I want to stop biting my nails but I don't know how to. I've tried before and it never seems to work out. My mom tells me to sit on my hands but that doesn't work. I've tried chewing gum and yet I still bite them and my nails are too short to paint. I've even got my nails done before and when I take the fake nails off and my real ones are long they just break off. Any suggestions?

There is this clear nail polish that tastes really bad and it prevents you from biting your nails. ]
i kno some kids that have those problems too and what you should do is to put bandaids over your nails verticly so cover your nails and you wont be able to bite them... good luck!<3 ]
I recommend that whenever you actually bite your nails, you stop. Its pretty easy and doesnt take to long to do. You're just not willing enough to do it. ]
Try painting your nails (I know you said they are too short, but so were mine and it worked). If you don't want them to be colored, put on a clear coat. Besta Luck ]
I heard if you put them in vinegar, when you bite them it tastes horrible. Also around the house try to wear gloves or something.. and also once when I was buying nail polish i saw this one that was for people who bite their nails, I'm not sure what it does, but it is clear, and it probably strengthens your nails, and gives them a bad taste so you'll stop. Finally, just try to keep busy and whenever you go to bite them THEn sit on your hands or something. ]

The thing that you should try is to just keep your hands busy. My parents put vinegar (i think) and when you bite your nails they taste really bad and you just stop and it goes away and it really does work

To stop biting your nails, there are a few things that you can do. Dip your hands in vinegar and when you actually bite your nails, it will taste gross and you will stop eventually. There is also this nail polish that is specially made for people who bite their nails. It's clear and it tastes really bad. Just try to distract yourself when you are about to bite your nails. Don't worry, this habit will fade away. Hope I helped :)

To deal with the specific nail-biting problem, you need a couple things.
The first thing you need to do is bring up your calcium intake, preferably with magnesium to help with absorbtion (you can find the magnesium in many health stores). This is the underlying drive for biting your nails; your body is trying to get more calcium.
If you drink soda pop, you need to seriously consider stopping. It's extremely acidic, and one of the things that does is force your body to leech calcium from your bones and teeth - and bite your nails. Why does it do this? Calcium is alkaline (or basic), the opposite of acidic, and if your blood becomes too acidic...you die. So your body uses the calcium, basically, to keep you alive. Other things, like taking more vitamin C and eating alkaline foods while avoiding more acidic foods (look online for examples and suggestions), should also be done. But just eliminating the pop should help immensely.
Once you address the underlying causes, then things like chewing gum will help, because the habit will still be there...and with the cause done, it's just a habit, and habits can be substituted for.
I know it's a hard thing...it was very hard for me to do. But I used to bite my nails to the point where the skin under them would get get infected, they hurt a lot, and they were beginning to atrophy. And I've been much, much better once I cut off my beloved Mountain Dew. ]

I bite my nails too but what I usually do is get acrylic tips put on. The after I get them off and they are long I use this nail polish that Sally Hansen makes which makes your nails stronger. You can get it any drug store. Good Luck. ]
You really just have to keep your hands busy. Always keep something small, like a rock or something in your hands and wear gloves at night. There's also stuff you can buy at drugstores that you put on your nails and it makes them taste awful, so you won't bite them. Don't worry, a lot of people have this problem and I know you can stop. Good luck!
Hope I helped!
