I have a long haired domestic black cat. I also have beige carpeting throuout my home. He leaves clipms of hair all over the house and not even vacuming seems to work in pickking it up. I am sick of spending hours on my hands and knees trying to get it off of the floor. Any suggestions?

As for getting the hair off of the floor, you can get these roller things that get cat hairs off of your clothes, you can get really large ones of these - just roll it across the floor and it will pick them up.
You can get them from Bettaware in the Uk, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get them where you are.

jbdreamer answered Monday February 14 2005, 5:06 pm: My mother use to have a rubber broom that was ment to be used on carpet. It was good for gathering up pet hair. I use a damp sponge to get cat hair of the furniture, but I suppose it would work for carpet as well. For any animal that sheds a lot, it's helpful to brush them everyday. selectopaque answered Monday February 14 2005, 4:40 pm: Your cat shouldn't be shedding big clumps of hair. If your cat is shedding big clumps of hair, then it means that you are not grooming him properly.
Long haired cats need to be brushed at least daily in order to keep their hair tangle free and comfortable for them. This will also aid you by keeping the clumps off of your carpet.
If you are having a hard time starting out with brushing, then you should cut the clumps off of him, and then brush him daily to keep the clumps away.
bucsbaby6969 answered Monday February 14 2005, 4:35 pm: Ive had a cat like that but it wasnt as bad as it seems for you. But we made sure to brush the cat at least 3 times a day and sometimes more. It can get really tiring but the cat enjoyed it and the hair on the floor was decreasing in amount. So if you have any free time just brush him...a lot but not too hard, but besides that i dont know if anything would work but you can always contact a vet! :) [ bucsbaby6969's advice column | Ask bucsbaby6969 A Question ]
laffintaffy359 answered Monday February 14 2005, 4:22 pm: I'm not really sure how you can get it out of the carpet besides using a lint roler which would take a loooong time, but if you brush your cat once a day and just put the hair in the trash it could help a lot! most cats usually like to be brushed too so it might benefit both you & the cat:)
