Smoking
My parents are always smoking and i hate the small of smoke!! They are always smoking and I don't know how to stop them!! I have tryed talking to them and it doesn't help!!! Please help me!!!

trust me. there is no way to stop them. just when they are smoking around you walk away from them to another room of the house or soemthing. wish i could help you but i cant.

Your parents are endangering your health by smoking around you. Second hand smoke can be deadly. Instead of just throwing away your parents cigarrettes, which will just annoy them try and get the point of your health across. Both my parents smoke and I got them to cut back by coughing loudly, and consistently whenever they lit up in my prescence. I also wore a doctors mask in our house for a couple days.
They are adults though, so you can't really make them do anything. Try and compromise if they won't quit completely- ask them not to smoke in the house, or around you or designate rooms where smoking is not allowed or is allowed.

when mai parents smoked.. i would alwaes take their cigaretts and thro them awae.. and smush them.. and if they asked me where they were i would be like.. "i dont kno.. but theyre bad for you anywaes.. " like.. i mean.. eVeRy tyme they got new ones.. so.. they eventuslly quit!

i know what you mean.. my older sister smokes and so does my grandmother. tell them what it does to you, and by smoking a cigarette - what the consequence is.. stuff like that. good luck and i hope i helped.

There is nothing you really can do unless you move out. Right now your parents have total control over you. Sorry

id get them some gum. tell them to smoke outside or something like that and not in the car. you could get lung cancer or something because they smoke and thats not good. just tell them i dont like it, if they dont stop id take the packets of ciggerets and through them away every time you see it, but thats just me.

keep your bedroom door shut, its pretty much the only room that they can listen and not smoke in there. so your room will still smell really good =) and maybe you can convince your parents to burn candels when they do, or step outside when they want to, but its their house and they can do waht they want, you can also start shutting all the doors too and have the spray fragrences around the house to keep the smell out. hope that your parents will learn! lol x0

Your parents know how bad smoking is for their health, but try to understand that it is an addiction. They are entitled to make their own decisions and do what they want. It's very hard to quit smoking, and if they have never made an effort to try and stop you should push them into that. It's great that you want them to stop, but there is really nothing you can do. It has to be on their action alone. And talking only gets you so far.
I see why you would be upset, they are not respecting you. Ask them kindly if they would smoke outdoors instead of inside the house. You would be better off by asking them to do that than to tell them to stop smoking all together. Make it clear that they do have that right to keep smoking if they wish, but you wouldn't like them to do it near you. I think that will make everyone be on good terms. They can still smoke, you won't have to smell it. (lol) I know you're trying to get them to stop all together, but what else could you do? If you stole their cigs they would be really upset and you might get in trouble. If all of this fails, you will just have to try and deal with it. :( Try you're best to keep your room and other areas of the house smelling clean.
Hopefully they'll listen to you. But it's always hard to get people to stop an addiction. Good luck babe!

Hey, well since you tried talking to them, why don't you make a poster board or write a short essay explaining what smoking can do to them. Yes, it sounds dumb but it actually works. I told someone to do this and their parent stopped smoking because she was afraid of what she was getting into. On your poster board, explain all the diseases you can get caused from smoking and that one how your parents may breath out of their neck. Just research everything and come up with something. Well tell them that their smoking might affect you and because they smoke so often that you might start smoking when you get older. Also tell them what smoking causes. If they don't listen ask them very nicely if they can cut down. Also try getting out of the house when they smoke maybe they will realize that it's because of their smoking that you want to leave alot. Hope I helped. ~Calie~

I am just a smartass when im around my parents when they smoke. When they take a cig out im like o ya sure smoke. Go ahead ill just hold my breath! Or ya kil me! 2nd hand smoke! thanks mom! then she'll get all at me and im like well whatever gosh! your like killin me i dont want lung cancer or whatever!! so now she finally smokes out in the garage after like 4 months of whining. I mean just tell your mom you dont like the smell of smoke. You dont like it being on your clothes and you hate people pointing out that you smell like smoke. Just tell her to go smoke in one room. Like the back or front porch. Or the garage. Or outside. Or smoke with a window open.. like sit by on. or in the bathroom-hope i helped! rate me plz! (trix)
