed powder with you. Then you can re-apply if you notice that your face is starting to shine. Make sure that ALL your make-up is also non-comedogenic. (Non-comedogenic means that the product will not clog your pores. If a product advertises that it "won't clog pores" instead of "non-comedogenic" it's a lie. Only buy products were it specificly states that it is "non-comedogenic.)

-Food does not cause your skin to become oily. My dermatologist told me that it really doesn't matter whether I eat french fries or not. What you eat does not affect your skin. (Normally.) The only exception to this rule is if you have a type of allergic reaction to that particular food. In that case, stay away...But if not, eat whatever you want.

Yes! Try just the tiniest dab of baby powder. :) Otherwise, use some foundation. But not too much. Don't want to "cake" up that pretty face of yours.

Try using an exfoliator once a day, that should help. Don't moisturise, or if you do, get an easily absorbed, non-greasy one (it will say on the bottle if it is or not). Try buying face wipes - check that they cleanse, tone, remove make up etc but don't moisturise - and use them after coming out of the shower (the hot water opens up your pores) instead of washing your face. Sometimes water just isn't enough or can strip the face of sebum, the natural oil it produces, forcing it to produce excess amounts. Stay away from greasy food - don't use excess oil when frying and try not to eat fry-ups, take aways, pizza or chips too much - and drink lots of water. Oh, and when you're buying face wipes, look for ones with 'shine control' or 'oil balancing' properties/agents/etc. They should help!!
There's also a special type of 'shine control' paper you can get that you wipe across your skin to remove the oil. I don't think they make it any more, so (and I know it sounds odd, but...) baking paper works just as well.
Lemons are also great for oily skin - you can drink the juice, or some kind of juice that has lemons in it (and if you have to drink fizzy drinks, drink coke or pepsi with lemon), or just apply it to the greasiest areas of your skin.
Here's a home-remedy face pack for greasy skin -
*Take the seeds out of a large cucumber.
*PureƩ it (like, shove it in the blender for ages)
*Add a teaspoon of lemon juice
*Add a teaspoon of witch hazel (you can buy this in bottles from any good chemist, pharmacy, beauty shop etc)
*Add an egg white
*Add two tablespoons of cream or plain yoghurt (Greek is best)
*PureƩ it all in the blender.
*Put it on your face for 20-30 minutes, until it dries.
*Rinse well with warm water.

Good luck :)
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx

Ive seen those wipes advertised that you can take around with you that mops up excess oil on your face. Im not sure of the brand but i think they're quite popular so quite a few places probably do them i think they'd be quite easy to find. Then you could just pop into the toilet every now and again and use them. Also have you thought bout altering your face wash? Maybe using one for oily skin (if you dont already) and exfoliating regularly? Good luck!

Karen answered Tuesday April 5 2005, 6:07 pm:
Try buying and using a face wash that is oil free so it won't make your face shiney. Neutrogena has a few products that are oil free and that won't clog up your pores. Right now, I'm using Gentle Cleansing Wash by PURPOSE. It's soap free and won't clog up pores. It works really great.

Putting on cover up powder will help prevent your face to be shiney/oily, by the way.
