My house smells really bad.. like dogs. How do i get the smell to go away? I've tried air fresheners like NeutraAir and Febreeze and Oust but none of them seem to work. Is there an INEXPENSIVE way to get my house clean- and fresh-smelling? I'll rate 5's for everyone who tries 2 answer!

What you need is to get rid of the source of the odor.
Most odors are generated from some sort of organic compound like bacteria, mold, fungus etc...
Other source are chemical compound like paint, glue etc...
There is one product that will get rid of any and I mean any and all odors by attacking the sours.
Its new technology that delivers Chlorine Dioxide which has been around for a long time but not readily available to the general consumer. The product is called Biocide System's Room shocker.
The product works so well they offer a money back guarantee!
It’s not expensive and it’s easy to use.

It eliminates odors, air born viruses and bacteria. I have one on my home and love it. More info go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
for complete details. I have installed these on numerous clients’ homes and businesses and had great success with eliminating odors. [ joes's advice column | Ask joes A Question ]
Shortie8959 answered Monday December 20 2004, 7:44 pm: Try opening the windows every now and then, and try the Lysol stuff, it works good. Keep using the air fresheners. I guess depending on how bad it smells, it might take some time. It will eventually smell better if you keep at it. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

ixjacquixi answered Monday December 20 2004, 5:33 pm: If you have a house like that it's best to start from the bottom top. Try renting a Rug Doctor you can rent it for about $10 and that will lift the stains out of the carpet. Then give your couches a little bit of Febreeze even if you said it doesn't work. Light some candles open some windows. And dust. Your house should be clean enough if you do this a few other things. [ ixjacquixi's advice column | Ask ixjacquixi A Question ]
PinkLady4863 answered Monday December 20 2004, 5:08 pm: first of all, clean it. i don't mean just picking up, i mean deep down on your knees scrubbing out stains clean. air fresheners are for small, simple smells. basically, you just need to clean and then, use air fresheners. it not easy, but itz the only way...
good luck,

zapreth answered Monday December 20 2004, 4:21 pm: Shampoo the rugs. It costs to rent the machine, but it makes a load of difference. Keep the dogs bathed at least every two weeks. This also helps. I wouldn't try carpet fresh becasue it is bad for your dogs' lungs. Luck, I have 6 dogs right now myself. It takes work to keep the house up to sniff! xXxpinky615xXx answered Monday December 20 2004, 3:42 pm: I can't believe Febreeze doesn't work! I have two dogs and my house smells kinda funky sometimes so I use febreeze and it works great for me. You should get The Febreeze stuff you spray in the air and the stuff you spray on the furniture. Don't use it like once a week you have to use it every day. Hope this helped. jbdreamer answered Monday December 20 2004, 3:40 pm: Vacum and mop the floor often. That's a start. I don't believe in air fresheners, all they do is cover up a smell for a while, they don't get rid of it. To be honest, I don't know of an inexpensive way to get rid of odors. Having the carpets steam cleaned would help. I use an Ionic Breeze air filter (from the Sharper Image). It's around $250, but for clean air it's worth it. And that's a one time fee, you don't have to buy air filters for it, you just clean the metal rods twice a month. I have a cat and a very dusty apartment. Since getting my Ionic Breeze I have noticed a huge difference. The dust is no longer in the air, and the smells from the cat (like litter) are gone. I have fresh air.
